  1. It's now re-opened again, obviously, it suits one or two to keep it going, which is probably all the more reason for us not to play ball ;)
  2. Whatever the view of each individual that's taken part in this thread, they've been posted honestly and openly on a public forum. To log on this morning and find myself in possession of a rather nasty PM warning me off this thread, was taking things more than a step too far in my opinion. In hindsight, I should have informed admin, but I was dammed annoyed. So, if we want to talk about bullying, it's the things posted behind the scenes that you should concern yourself with, anything that's posted up front for all to see, can be judged by whoever wishes to read it. No body wants this thread closed, although I doubt there's much more to add. It was a discussion and as such, there would be differing views of what happened in the past (none of us are able to tell the future are we?) There's not one side of the debate that's wholly right or wholly wrong, it's just individuals opinions. I doubt any impartial observer to the thread (and there probably are very few) would pick a good or a bad side and crying foul to get the topic shut down was really rather sad. As I said, there's really little else to add now and without debate, the thread will die a natural death.
  3. You know, I think that Think About It is my absolute favourite from Keep On
  4. What a pity its father didn't ;)
  5. The sad bast*rd will fit in just fine when we get to the 'w's don't you think? :D
  6. If you ever send me one more threatening PM I'll report you and ask to have you removed from the site, IS THAT CLEAR?
  7. Are you for real? If a mod has a problem with the way this thread is going, then it's up to a mod to tell us. And for the record, if you or your friends don't want Will mentioned, then stop the hell bringing him into the debate. It really is that simple.
  8. I'm lucky, I only live 10 minutes away. Sadly, I can't do any other concerts though, but as long as i get to see him a couple of times, I'll be happy
  9. Ooooh, I'll be at Wembley too, both nights :yahoo:
  10. Well ask your mate Hasso to leave Wills name out of it then
  11. Well then, it's certainly not the case that Will used the film to promote his music is it? Even you can't have it both ways ;) I'm at a loss to understand what these public perceptions of Gareth are. What were people supposed to know about him other than the facts? He was a young lad with a terrible stammer who entered a talent show and showed the public that his stammer didn't affect his singing? No big deal, there's stacks of people who have the same speech impediment and have a struggle to overcome it. He went on to come second in the contest, have a successful career for nearly 2 years, since when, he's left the public arena and we await to hear more. Is the public perception any different from mine? I don't know what the lies or whatever are supposed to be about. I've purposely left out one part of the CV, but even that cannot be denied. What happened exactly that you and his other fans think he got such a bum deal from the public then?
  12. That's a little bit different Hasso as well you know, you're a member of Wills site afterall, so it shouldn't need explaining. The film was Wills work as an artist, the same as his album was, it wasn't his doing that both were released at much the same time, so he was having to promote both. (the film promotion was written into Wills contract, just like the album promo is). Anyway, it's up to the management whether they wish to make a documentary of Gareths speech problems for promo, and it's up to the viewers whether they watch it or not.
  13. Bluebell asked quite a sensible question "Is there a market for ballads" and yes, considering the biggest seller of the last year was James Blunts Your Beautiful, there's still a massive market out there for ballads it would seem. I think the problem is, there's not been a big market for male solo artists, James was very much the exception, although both Robbie & Will have managed to hang on in there, a lot of others, and big names too like Daniel Bedingfield, have seen poor album sales. It looks to be changing again with the emergence of James Morrison & Paulo Nutini, both in the style of James Blunt I would say, so as Lily Allen and Sandi Thom are to the female market, I would think the male artists have to be at the very least, walking in the same footprints as James Morrison.
  14. It was a bit hard to judge Jonathans vocal abilities on the strength of the couple of lines that he sang, but certainly, the XFactor was very apparent. He doesn't need any sob story, so Simon, button it, and let Jonathan do it on his own, he might just prove to have what's been sadly lacking from these shows since the first PI. Anyway, I digress, so back to the topic in hand.
  15. Marguerite posted a post in a topic in Pop and Country
I doubt he's 'done a runner'. ;) It's probably just an unfortunate bit of bad timing that the site's gone down.
  16. And the performances in Italy & Holland :D
  17. Well aren't they the lucky ones, 'cos now they appear to have just what they've always wanted, no sales & no income, I expect they're over the moon
  18. Didn't he barter his autograph for a sausage sarnie when he was on a radio tour a couple of years ago? I think it was in Birmingham and he'd driven himself there, stopped at the market on route ('cos he got lost I think) and did the trade off :D
  19. Please God no, never let us resort to talking piffle, drivel or downright b******t in order to boost the count or delude ourselves or anyone else for that matter. If Wills career ever goes pear shaped like some, then I hope we can hold our heads up, remember the good times and face it with the honesty that we know our man will.
  20. It's the calm before the storm at the moment ;) Three weeks tomorrow, and it's all gonna kick off :yahoo: We'll have a bit of peace & quiet again through October and then it's over to our South African friends and news of that tour  Get Xmas over and then we've got the reports of the play that are gonna last several weeks. Think we're going to have to make the most of these magic moments 'cos we could then have a 2003 type drought for most of 2007 into 2008
  21. Well I suppose it's the Ostrich syndrome. As individuals, they probably face the reality of whats happened, but on sites like these, it's almost like one of those religious sects where if one person says that something is fact, the others follow like sheep and convince themselves it is fact. It's really quite dangerous and it does give an insight how distorted the truth can become when a handful of people refuse to accept it. To be honest, none of the players are important enough to matter. If they're happy in the make believe they've invented, then they're more to be pitied than blamed. Just lets be thankful that it's nothing to do with us. ;)
  22. To be honest, I don't know why I even bother to get involved in any debate with that lot. I care as much about Darius & Gareth as the rest of the British public do (which is zilch, yesterdays men, who no one gives a toss about ;) ) and as for what they think, I care even less :D Note to self: When bored, watch paint dry, it's infinitely more interesting :P
  23. It's not what I think about commercial success, it's what the label thinks about it. Does anyone honestly believe that the likes of SBMG see an up and coming young singer and think 'Bless, he's cute, not a bad voice, nice bloke, let's give him a contract and let him have his dream'? Of course they don't, they look at the guy and think 'How much money can we make out of him'. We're not discussing a charitable and altruistic entity, we're discussing a multi national, multi million pound industry with share holders to answer to and worse still, an industry where there's a never ending supply of young kids, willing to sell their grandmothers, just to get a contract from them.
  24. I tell you what Val, when I see half a dozen or so labels beating a path to Gareths door, contracts in hand, I'll take it all back OK? ;) I've no more idea than you have about Gareths future, 19 management appear to have a deal that works with SBMG (It no longer includes Cowells SYCO records) so why that same deal wouldn't work for Gareth is a mystery. Gareths album is a done deal, (working with 19, their producers their writers, it's been made without the input of SBMG obviously) all Gareth needed is a label who would produce , manufacture and distribute the c.ds (at a profit ) that SBMG have not taken up their option again really has nothing to do with whatever the content of the album is surely, other than their belief that they don't see a profit in it for them or their shareholders. When the likes of some of the biggest music artists in the World have to comply to their labels wishes in order to get their music out there, then no, I'm not willing to believe that someone who's had an underperforming second album, would have the clout to dismiss one of the biggest labels in the World and expect offeres to pour in from all sides. And this is not a personal attack on Gareth, far from it. The music industry is cut throat. Lee Ryan and Duncan James are going to be in Gareths position, their albums haven't performed well, would you honestly believe that either of them would tell SBMG to stkick their contracts 'cos offers would be pouring in?
  25. Perhaps if we had any idea how many sales equal platinum in Asian countries, we might get a clearer picture as to how many in total Gareths last album sold. I can't see it possibly being anywhere near the required British 300k otherwise SBMG would be biting Gareths hand off to get the next album release I bet.
