Do people want me to add certifications to the top 10 as and when they happen? (or would have happened) in the top 10?

Kylie ● UK Chart Runs & Sales
Was just going to add I suspect that this is the truth- for whatever reason it has actually sold 200,000 since 1994 and as the last award was Silver it has now gone Platinum as that's the difference between the two awards. That would put its sales at 1.044 million which fits in with all the other updates and the rate it is selling. As we all know this isn't the way it should work but maybe there's a Kylie fan at the OCC :D It's the only way it makes sense in my opinion.

The BMRB Years- The Top 10 Sales
5TH SEPTEMBER Well as predicted last week both Aneka and Soft Cell both had TOTP exposure and both benefitted but the winner was never in doubt even before Thursday came around with Soft Cell's "Tainted Love" exploding 78% to sell 135,000 copies last week, the 2nd biggest 7 day tally of 1981 so far. The song has now sold 293,088 copies since release and could top the half million mark as early as a fortnight. All of which excitement leaves poor Aneka stuck at No 2 with "Japanese Boy" which is shunted from the top spot after just a week despite a 20% sales hike to 93,000. The rest of the field lag behind by over 40,000 copies. ar8xbPmkaMo Heralding a new album and a new sound Numan does Jazz! Gary is back with "She's Got Claws" which rises 15-6 (48,000). The singer recently announced his intention to retire from touring so the album may suffer in the long term but it is released this week, and the lead single becomes his 5th top 10 hit single making up for the disappointment of "This Wreckage" which could only make No 20 in January this year. HV43Cb-9B1A Also gearing up for an album release, Genesis are back this month with "Abacab" the single and album. The single moves 12-9 (39,000) to become only their third top 10 single to date and is named after the songwriting process where the band labelled parts of the song A-B-C etc and this stuck. 1981 is proving a busy year for Collins who has already released an album and three singles as a soloist! z5K_vzY1CiY Elsewhere it's a strange old week with Human League bounding 6-3 despite losing sales to 55,000, similarly ELO rise 5-4 but lose 7,000 sales wise over the last 7 days to sell 55,000. Also falling are Royal Philharmonic orchestra 3-5 (54,000), Shakin Stevens 4-8 (40,000) and Lobo 8-10 (38,000). UB40 buck the trend however as "One In Ten" jumps 10-7 (44,000) with a marginal increase. All eyes on the new Adam & The Ants single next week- can it repeat their last single and debut at No 1? 1- TAINTED LOVE- Soft Cell (135,000) 2- JAPANESE BOY- Aneka (93,000) 3- LOVE ACTION (I BELIEVE IN LOVE)- Human League (55,000) 4- HOLD ON TIGHT- E.L.O (55,000) 5- HOOKED ON CLASSICS- Royal Philharmonic Orchestra (54,000) 6- SHE’S GOT CLAWS- Gary Numan (48,000) 7- ONE IN TEN- UB40 (44,000) 8- GREEN DOOR- Shakin Stevens (40,000) 9- ABACAB- Genesis (39,000) 10- CARRIBEAN DISCO SHOW- Lobo (38,000)

The BMRB Years- The Top 10 Sales
29TH AUGUST Shaky's charmed life at the top comes to an end this week as "Green Door" closes 1-4 (64,000) and it is replaced by Aneka's "Japanese Boy" which led pretty much from the off ending up with 78,000 buyers. It will be hoping to get a TOTP boost this week and neither it nor "Tainted Love" by Soft Cell got exposure last week but the latter is chasing Aneka hard 9-2 (76,000) and could yet pose issues next week. Shaky and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra both get TOTP plays but both are down, Shaky as documented and "Hooked On Classics" dipping 2-3 (70,000). Incidentally Aneka is the first female solo No 1 of the year and the first since Barbra streisand last November. PkE1WiJxokM ELO climb a spot 6-5 (64,000) but increase sales far too slowly to threaten much. After a streak of three top 10 hits from 3 releases in 1980, UB40's last single "Don't Let It Pass You By/ Don't Slow Down" missed out at No 16, a blip overlooked now as "One In Ten" rises 16-10 (38,000). The title refers to the current unemployment figure in the West Midlands (9.6% to be exact) and is the second release from their second album "Present Arms" which has already peaked at No 2 replicating the success of debut set "Signing Off". quTIjiw1xGE The only other climber in the ten is Lobo who creep 10-8 ( 46,000) while there are three fallers not mentioned yet, Human League 3-6 (59,000), Duran Duran 5-7 (47,000) and Tight Fit 8-9 (40,000) 1- JAPANESE BOY- Aneka (78,000) 2- TAINTED LOVE- Soft Cell (76,000) 3- HOOKED ON CLASSICS- Royal Philharmonic Orchestra (70,000) 4- GREEN DOOR- Shakin Stevens (64,000) 5- HOLD ON TIGHT- E.L.O (62,000) 6- LOVE ACTION (I BELIEVE IN LOVE)- Human League (59,000) 7- GIRLS ON FILM- Duran Duran (47,000) 8- CARRIBEAN DISCO SHOW- Lobo (46,000) 9- BACK TO THE SIXTIES- Tight Fit (40,000) 10- ONE IN TEN- UB40 (38,000)

The BMRB Years- The Top 10 Sales
22ND AUGUST Shaky is the word to sum up the whole of the situation at the top of the top of the charts this week as Stevens keeps hold of the No 1 spot for a fourth week but his lead looked tenuous all week and his winning total was 76,000, a decrease of 12% week on week, its tally now stands at 364,000 though it now looks like it won't match the overall total of either of his two previous hits, Nevertheless he;s now spent 7 weeks at No 1 in the 80s putting him level with John Lennon at the top of that chart. _RCUj5d845I Numbers 2-5 all finished within just 11,000 copies of each other such was the tightness of the chasing pack with only a TOTP performance enough to help Royal Philharmonic Orchestra stay at no 2 on a sale of 72,000, 6,000 ahead of Human League who leap 7-3- keep an eye on them for next week's No 1 unless... Moving ominously from 19-4 (65,000) this week is Scottish singer Aneka who plucked her stage name from the phone book if popular rumour is to be believed. Born Mary Sandeman this is her debut single and shows distinct signs of challenging the weak Shakin Stevens next week, she is an established singer of Scottish and Gaelic folk songs who decided that she wanted to record a pop record and told her producer who played her a track he had lying around. She loved it and got a record deal and you see the result now! 9VCrbtP-wDg Having failed to dent the charts with their first few releases a cover of a Gloria Jones b-side from 1965 which similarly failed to make an impression on the British public has now succeeded for Soft Cell. The duo's version of "Tainted Love" flies 26-9 (47,000) this week, the rumour that this was the band's last chance at recording a hit by Some Bizzare (if true) has proved that patience has paid off. CppOyay3UsM Speaking of the great British public clearly they haven't had enough of medley's yet as this week Imrich Lobo (using just his surname for chart purposes) sees his "Caribbean Disco Show" climb 14-10 (46,000). Not to be confused with the US singer who had a couple of top ten hits in the early 70s, this Lobo hails from Netherlands where the track has already spent 3 weeks at the No 1 position. l9w7-7kjy6c In other news Duran Duran climb 6-5 (61,000), ELO glide 9-6 (55,000), whilst Stevie Wonder slides 3-7 (49,000) and Tight Fit recede 4-8 (47,000) 1- GREEN DOOR- Shakin Stevens (76,000) 2- HOOKED ON CLASSICS- Royal Philharmonic Orchestra (72,000) 3- LOVE ACTION (I BELIEVE IN LOVE)- Human League (66,000) 4- JAPANESE BOY- Aneka (65,000) 5- GIRLS ON FILM- Duran Duran (61,000) 6- HOLD ON TIGHT- E.L.O (55,000) 7- HAPPY BIRTHDAY- Stevie Wonder (49,000) 8- BACK TO THE SIXTIES- Tight Fit (47,000) 9- TAINTED LOVE- Soft Cell (47,000) 10- CARIBBEAN DISCO- Lobo (46,000)

The BMRB Years- The Top 10 Sales
15TH AUGUST Shaky reigns supreme this week with an easy victory despite sales dipping. "Green Door" loses 13% as it sells 87,000 copies and equals the three week stay of "This Ole House" earlier in the year and brings the Welsh singer to a total of 6 weeks at the top in the 80s just one behind John Lennon, his victory is easier than last week given that everything around him slides even further, "Hooked On Classics rises 3-2 but loses 13% (66,000) and Stevie Wonder swaps places with RPO 2-3 (64,000), a big dip of 21% week on week. nvKcNoXGA-g The New Romantic movement may still be looking for its first chart topper (if you view "Ashes To Ashes" as Bowie just dipping his toe in the genre) but it's certainly making its presence felt in the top 10 with two new arrivals. First up are Duran Duran who came to the media's attention after they supported Hazel O'Connor in late 1980 on tour and signed for EMI earlier this year, the first fruits resulted in "Planet Earth" which peaked at No 12 though they disappointed with second single "Careless Memories" at No 37, all that is put behind them now as "Girls On Film" gives them a top 10 hit moving 15-6 (47,000). Their debut eponymous album is already in the top 10, and with a video that is causing some controversy the hype around the group seems, for the moment, to be justified. The track was actually written by Andy Wickett (a former frontman for the outfit pre fame) but was purchased by the remaining members of the outfit for £600 with Wickett signing away his writing royalties instead, wonder if he'll regret that? Li-EhfQTeWs Plugging away for a good few years the Human League are already about to release album three but had failed to dent the top 40 singles until "Sound Of The Crowd" made No 12 earlier this year. "Love Action (I Believe In Love)" is labelled as "Red" on the sleeve to denote the band's marketing tool of labelling their songs either "Blue" for pop songs and "Red" for dance songs in case you wondering, it advances this week 29-7 (43,000) to become their biggest hit. HnjLlDY_xww With new album "Time" stuck at No 2 behind the Royal Wedding album, ELO return to the top 10 with "Hold On Tight" this week as the track rises 19-9 (38,000) to become their 15th top 10 hit in 9 years. It reportedly has a video which cost £400,000 (the most expensive video made to date) and is particularly apt in the month that MTV launches in the US. UkekqVPIc2M It may be that the main threat to Shaky next week could be Tight Fit as they power 10-4 (58,000) on the back of a TOTP performance, if it can continue to move upward it could pose problems in weeks to come. Not so for Spandau Ballet 4-5 (54,000), The Jacksons 7-8 (40,000) and Sheena Easton 8-10 (36,000) who all lose ground on the top. 1- GREEN DOOR- Shakin Stevens (87,000) 2- HOOKED ON CLASSICS- Royal Philharmonic Orchestra (66,000) 3- HAPPY BIRTHDAY- Stevie Wonder (64,000) 4- BACK TO THE SIXTIES- Tight Fit (58,000) 5- CHANT NO 1 (I DON’T NEED THIS PRESSURE ON)- Spandau Ballet (54,000) 6- GIRLS ON FILM- Duran Duran (47,000) 7- LOVE ACTION (I BELIEVE IN LOVE)- Human League (43,000) 8- WALK RIGHT NOW- The Jacksons (40,000) 9- HOLD ON TIGHT- E.L.O (38,000) 10- FOR YOUR EYES ONLY- Sheena Easton (36,000)

The BMRB Years- The Top 10 Sales
On August 1st, 1981 MTV launched in the US and would change the music industry with a promo becoming a virtual pre-requisite for a successful single (certainly in the US) for decades to come. Promo's were already far more common in the UK than in the US leading MTV to air mostly UK acts in the first years which would lead to the second invasion of UK acts over the next 5 years stateside.

The BMRB Years- The Top 10 Sales
8TH AUGUST After last weeks frantic scramble for the top spot this week is much more orderly with Shakin' Stevens way out in front with "Green Door" from the off. The single sold 100,000 copies last week to bring its total to 200,460 copies after just three weeks, not being available on his current album "This Ole House" has certainly helped, that album is still pottering around the top 30 but his next album "Shaky" is due next month and will feature the current No 1 along with Stevens' last single "You Drive Me Crazy"- expect a big seller. Indeed Shakin Stevens is the only man who looks capable of selling anything like Adam & The Ants in 1981. 8BnPV9f_Ue4 Three new hits in the top 10 start with the Jacksons and "Walk Right Now" which accelerates 15-7 (38,000). It's a fourth single from "Triumph" which has turned out to be a prophetic title as it has become one of their most successful albums here in the UK, it also marks the first time the band have scored back to back top 10 hits since their initial run of four hits back in 1970. y56VLiQMnGk It's been a rocky 12 months for Sheena Easton who has seen her going from two hits simultaneously in the top 10 this time last year to having her song "Take My Time" peak at No 44 in February. To balance that the singer famously made No 1 stateside with a retitled "The Morning Train (9 to 5)" a few months ago which led to revived fortunes in the UK as her last single "When He Shines" made No 12. She is of course now singing the new Bond theme to "For Your Eyes Only" which was actually written with either Dusty Springfield or Donna Summer in mind but again it was that increased profile with a stateside chart topper than got Easton the job and a third top 10 hit as it moves 11-8 (35,000). She also becomes the first bond theme singer to appear in the film as she's there in the opening credits! id00cVmnA3E Not had enough Medley's yet? How about Tight Fit which are a group of session singers put together by producer Ken Gold to front his medley of 60s hit imaginatively called "Back To The Sixties" which sneaks in this week climbing 14-10 (32,000). Along with Starsound at No 9 this week (34,000) it means we have three medleys of old hits in the top 10 along with 2 covers marking a week when half of the big 10 are remakes and rehashes. s5rdgQeF-a4 Back to the top of the charts and Stevie Wonder proves no real competition to Shaky even though he moves 4-2 (82,000), looking more healthy are Royal Philharmonic Orchestra who jump 7- 3 (77,000) an increase of 83% in sales terms. Bad news for the remaining records though Spandau Ballet will have to wait for that No 1 as they drop 3-4 (66,000- yes a sales increase! again thanks to TOTP), The Specials dip 2-5 (61,000) but cumulatively the track is now over 500,000 and easily their biggest selling single now. Bad Manners round matters off with "Can Can" holding at No 6 with 42,000 copies sold, and has now sold 364,596 copies in total, and is only around 30,000 away from overtaking "Special Brew" to become their biggest seller. 1- GREEN DOOR- Shakin Stevens (100,000) 2- HAPPY BIRTHDAY- Stevie Wonder (82,000) 3- HOOKED ON CLASSICS- Royal Philharmonic Orchestra (77,000) 4- CHANT NO 1 (I DON’T NEED THIS PRESSURE ON)- Spandau Ballet (66,000) 5- GHOST TOWN- The Specials (51,000) 6- CAN CAN- Bad Manners (42,000) 7- WALK RIGHT NOW- The Jacksons (38,000) 8- FOR YOUR EYES ONLY- Sheena Easton (35,000) 9- STARS ON 45 VOLUME II- Starsound (34,000) 10- BACK TO THE SIXTIES- Tight Fit (32,000)

27TH APRIL For a second week in a row Mark Morrison overturned a hefty midweek deficit to grab the top spot, “Return Of The Mack” registering an almost identical sale to last week of 90,000 as the disc goes silver (400,000). Morrison’s debut album is in shops this week and may prove fatal to the reign of the track even if it can withstand the new George Michael single. uB1D9wWxd2w When guitarist and writer Richey Edwards disappeared in February last year the future of the Manic Street Preachers looked in question but they continue as a trio and their new single “A Design For Life” built up a large lead initially looking like becoming their first No 1. The song has a title inspired by Joy Division and takes up themes of class conflict and social identity, it is the first release from their fourth album “Everything Must Go” which is out in a few weeks. In the end it debuts at No 2 (83,000), their second top 10 single but certainly their biggest to date! Its arrival spells bad news for Gina G who registers her own sales increase of 10% to 79,000 but still falls 2-3. SFidUw7Ej1A Gearing up to the release of their first album (they have already released a mini album back in 1994) Ash are the newest Britpop act to get their breakthrough. They hail from Northern Ireland and are all teenagers and got their big break thanks to Radio 1 DJ Steve Lamaq back in 1995, they haven’t looked back grabbing two top 20 singles and now finally a top 10 single with “Goldfinger” new at No 5 (52,000). OugqugHNTIQ One of the hottest dance tracks around for the past few months has been the Lisa Marie Experience remix of Musique’s 1978 track “Keep On Jumpin’”. The outfit consist of two English DJ’s Neil Hinde and Dean Marriott and their version is one of two competing versions the other by the more famous Todd Terry but this is the version that hits the charts first entering at No 7 (31,000). rc0xulIyAcs Michael Jackson holds at No 4 (72,000) with increased sales thanks to a second CD with a remix of “Beat It” on it, further down Suggs Featuring Louchie Lou & Michie One continue their upwards trajectory 9-6 (37,000) to become both acts biggest hit. Three former big dance hits on their way out clog up the bottom of the top tier. The Prodigy limp 3-8 (30,000), Mark Snow drops 5-9 (30,000) and Robert Miles lingers 7-10 (26,000) but the total of all three hits is now 1.2 million! 1- RETURN OF THE MACK- Mark Morrison (90,000) 2- A DESIGN FOR LIFE- Manic Street Preachers (83,000) 3- OOH AAH JUST A LITTLE BIT- Gina G (79,000) 4- THEY DON’T CARE ABOUT US- Michael Jackson (72,000) 5- GOLDFINGER- Ash (52,000) 6- CECILIA- Suggs Ft Louchie Lou & Michie One (37,000) 7- KEEP ON JUMPIN- Lisa Marie Experience (31,000) 8- FIRESTARTER- The Prodigy(30,000) 9- THE X FILES- Mark Snow (30,000) 10- CHILDREN- Robert Miles (26,000)

The BMRB Years- The Top 10 Sales
1ST AUGUST For most of the week it looked as though my prediction of last week was to come true with Spandau Ballet holding the prime position in the charts until TOTP aired and sent sales of Shakin Stevens' "Green Door" into the stratosphere. The track was already heading into the top 5 on its own steam from its entry at No 22 last week but there is little doubt that its use on the BBC Flagship music programme saw the track become unstoppable on Friday and Saturday selling 77,000 in total. The song is a cover version of the Jim Lowe 1956 original which topped the US charts in 1956 and made No 8 here, it was a bigger hit for Frankie Vaughan which made No 2 in the UK but Shakey has now gone one better. The songs jump to No 1 is the second biggest of all time playing second fiddle to the man who Shaky has undoubtedly modelled much of his career on Elvis Presley who rose 27-1 in 1961 with "Surrender". 3egWWuaYtcU TOTP was also responsible for a late surge in sales of the outgoing No 1 "Ghost Town" which had been running at No 3 behind both Spandau Ballet and Stevie Wonder until that point, they all finished within 6,000 copies of each other eventually, The Specials (62,000), Spandau Ballet (58,000), and Stevie Wonder (55,000) specifically. With the exception of Wonder, Shaky appears to have a clear run at the top next week. For Spandau it is their biggest hit regardless but news that they were celebrating No 1 last Friday in the office of their record company now looks a little premature! Whilst Starsound drop back 2-5 (50,000) the Royal philharmonic Orchestra are getting in on the medley craze with what has to be one of the more bizarre top 10 entries of the year. "Hooked On Classics" is a track which sets some classical pieces to a disco beat and rockets 33-7 (42,000) this week featuring the work of Tchaikovsky, Mozart, and Rossini among others and the orchestra is conducted by ELO member Louis Clark- it's all so random it HAD to work! GhwKtsmSryE Third world manage to hold at No 10 (34,000) but other than that 3 tracks all fall, Bad Manners 3-6 (43,000), Imagination 5-8 (35,000) and ABBA 7-9 (35,00), for the latter act it is their smallest hit since 1975! 1- GREEN DOOR- Shakin Stevens (77,000) 2- GHOST TOWN- The Specials (61,000) 3- CHANT NO 1 (I DON’T NEED THIS PRESSURE ON)- Spandau Ballet (58,000) 4- HAPPY BIRTHDAY- Stevie Wonder (55,000) 5- STARS ON 45 VOLUME II- Starsound (50,000) 6- CAN CAN- Bad Manners (43,000) 7- HOOKED ON CLASSICS- Royal Philharmonic Orchestra (42,000) 8- BODY TALK- Imagination (35,000) 9- LAY ALL YOUR LOVE ON ME- Abba (35,000) 10- DANCING ON THE FLOOR- Third World (34,000)

The BMRB Years- The Top 10 Sales
It does indeed. The promo has it much more clearly on the mix and if I recall the single version did tone it down however not enough for Da Silva not to pay out damages to Spandau Ballet after the event it was a hit.

The BMRB Years- The Top 10 Sales
25TH JULY We're still living in a "Ghost Town" as The Specials make it a third week at the top with their longest chart topper. Although sales relented to 84,000 last week its victory was more comprehensive than last week with Starsound holding at the runner up spot but with a mere 65,000 copies sold and must be fancied to start moving down the charts next week. Meanwhile "Ghost Town" has never really taken off at retail and has total sales are now 405,000 so it should at least shift half a million before leaving the top 10. Bad Manners stick at No 3 though again they slide sales wise to 58,000. RZ2oXzrnti4 With the entire top 3 starting to flounder attention on the next chart topper must centre around Spandau Ballet who rocket 18-4 (54,000) with a track called "Chant No 1 (I Don't Need This Pressure On)". It's the first single to be plucked from their as yet untitled second album which isn't due for a good few months yet, it's also penned by Gary Kemp, has Beggar & co in the background, and has Landscape's Richard James Burgess on production duties- watch this next week! P6gCzYZRB9c Needing no introduction the UK's favourite Swedes return this week as ABBA shoot 17-7 (43,000) with "Lay All Your Love On Me" which has been released in 12" format only (although the track is little more than 7" worth of music. It's also retailing at almost double the price of a normal 7" single all of which may affect its end chart position- it is however the highest placed single ever to be released solely on the 12" format and is of course taken from the "Super Trouper" album which was the biggest selling album of last year. Why is it only on 12"? Well it looks like it was due to a fall out between Epic and the group, Epic wanted a record out but the group didn't- upon looking at the contract Epic realised that they only needed ABBA's permission for 7" releases but not 12" as the contract pre-dated the format- problem solved. For now. It also explains why there was no promo made for it! CQKyLOQPTPo It's his 33rd charting single in the UK but for the first time in his 15 year chart life, Stevie Wonder debuts inside the top 10 (the fourth track to do so in 1981). "Happy Birthday" is a tribute to Martin Luther King and was also composed to highlight a cause close to Wonder's heart, that of getting Luther King's birthday recognised as a public holiday in the USA, the track is also the fourth track to be released from "Hotter Than July" all of which have made the top 10 and in getting four tracks to the big 10 in a row this is another first in his long career. "Happy Birthday" breezes into No 9 (34,000) RcVZfJO01NI Third world are back in the top 10 for the first time since 1978's "Now That We've Found Love" Third world have another hit on their hands with "Dancing On The Floor". On the bill with Wonder at this year's "Reggae Sunsplash" which was a tribute to Bob Marley, the group benefits now from the exposure and the track rises 12-10 (34,000) YPLXlBDcBX8 Holding this week are Motorhead at No 6 (49,000), whilst there are two fallers, Imagination 4-5 (49,000) and Tom Tom Club 7-8 (40,000). 1- GHOST TOWN- The Specials (84,000) 2- STARS ON 45 VOLUME II- Starsound (65,000) 3- CAN CAN- Bad Manners (58,000) 4- CHANT NO 1 (I DON’T NEED THIS PRESSURE ON)- Spandau Ballet (54,000) 5- BODY TALK- Imagination (49,000) 6- MOTORHEAD LIVE- Motorhead (49,000) 7- LAY ALL YOUR LOVE ON ME- Abba (43,000) 8- (YOU DON’T STOP) WORDY RAPPINGHOOD- Tom Tom Club (40,000) 9- HAPPY BIRTHDAY- Stevie Wonder (34,000) 10- DANCING ON THE FLOOR- Third World (34,000)

The BMRB Years- The Top 10 Sales
18TH JULY So in a week of social unrest in many UK towns it is with grim apropos that the Specials hold the top spot with "Ghost Town" holding pole position on 88,000 sales. The eagle eyed reader might note that the track is already seeming to peak retail wise though it is possible that the riots have put some shoppers off, or retail outlets have not been open for the normal hours, or indeed that the track has become too linked in people's minds to the recent riots, but whatever the reason it looks likely that this is the final week for the song at the top. wWb2RSYLFVU The reason to doubt that The Specials are on borrowed time comes courtesy of Starsound who nip 4-2 (77,000) and are now within striking distance of the No 1 spot, they have now started their career with two No 2 hits and their last hit was of course stopped in its tracks to No 1 by the sudden appearance of "Stand And Deliver" though this track has now gotten "nearer" to the No 1 spot than Vol 1 speaking sales wise. The only new entry into the top 10 comes from Motorhead with a "Live Ep" which sprints 14-6 (53,000). The lead track is also called "Motorhead" and was one of the final songs composed by Lemmy before he "left" Hawkwind, the track was the first release by Motorhead back in 1977 when it failed to chart by the live version recorded in March this year has now given the group a third top 10 hit in a little over a year. NKJjlB0Qctg Everything else just gets rearranged, the only track sticking in the same place are Bad Manners who hold No 3 with "Can Can" and still growing stronger with 70,000 taking up their offer of a dance. Downward movers this week include Michael Jackson 2-5 (54,000), Odyssey 5-9 (38,000) and Elaine Paige 7-10 (37,000), whilst having some reason cheer are Bob Marley 9-8 (41,000), Tom Tom Club 10-7 (47,000) and Imagination 6-4 (58,000). 1- GHOST TOWN- The Specials (88,000) 2- STARS ON 45 VOLUME II- Starsound (77,000) 3- CAN CAN- Bad Manners (70,000) 4- BODY TALK- Imagination (58,000) 5- ONE DAY IN YOUR LIFE- Michael Jackson (54,000) 6- MOTORHEAD LIVE- Motorhead (53,000) 7- (YOU DON’T STOP) WORDY RAPPINGHOOD- Tom Tom Club (47,000) 8- NO WOMAN, NO CRY- Bob Marley & The Wailers (41,000) 9- GOING BACK TO MY ROOTS- Odyssey (38,000) 10- MEMORY- Elaine Paige (37,000)
