Yes
Surprising how similar Yes are to the Moodies... career wise... Both are kind of progressive rock... both are a bit mystical.. Both toured America playing to big stadiums and arenas.. Both had problems and splits but always got together again to make yet another album then yet another tour of America. Now in the teenies decade they are both legendary groups ( Both Yes and the Moodies are still waiting to be abducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame)

God Save The Kinks
The Beatles really ... were a Supergroup.... they had 3 very talented and gifted songwriters The Moody Blues were a Supergroup too... with at least 3 of the guys writing brilliant songs. The Kinks just had Ray .... but what a songwriter he is .... and who can touch him as a lyricist ? Its great that he is still so active and touring ... he must love to perform on stage playing to very appreciative audiences ......... long may he reign !

Moody Blues

One of the things I like about this forum is you can edit days, weeks later, lots of forums give you ten mins ! It would have been easy for you to pm me.... "your post looks untidy, please put the links in one post and delete the other posts" with the edit option I could have done that. Instead the post was simply deleted, no pm or anything else Anyway, Ill assume there was a pm and it did nt get thru Ill prob get round to reposting the thread.......... eventually !

Moody Blues
I guess the Moodies can be classed as a " Supergroup " like the Beatles, like Fleetwood Mac...... a group just choc full of talented songwriters. Justin Hayward and John Lodge ( bass ) joined at the same time in 1966

God Save The Kinks
Ray is keeping active, he always seems to be on concert tours, he does TV , I saw him on a show on Belgium TV.... he did that big TV documentary on himself with that guy who used to be head of the BBC . Maybe the songwriting is nt there anymore, but he is not slowing down. Contrast Ray with Bowie ..... nada from the thin white duke these days .

After years of touring UK and Europe with an 80s revival , nostalgia tour it looks like Carol and the guys have now got a permanent home REWIND HENLEY-ON-THAMES - AUGUST 17-19 2012 its becoming an annual event with tents, catering, illegal substances , etc anyone ever been ? I think it would be more fun than Glastonbury -in-the-mud !

ABBA
All these parades that go on up and down the country each summer Manchester Pride etc.... They should all have at least one float belting out Abba music and a few hot chicks as Abba lookalikes.... that would really spice things up !

God Save The Kinks
What an awesome songwriter Ray was ( is ) and lets remember he did both the lyrics and melody ... cant think he did much collaboration....back in the 60s and 70s . His lyric writing is brilliant in itself ! He obviously had great discipline back in the 60s to get down to work. Dave on the other hand seems to have been a big party animal and lived it large throughout the 60s....and 70s..... but Death of a Clown is proof that he too had been touched with a great songwriting talent... if only he had got down to it , like his brother Ray.

The Beegees
Lot of TV about the Bee Gees on UK TV tonight Easter Sunday. Interesting it was Eric Clapton who advised them to go to America and try writing there with a new vibe. They took his advice and a whole new career opened up for them as they became the Disco Kings. Also interesting they talked of composing songs, they would get together, work out the melody and do the lyrics next day .... ! so with the Bee Gees the melody came first !

Bowie
Yes, the guy has got to think of his own health and well being, that comes first without doubt. Maybe a relaxing cruise this summer... the Greek islands .....
-
Bowie
I dont know why he does nt do the odd big one off concert like the above, it would be a big event for everyone and for Bowie, not exactly taxing !

Bowie
What I d like to see is a big one off day night concert this summer... say late July in the Wembley Arena.... basically a Bowie concert but with some up and coming acts to kick off things at 2 pm.. then maybe a few spots by established singers such as Cathy Denis, Kate Perry, Bananarama Then Bowie comes on at 7 pm and does an hour and half set.... Billy Idol takes over at 8. 30 and does a 1 and 1/2 hour set with his hit songs like In the Midnight Hour.... White Wedding,.... Eyes without a Face.... At 10 pm Bowie comes back on stage ... Bowie and Billy do a few songs together till 10 . 30... Then Bowie takes centre stage and runs on till midnight 30 with some of his classic hits like ..... Man Who Sold the World, Lady Stardust.... Star Man and a ton of his other songs... At midnight 30 all the acts come on stage for a final sing along.... running on till 1 am when it all comes to an end. That would be one hot concert and also a great tribute to Billy Idol, who deserves a bit of recognition........... a fab night for the great Bowie too... a night to remember ! !

Gotto admit that on first seeing him on top of pops I thought wot a w*n**r .... but now I realize he is a rock legend (he was in the Suzy Souxie band for a while ! ) Rebel Yell Eyes without a face, Shotgun wedding Dancing with myself.... just to name a few, Where is he now ... chillin out in LA somewhere ... ? you d think he d do a spot on a big concert this summer in the UK there must be something being organized. Love to see Billy on the same bill as David Bowie .... wot a night that would be !

Jimmy Page
Just watched a documentary with Jimmy Page, the guitarist from U2 and an American guy. They are all, of course great guitarists though I hardly know anything about any of them OK Jimmy is a legend from the Yardbirds, then Led Zep In a way they had one thing in common.... getting great sounds out of their guitar by the use of technology .. pick ups... amps... a kind of black art of technology. Once they mastered these machines and gizmos then they become powerful wizards on stage ! Jimmy must take a lot of credit for the great sound the Yardbirds had way back when and of course he became a legend with Zep I think he was always big into the occult too... ( wonder, was he ever given the title... The Prince of Darkness ? or a similar nickname ? ) Hang on Ozzie got that title, I wonder if Jimmy had some other nick name ? .
