I thought bsides were bsides for a reason though :teresa:

Melanie C - 'The Sea'
I've never played The Sea from start to finish. Is this something I should do? In all honesty, the 7th Heaven Remix of Think About It is the only song I've felt I needed in my collection from that era.

Also check out Victoria's story, a lovely moment between Victoria and Emma as they watch a compilation of Spice Girls clips. Nothing shared from Emma, Melanie C or Geri yet, but maybe soon? Looks like they were attempting to recreate the Forever photo shoot. If Mel B was there and all four were in the photo, I'd honestly consider cropping that and replacing the original drab cover.

Throwback! Anniversaries of Spice Girls moments
25 years ago today they won best group at the MTV EMAs and performed ’Spice Up Your Life’ and of course the same evening they fired Simon Fuller. And in some ways, that was the beginning of the end :teresa:

Spice Girls - 'Forever'
I saw that this morning too. And that black heart emoji: cherry on top! Their team knows what's up. They know what we're looking for. :teresa:

Spice Girls - 'Spiceworld 25'
Agreed. I think the idea of Forever25, or anything to celebrate that dysfunctional era, is dead in the water. I think our last hope is for Goodbye25. Release an expanded edition of the Goodbye EP with the 1998/1999 tracks, right at the end of a final tour in July 2023. Done. That would make me happy and I'd never ask for anything else.

That Party Mix is just ok for me. It just has more variety than the GH megamix. I like how the party mix opens with the Morales mix of SUYL but it loses me after that, and, in my opinion, only gets rescued by the Junior Vasquez mix of Wannabe which is one of their best remixes ever according to my ears. I think the Morales mix of Stop is trash. How the hell does someone manage to suck the energy and fun out of a song like Stop!? Shame on you David Morales. And shame on the label for approving that one.

Exactly what I thought it would be. Uninspired. The GH megamix already delivered that, unfortunately.

Melanie C - 'Northern Star'
Absolutely. I still remember waiting by the TV for the premiere of the Goin' Down video here in Canada, and I remember the VJs saying multiple times during the build up to it; things like "this is unlike any Spice Girls product" or "Sporty Spice is maaaaad at someone!" Then, the time came. The video starts. My jaw dropped. After it ended, my first thought was, sadly: "the group is done." And I fully admit that Goin' Down didn't do it for me initially because I was so attached to the group's music still. But the more I saw the video, the more I liked it, and the song. Then when I got to see her do it live...icing on the cake for me. Just the gutteral rawness of it. It's just interesting how differently Melanie C and Geri "buried" their Spice Girl personas in the videos for Goin'Down and Lok At Me. Goin' Down is now one of my favourite solo Spice singles.

Spice Girls - 'Spiceworld 25'
I'm genuinely curious: what do you think is awful about it? I haven't seen it in person yet but I think that shimmery silverstone background looks pretty darn sleek. I'm still not buying it because I think the tracklisting stinks but I think they nailed the cover.

Spice Girls - 'Spiceworld 25'
People don't have much of attention span in general! I'd probably say 90% of my friends can't let a song on their iPod play out in full that they chose without hitting that skip button halfway through only to advance to yet another song that's "the best".

OMG! Emma said that!? I liiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiive! :yahoo: The irony: those songs are certainly not the strongest from Hot. Although I have a little soft spot for the vibe of ABC 123 and Pack Your Shit. :teresa: Maybe she didn't have much of a choice given that Forever was about to rear its ugly head in less than a month after Hot was released, including the 11.2 seconds worth of Forever promotion that they had to do. :teresa:

Oooof. That's sad.

Which version of the Spice Up Your Life video do you prefer?
Never expected an alternative version of the video, and also did not expect to like it more than original! Cheers to the creator! :cheer:

Spice Girls - 'Forever'
A lot of interesting opinions here about Forever and anything surrounding its creation. This album remains as divisive as the four members were with each other when they recorded and promoted it (and I use the term loosely) at the time.
-
Spice Girls - 'Forever'
Agreed; and while I don't think that the four members who recorded Forever think much (or at all) about unreleased pop songs from album #3, it seems highly likely that the poppier songs that took a backseat would be enjoyed by the fanbase more than the majority of what made the final cut. Given that the Kennedy songs alone are as decent and catchy as they are, albeit a bit unpolished, I'm sure Biff created equally good (if not superior) tracks with the group. That 1998-1999 period is probably the era in which most of the unreleased songs live and there are probably enough of them to create a 'vault' album alongside the ones that we know are still under lock and key from Spice. A literal body of nostalgic work is just sitting on a hard drive (or hard drives) somewhere collecting cookies.

Spice Girls - 'Forever'
Fully agree with this! And I'll add that I enjoy the little drops!

Spice Girls - 'Forever'
It's always interesting to read what other fans like/don't like about each album. For me, the only songs I enjoy from Forever (in the versions that appear on the album) are: Holler Weekend Love If You Wanna Have Some Fun Oxygen Goodbye Tell Me Why is a good concept for a song, but I think I'd like it more with different production. Right Back At Ya is ok, but I prefer the poppier version that leaked, along with Pain Proof and Give You Want You Want. I'm just not into the Darkchild beats that much. I think he was severely overused by the time Forever came around, and the beats he used on Forever sound like b-side material to me. *waits for Melanie C to jump in and drop her line about b-sides*

Agreed, I'd happily buy that demo -- it's the kind of incentive I look for.

LOL! Is it just me, or do most of the SGs and many who worked with them have very sketchy factual recall? :teresa:

Maybe I'm just naive to her level of star power in the US; I'm surprised she gets interviewed as often as she does!
