  2. So I've settled on my 30- now to put them in order. This is genuinely the toughest rate I've ever done I think just in terms of narrowing it to 30 songs.

The last 8 sets of votes were interesting as there was a real drive towards acts which were not already in the top 10. I'll go into more detail once we're done but with 8 sets of votes left to add in you can see that some acts made some real big jumps Queen were 11th Pet Shop Boys were 12th The Beatles were 14th They all collected over 100 points from the last 8 voters. By contrast some collected barely anything- The Killers for example got a poor 29 points and Steps (who were in 4th) got just 6 points allowing LM to catch them at the last minute and push them out of the top 5.

In their defence (and looking at the top 30) they are the only act to make a substantial showing on this rate who also debuted in the last 15 years

Yes although i think the version on the tribute album was done by Monaco. Anyway that's what "Tragedy" was originally recorded for.
  7. Gezza posted a post in a topic in UK Charts
It was on the bee gees tribute album that I bought in late 98. It was released a few weeks after 911's "More than a woman" I'm sure.
  8. Gezza posted a post in a topic in UK Charts
I think as the track ("Tragedy") was already available on an album not much was expected of it despite the , then, recent examples to the contrary from take that and Boyzone not to mention 911.

So some facts about the top 5: There are 12 thirty pointers to be given out between four acts, meaning that 1 act left never got maximum points from any voter# All acts attracted at least 25 voters All will be revealed by the end of the week!
  10. Gezza posted a post in a topic in UK Charts
Well their artist forum was all over the rate from the off and they were third for a while (even led after the first set of votes thanks to Leonardo).

  14. Ridiculous- Went through the entire playlist over the last few days marking those I liked, those I loved, and those I wouldn't be voting for. In the last category i had the grand total of 8 so I've narrowed it down to a top 50 after a whole week!

  18. I was trying find the intro to their brits performance on 20 February 95 as i was sure something was mentioned at that point about the song not being available until may. I know it was serviced to radio 6 weeks before release which was unpredicted at the time, so assuming that it's true that the brits performance was the first reveal of the track and the the song wasn't planned to be on the radio for a few weeks after the performance, that would have put the original planned release in at least late April. So I think it was pushed firstly to early April then to March, in other words twice, probably because of the reasons in that commentary. They were fearful of over hype and they were doing something not attempted before.

3 acts new to the top 10 as we move to 1 elimination per day! Every act in the top 10 got at least 21 voters and only 1 act failed to get 30 points from any voter.
  20. Again from memory, BFG and NF weren't written at the time "Sure" was released. There were 7 months between "Sure" and "Back For Good" and BFG wasn't actually due for release until May but was brought forward by demand. I think it was felt that a year was too long in the boyband world to go without a single release (given that the average boyband lasted about 4 years) so they needed something out in the latter part of 94 as a placeholder almost until the album was written and recorded.

  25. I'm only listening to the post 2000s ones for the rate to see what sticks in my mind and what doesn't. Surprisingly nothing is awful, a few nice but nothing great but more are actually decent and you find yourself humming.
