I quite like Internet Girl, it's a really fun track, hope it stays top 40!

Hi, hope it's okay to contribute here as an outsider these days x Being totally honest, the idea of AI-created music baffles me and I don't really understand why there's any real interest in it! It's a real middle finger up to singers, songwriters, producers, and everyone else who works on recording music and invests their time into learning and perfecting their craft. As for it's place in BJSC, it's not up to me to say as a non-participant, but I think any platforming of AI songs is unhelpful for real artists, because as Lindsey eloquently said, part of the fun is discovering a song you love and then delving into their back catalogue - I did that many times with artists I found in BJSC (e.g. I discovered great further songs from the likes of Ronya, Celeste Buckingham, Rhys, and quite notably Marcus & Martinus, not to mention a large number of the artists I sent myself), but that's not really something you can get from a song that's AI generated or an artist that doesn't actually exist. I do feel similarly about AI art in these contests too. Again, I've not paid attention to any contests in ages so I don't know the extent to which hosts have used it, and absolutely no judgement against or disrespect meant towards those who have, but I think I'd personally rather see no banners than those that are entirely AI generated. I think it's more special personally to see art designed by actual people, even if it's rough around the edges - it's why I personally love photo editing and teaching myself new skills on Photoshop! Of course, I know not everyone has the time or resources for this, especially when hosting. Ultimately I think if you want some art in your contest, I'd value a basic attempt at a banner on a free photo editing platform more than a polished AI-generated piece, because it adds much more of a personal touch, especially when it's not actually a compulsory part of BJSC hosting (and I feel similarly about commentaries too - I'd rather no commentary or a very basic one written by whoever's posting it than an AI-generated commentary). The impact of AI on BJSC is neither here nor there for me personally, but this basically applies across the forum too. I'd rather see human skills and hard work reflected.

Please don't be rude when you're the one trying to start an off-topic discussion that we've already had a few times.

We don't need to be having this discussion again, especially when it doesn't have any relevance to this week's chart.

  19. TV: New Drama 1 The War Between the Land and the Sea 2 Adolescence 3 Pluribus 4 Motorheads 5 Heated Rivalry 6 Wayward We begin the TV categories with New Drama, which was a pretty sparse category until the last few weeks, I must confess. Adolescence and Wayward are both limited series from Netflix that I watched earlier in the year, and both were pretty good in their own ways, but Adolescence is the clear winner of the two, with its hard-hitting angle and remarkable one-shot filming approach. Wayward had a weak conclusion but was still a pretty gripping series about a cult in a small town. The only other series I'd seen until recently was Motorheads, a strong coming-of-age drama from Prime, but that unfortunately got cancelled, after a cliffhanger, no less - infuriating! The last part of the year brought my favourite, though. Doctor Who spin-off The War Between the Land and the Sea surpassed my expectations, with a great new approach to the Sea Devils (Homo Aqua), and the best material ever given to Jemma Redgrave's Kate Lethbridge-Stewart. I also enjoyed Pluribus and its quirky yet terrifying storyline, with Rhea Seehorn superbly anchoring the whole show as main character Carol. I only just finished Heated Rivalry, and it got off to a slow start (and, I'll be honest, it could've cut a lot of the sex scenes), but it built towards a fantastic pay-off and an incredible final episode.
  20. It was definitely made more fun by the group watchalong! Thanks Calum
  21. 48 The Angels Take Manhattan Series 7 Episode 5 Doctor: 11th Companion: Amy Pond, Rory Williams, River Song First aired: 29th September 2012 Writer: Steven Moffat It's been a while since we've herd from series 7 - the last episode was The Power of Three at #104! The first half of the series ended with a trip to New York in the present day, where the Doctor, Amy and Rory's calm trip quickly turns disastrous as a book, written by Melody Malone, eerily begins to describe their situation. Quickly, the Doctor and Amy embark on a race to find Rory through time, with the help of River Song, before the Weeping Angels catch up to them. Now, let's get the obvious out of the way - the Statue of Liberty being a Weeping Angel is absolutely daft, despite it being ambitious, iconic imagery! It's the only daft part of the episode, though, because I think it manages to capture the same tense, terrifying vibes of the Angels, even if this is my personal least favourite outing of theirs. It's a fitting send off for both Amy and Rory, and I like that Amy vows that her and Rory stay together, even when he's at the top of the building - it speaks volumes about how far her character's come since her introduction. Their final scene, particularly Amy's goodbye, is heartbreaking, and definitely one of the best companion departure scenes we've had. An ambitious timey-wimey episode but a fitting end to Amy and Rory's story.

The Running Up That Hill scene in season 4 is arguably the best scene in the entire show, certainly one of the most tense/emotional (to the point that it still features prominently in season 5 because it's part of a character's arc). There isn't a song that gets that significant a placement in season 5 so it's no surprise that nothing's dominating so much.
  23. Movies A Very Jonas Christmas Movie Elio KPop Demon Hunters Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl Winter Spring Summer or Fall I say it every year - I'm not much of a movie watcher! It feels right to acknowledge the ones I've actually seen, though, which is the sum total of the five listed right there. A Very Jonas Christmas Movie was a recent suggestion from Jay, and it was... interesting, to say the least! Fun perhaps but not one I'd rewatch. I was nagged to watch the latest Wallace & Gromit movie and I'm glad I did - I remember watching the old ones in movie afternoons at primary school, but I still enjoyed this one despite being a lot older by now. KPop Demon Hunters is a solid watch, enhanced by a great soundtrack. Elio was a movie I watched to kill some time during my trip to Cardiff over the summer, before my hotel room was ready! It was a brilliant movie and it's a shame that a movie with some great neurodiversity representation seems quite underrated by Pixar's standards. My favourite movie of the year goes to Winter Spring Summer or Fall, starring Wednesday co-stars Jenna Ortega and Percy Hynes White. Both play quite different roles to their Wednesday counterparts, and it really pays off, showing they still have great chemistry as actors. The movie's a cute romcom which doesn't reinvent the wheel, but it does what it does well, and I'd happily rewatch it as a comfort movie.
  24. A top 3 of TV shows I know and love! All ambitious and remarkable in their own way. I think Severance was my favourite of the three though, I was gripping from start to finish (especially both finales!!). Obviously loving the Traitors representation too. West End Girl in the albums and loving Abracadabra, Golden and Manchild from the songs so far!
