So congratulations to Harry Styles, who would’ve been fine had he retired after One Direction but instead went on to become one of the more interesting and adventurous pop stars of his era. “I think there’s a lot of things that used to feel like, Okay, there’s a part of your life, then there’s a hard stop, then there’s a next part of your life,” he told Apple Music around the release of 2022’s Grammy-winning Harry’s House. “Things that used to feel so unbelievably foreign to me, sort of terrifying—like, I’m not 19 anymore, so I’m less terrified. And realising [life’s] just one thing, and not chapter over, bye-bye.” Perspective: It helps, whether you’re out there in front of 50,000 people or performing the very first Apple Music Live session. Part of what made One Direction great was that they never shied away from the pleasures of boy-band pop but never patronised their audiences, either: Never mind the no-dancing policy; they wrote their own songs and cultivated their own musical perspectives. Beyond his precision-tooled indie-curious pastiche of classic pop, soft-rock, psychedelia and soul, Styles’ lyrics capture a playfulness and emotional specificity that feels unusual for pop so big, whether it’s the flirtation of “Music for a Sushi Restaurant” (“Green eyes/Fried rice/I could cook an egg on you”) or the image of a kid outrunning an unhappy home on “Matilda” (“You were riding your bike to the sound of ‘It’s No Big Deal’”). That life he’s pontificating about? Listen to the music and you can almost hear him living it. - Apple Music Top 100 Chart History 2017 01 Sign Of The Times -1- MILLIONAIRE 2017 46 Sweet Creature -IG- 2017 51 Carolina -AT- 2017 58 Two Ghosts -2- 2017 64 Meet Me In The Hallway -AT- 2017 66 Kiwi -3- 2017 80 Only Angel -AT- 2017 87 Ever Since New York -AT- 2017 99 Woman -AT- 2019 03 Lights Up -1- 2019 04 Watermelon Sugar -4- MILLIONAIRE 2019 07 Adore You -2- MILLIONAIRE 2019 15 Falling -3- MILLIONAIRE 2020 26 Golden -5- MILLIONAIRE 2022 01 As It Was -1- MILLIONAIRE 2022 02 Late Night Talking -2- MILLIONAIRE 2022 03 Music For A Sushi Restaurant -3- 2022 37 Matilda -AT- 2023 18 Satellite -4- 2026 01 Aperture -1- 2026 01 American Girls -2- 2026 05 Ready, Steady, Go! -AT- 4 x #1 | 9 x Top 5 | 10 x Top 10 | 12 x Top 20 | 14 x Top 40 | 22 x Top 100 Social Media Harry Styles

37 | 33 | 29th week Taylor Swift The Fate Of Ophelia 1st single from The Life of a Showgirl Released: 3rd October 2025 Label: Taylor Swift Chart Statistics NE (16/10/2025) | 1-1-1-2-2-1-1-1-1-17-20-40-2-2-3-4-5-5-17-21-21-26-28-28-30-25-25-33-37 Sales: 1,200,000+ Certification: 2x Platinum Status: Accelerated Chart Ratio 01 Sales 01 Audio Streaming 01 Video Streaming Video Biography The country world feigned surprise when, after three albums of Music Row-indebted songcraft, Taylor Swift formally embraced pop on 2012’s Red. But no one should have been shocked: Any 14-year-old capable of persuading her parents to move from suburban Pennsylvania to Nashville for her career clearly has ambition to burn. And the thrill of following Swift’s rise has been watching her execute it flawlessly, largely because her melodic intelligence is equal to that ambition. Her early, youthful love songs heralded 2010's newly self-possessed Speak Now—which showed off her scathing wit—and evolved into knowing, ironclad pop fare that held its own against boisterous Max Martin production on 1989, her fifth album, titled after her birth year. Throughout, her songwriting has blurred the lines between the public and private, burying enough real-life clues (about, say, scarves and Starbucks) to make clear that only Swift can own her narrative, thank you very much, while still retaining a lyrical elegance. Though 2017’s reputation might have been perceived as a gorgeously constructed piece of dramatic theater—its attendant heroes and villains all real-life characters from Swift's public feuds—all that spectacle proved an attention-grabbing cover for her most romantic album yet. She turned up the romance even more on 2019’s Lover, but it was 2020’s folklore and its companion, evermore—ruminative, relatively lo-fi albums written and recorded during the COVID-19 pandemic—that earned her the Apple Music Award for Songwriter of the Year. She followed those up in 2022 with Midnights, which she wrote and produced with Jack Antonoff, and described as "the stories of 13 sleepless nights scattered throughout my life." In 2023, Swift undertook one of the most ambitious road shows of all time: the multi-year Eras Tour, which saw her presenting new and classic material across more than 100 locales worldwide. It was just one of many reasons she was named Apple Music's Artist of the Year for 2023. Swift returned to the soft, comfortable, bed-like sonics of Midnights for her 11th album, 2024’s THE TORTURED POETS DEPARTMENT. A study in extremes and heightened emotions, the record—which features guest turns from Post Malone and Florence + the Machine—is her most specific, candid, and unsparing work to date. - Apple Music Top 100 Chart History 2009 02 Love Story -1- MILLIONAIRE 2009 60 White Horse -AT- 2009 51 Teardrops On My Guitar -2- 2009 100 Crazier -OST- 2009 30 You Belong With Me -3- MILLIONAIRE 2010 57 Today Was A Fairytale -OST- 2010 30 Mine -1- 2012 67 Safe & Sound (feat. 38 | 34 | 15th week Bruno Mars I Just Might 1st single from The Romantic Released: 9th January 2026 Label: Atlantic Records Chart Statistics NE (22/01/2026) | 6-5-6-8-9-6-8-6-12-12-14-33-26-34-38 Sales: 300,000+ Certification: Silver Status: Accelerated Chart Ratio 01 Sales 07 Audio Streaming 06 Video Streaming Video Biography Bruno Mars has a good story about Prince: Mars is hanging out at an awards show, during a commercial break. The crowd is filled with celebrities. Suddenly, Mars feels the room shift, people part, and there he is, Mars told Apple Music in a 2016 interview—Prince, “just floating by, levitating by.” Prince catches Mars’ eye and gives him a thumbs-up, and Mars—stunned—gives Prince a thumbs-up back. “And that’s it,” Mars said. “What more can you ask?” More than a Prince cosign? How about a stack of multiplatinum records? The privilege of being able to entertain people the world over? Mars has those too. But you get the sense that the nod from Prince was affirmation of a higher order. Even when he was living on instant ramen noodles and trying to find his way into the industry, Mars knew he didn’t just want to be a songwriter or a singer or a producer, but—like Prince, or maybe Michael Jackson—a total pop package, the kind of artist who’s as powerful in the studio as they are onstage. Those records, though: “Uptown Funk,” “Locked Out of Heaven,” “That’s What I Like.” Fun, omnivorous, generation-bridging. The kind of stuff that Mom will be pulling you onto the dance floor for. Mars could do old-fashioned showmanship, could credibly play the crooner with a live band to boot. But he also had an ear for hip-hop and R&B, could—like all great pop—collapse the distance between then and now, Black music and white. Most of all, he knew how much retro was retro enough: Music that made you think about the past, not pine for it. Born Peter Hernandez in Honolulu in 1985, Mars took the stage early, famously doing Elvis impersonations with a family revue at a local hotel before he even hit kindergarten. (In one formative moment, young Mars wet his jumpsuit during “Can’t Help Falling In Love,” but finished without flinching.) As a teenager, he moved to Los Angeles to pursue a deal with Motown Records. The deal went nowhere, but Mars kept himself afloat by writing and producing with a team called The Smeezingtons, which he helped found. In 2010, he released his debut, Doo-Wops & Hooligans. By 2012’s Unorthodox Jukebox, the image had gotten a little grittier, the sound a little more diverse, and the retro affectations—goodbye, pompadour—a little less pronounced. Leaning on the slick bounce of ’80s and ’90s funk and R&B, 24K Magic followed in 2016, sweeping its nominations at the Grammys. A confessed perfectionist, Mars pushes on. “All the statues or Time magazine—that s**t is beautiful and made my parents and my family proud and all that,” he told Apple Music. “But there’s this battle within—that you always wanna. You got this fighter’s spirit. I still feel like I’m chasing to prove something to myself, that I got a better song in me.” - Apple Music Top 100 Chart History 2010 01 Nothin' On You (B.o.B feat. Born in 1999 in Enfield and raised in Walthamstow, Dean participated in gospel choir at a young age, before busking in the streets and eventually attending the famous BRIT School. Influenced by Lauryn Hill, Amy Winehouse and Carole King, Dean’s own take on music is autobiographical and vulnerable. In 2019, she released her debut EP, Ok Love You Bye, which delved into the challenging aspects of dating, like on the meditative “Password Change”. The following year, Dean dropped her follow-up EP, What Am I Gonna Do On Sundays?, a concise but evocative set of songs brimming with celestial melodies and confessional lyrics. Dean’s signature introspective style continues to grow more intimate, as evinced by the delicate 2021 EP Growth, highlighted by the soul-baring single “Be My Own Boyfriend”. - Apple Music Top 100 Chart History 2021 19 The Christmas Song -NAS- 2025 36 It Isn't Perfect But It Might Be -OST- 2025 17 Dive -1- 2025 04 Nice To Each Other -1- MILLIONAIRE 2025 01 Rein Me In (Sam Fender & Olivia Dean) MILLIONAIRE 2025 38 Lady Lady -IG- 2025 01 Man I Need -2- MILLIONAIRE 2025 02 So Easy (To Fall In Love) -3- 2025 13 A Couple Minutes -AT- 2025 21 Let Alone The One You Love -AT- 2026 19 The Hardest Part -1- 2 x #1 | 4 x Top 5 | 4 x Top 10 | 8 x Top 20 | 11 x Top 40 | 11 x Top 100 Social Media Olivia Dean

40 | | 1st week Tyla featuring Zara Larsson SHE DID IT AGAIN 3rd single from A*POP Released: 17th April 2026 Label: FAX Records Chart Statistics NE (30/04/2026) | 40 Sales: - Certification: - Status: Standard Chart Ratio xx Sales xx Audio Streaming xx Video Streaming Video Biography Tyla creates music that is at once indelibly South African and ambitiously global. It’s a unique balance, one molded by the sounds she heard as a child growing up in Johannesburg. Not only did Tyla (born in 2002) listen to plenty of homegrown music, including Kwaito and Afropop, but she was also exposed to ’90s American R&B greats like Aaliyah and Brandy. As with so many artists coming of age in the 21st century, the motivated teenager utilized social media to showcase her swiftly evolving talent; she then teamed up with South African producer Kooldrink for “Getting Late.” The 2019 single is a mesmerizing realization of Tyla’s love for bridging styles. The killer rhythm track is rooted in amapiano, and the singer’s translucent vocals reveal stunning versatility: hypnotic enough for dance music yet packed with pop’s effortless catchiness and R&B’s undiluted soulfulness. Tyla swirled all of those elements together seamlessly for Tyla, her 2024 eponymous debut that crystallized her status as an emerging global superstar. Powered by the irresistible "Water," not to mention the Gunna- and Skillibeng-aided "Jump," the project proved her ability to unite people and genres on the global embassy of the dance floor. - Apple Music Top 100 Chart History Tyla 2023 04 Water -1- MILLIONAIRE 2024 38 Jump (Tyla, Gunna & Skillibeng) -3- 2024 85 ART -2- 2024 23 PUSH 2 START -4- 2025 99 IS IT -1- 2025 15 CHANEL -2- 2026 40 SHE DID IT AGAIN (feat. Missed the top 40 this week? Lana Del Rey First Light Soundtrack single from 007 First Light Released: 16th April 2026 Label: Polydor Records / Interscope Records Video Biography Though she’s got the name and look of a ’60s-era Hollywood star, Lana Del Rey could only have emerged in the internet era. At a time when social media was giving people the power to curate their identities and present idealised versions of themselves online, the struggling singer-songwriter once known as Lizzy Grant (born in New York in 1985) reinvented herself as Lana Del Rey for her epochal 2011 single “Video Games”. The wistful orchestral ballad (and an accompanying Super 8-style video that heralded the ubiquity of soft-focus Instagram filters) introduced an artist who delighted in breaking hearts and the internet alike, knowingly using coquettish sex-kitten cliches as a means to probe male behaviour and, by extension, the American id itself. Not only did the song prove it was possible to cultivate genuine mystique in the age of oversharing, but it also carved out a space for languid, Twin Peaks-worthy arty pop amid a Top 40 normally reserved for jacked-up pop anthems. Since then, Lana has always kept listeners guessing. Informed equally by classic-rock mythology and modern hip-hop attitude, she can casually name-drop Lou Reed in a dream-pop serenade (2014’s “Brooklyn Baby”) as effortlessly as she communes with R&B futurist The Weeknd (2017’s “Lust for Life”). More than a mere retro stylist, Lana embraces nostalgic all-American imagery only to corrupt it through subversive—sometimes profane—anti-love songs while elevating pop-cultural detritus into high art: On 2019’s Norman F*****g Rockwell!—an epic masterwork that scales the heights of Elton John’s early-'70s classics—she makes room for a cover of Sublime’s ’90s stoner-funk anthem “Doin’ Time”. In the 2020s, she’s remained effortlessly provocative at every gripping turn—with the sweeping, self-referential yearning of 2021’s Chemtrails Over the Country Club and Blue Banisters and the sprawling, unfiltered intimacy of 2023’s Did you know that there’s a tunnel under Ocean Blvd, in which she dubbed her candid, stream-of-conscious process “meditative automatic singing”. The BuzzJack Friday Chart Show Thread: 24th April 2026
Missed the top 40 this week? Lewis Capaldi Stay Love 4th single from Survive Released: 17th April 2026 Label: Vertigo Berlin Video Biography Lewis Capaldi’s first two albums—2019’s Divinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extent and 2023’s Broken by Desire to Be Heavenly Sent—broadcast their messy emotional content right there in those sprawling titles. “I think we all attempt to be heavenly sent,” the former Up Next artist told Apple Music in 2023, explaining the latter title. “Everyone strives to be good at something, or find some sort of purpose. And sometimes, in the pursuit of that, it can leave you feeling a bit dejected.” And make no mistake: Capaldi has become one of the most popular young artists of his generation by preserving his songs in a raw, unvarnished state, providing the purest representation of the pain and longing coursing through his lyrics. Amidst the hyper-paced, totally wired world of late-2010s pop, this unassuming Scottish singer-songwriter—born in 1996 in Glasgow—stopped the internet dead in its tracks with his DIY 2017 single “Bruises,” a stark, piano-based breakup ballad that introduced a voice imbued with the sort of soulful grit and deeply felt heartache you wouldn’t expect from a baby-faced 21-year-old. That song was Capaldi’s ticket to major-label deals and tours opening for pop A-listers like Sam Smith and Niall Horan, but he would swiftly join their ranks with Divinely Uninspired…, which fleshed out his sound with lush orchestration and gospel gravitas but retained his fearless flair for emotional dredging. Capaldi proved no less forthcoming on Broken By Desire…, counterbalancing all his success with self-deprecating lyrical turns. Though he took a break from touring after releasing the album in order to improve his mental and physical health, that decisive step felt just as real and necessary as the doubt and passion he airs in his songs. - Apple Music Top 100 Chart History 2018 09 Grace -2- MILLIONAIRE 2018 01 Someone You Loved -3- MILLIONAIRE 2019 06 Bruises -1/5- MILLIONAIRE 2019 04 Hold Me While You Wait -4- MILLIONAIRE 2019 01 Before You Go -6- MILLIONAIRE 2022 01 Forget Me -1- MILLIONAIRE 2022 01 Pointless -2- 2023 24 How I'm Feeling Now -PS- 2023 01 Wish You The Best -3- 2023 28 Haven't You Ever Been In Love Before? -AT- 2024 37 Strangers -4- 2024 59 A Cure For Minds Unwell -AT- 2025 01 Survive -1- 2025 03 Something In The Heavens -2- 2025 44 Almost -IG- 2025 27 The Day That I Die -3- 2026 xx Stay Love -4- 6 x #1 | 8 x Top 5 | 10 x Top 10 | 10 x Top 20 | 14 x Top 40 | 16 x Top 100 Social Media Lewis Capaldi

The Pop Factor: Season 2 • THE FINAL RESULTS
And when Leona's mentor sends A Moment Like This to the final round next year....
-
The Pop Factor: Season 2 • THE FINAL RESULTS
Oh Lily (narrowly) 2nd - I had totally expected 3rd! Chuffed with that
-
The Pop Factor: Season 2 • THE FINAL RESULTS
Aside: Lily getting to send more songs than any other artist this season! She wasn't one of the automatic qualifiers from the female category after Michelle Branch's withdrawal so she played that round, and also played The Scoop, so Lily's been involved with every single round that's been played
-
The Pop Factor: Season 2 • THE FINAL RESULTS
So I've been an enormous Lily fan from the start, her first three albums in particular hugely captured me and defined moments of my life, and West End Girl has placed her firmly back at the top of my affections, cementing itself as one of her best albums. I always loved her bluntness and honesty in her music, whether it was in a more OTT way like Alfie, or something as personal as I Could Say. My aim was to showcase songs from a variety of albums, building momentum as I went, and I think that was largely the case - it's a marathon, not a sprint, and winning individual rounds means nothing as long as you're not eliminated, so I tried as much as possible to use bigger hitters later in the game! It was really fun not having people know who I was. I kept my identity secret last year too even though we didn't have to, and I deliberately chose an artist that I love very much, but wouldn't immediately be traced back to me. It was helped significantly by many of you picking my favourite artists - I could feasibly have been any of Delta, Atomic Kitten, Kesha, Shawn, Ruel, Troye or Conan (particularly in some cases where I'm arguably the most vocal/known stan of a couple ). I'd actually considered Atomic Kitten but wasn't sure they'd get that far, so I was very much living vicariously through @Lukuzz's excellent choices (truly wouldn't have played that much differently at all!). Breaking the choices down a little more (it's long I'm sorry x)... Round 1: The Earth Auditions - URL Badman (9th, 253 points) This one has always been a favourite of mine, even if it wasn't much of a hit in the end. Sheezus is a divisive album but I was all over it in 2014 and this song remains a highlight. Some of the references are outdated but the point it's making remains very relevant nowadays! Was happy to take a risk in this so early in the competition, I figured it probably wouldn't be last and be eliminated (and turns out I didn't even need to worry about that). Round 2: The Orbit Auditions - Who'd Have Known (2nd, 254 points) The problem I found with some of Lily's older music is that I couldn't really gage how popular it was on the site. I think I could've been a little more confident in this down the line maybe as it really seemed to find some fans, and I was thrilled with that! This one was an immediate favourite at the time and again, while it's not one of her biggest hits, it remains a Lily favourite. When I saw her live for the Sheezus Tour, this was the final song of the encore, and it made so much sense despite seeming unusual on paper! Round 3: Boot Camp: Part One - Everyone's At It (5th, 169 points) One I may have saved for later had I known about the album track round, but glad this one still made it through as it's the single that got away in my view. I was torn between this and Knock 'Em Out for an older album track choice, I may have gone for the latter if I'd realised just how It's Not Me, It's You-heavy the first half of my choices ended up being! Lily at her best with the social commentary. Round 4: Boot Camp: Part Two - Tennis (3rd, 238 points) I could've gone for any West End Girl song here really (Madeline exempt given it was a single and this was the album track round, and I had Pussy Palace saved... more on that later x). Tennis is one of the most popular picks on Spotify which is what swung me to this over Ruminating, which was my second option, though I do personally prefer this one too. Was always going to delve into West End Girl but didn't want to rely toooo heavily on it. Round 5: Judges' Houses - 22 (3rd, 205 points) At the time I remember feeling disappointed this was a single instead of Everyone's At It, but it's aged really well for me, particularly given the lyrics are more relevant to me now I'm a lot older than when this came out Round 6: The Black Hole Battles - Fuck You (LOSE) This one had me SHOCKED I'll be honest!! Fuck You is a Lily essential to me, and though it wasn't a single here, it still feels like one of her most well known tracks. Obviously HAIM sent a fan favourite too and it just wasn't a match unfortunately, but I was so confident in this! A humbling moment x Round 7: The Scoop - The Fear (RETURN) I had The Fear pencilled in for the second half of the final unsurprisingly, but by this point, I just had to secure re-entry into the competition so there was no doubt in my mind that it had to be used here. A pop classic in my eyes, so witty and well-written, laced with great social commentary, and once again it's aged so well. I remember hearing it for the first time on MySpace so clearly! I was relieved it won Lily re-entry and was ready to delete the Pop forum if it didn't x Round 8: Live Show One - Madeline (6th, 236 points) The centrepiece of West End Girl, which is a masterpiece of an album. I really wanted to send this but wasn't sure I'd have enough slots - I'm so glad I did though! The entire album is perhaps greater than the sum of its parts, but this still works fantastically well as its own entity. Round 9: Live Show Two - Pussy Palace (7th, 236 points) Y'all really had your pitchforks out for five minutes!!! Pussy Palace was the song I had pencilled in for the ballad round from the second Calum teased such a thing, and it didn't cross my mind that it wasn't really a ballad for a second, so I was a little put out by some of the remarks, especially the suggestion of it being "cheeky" when, in my view, there were a couple of songs that were way less ballad-y than Pussy Palace that didn't get as much attention. It's probably the only part of the competition I didn't really enjoy. Either way, it made it through and I'm glad, because it's a masterpiece of a track - heartbreaking despite (and perhaps because of) the explicit, unwaveringly honest lyrics. Littlest Things would have been the second choice but I wasn't so confident in it, and I wasn't ever planning to use Somewhere Only We Know (too risky for a cover, especially one so associated with winter). Round 10: Live Show Three - LDN (1st, 293 points) Back with a bang, and rightfully so! Finally got to one of my Alright, Still choices, and this one has always been a major favourite of mine. Again, I wasn't really sure what Buzzjack thought of this song these days, so seeing it finish first was a real delight, and reinvigorated my hopes for a final placement. Round 11: Live Show Four - Lost My Mind (4th, 207 points) No Shame is a very overlooked era in Lily's discography, and it's the album I revisit the least. It's deep and heavy, without the pop sensibility or immediate narrative hook of West End Girl. Nonetheless, it's far from being without merit, and it's only right that it got one moment of its own. It was between Trigger Bang and Lost My Mind for this round (and tbf there wasn't much else as it was the flop round) but I figured a Giggs rap in the first minute wasn't the best hook for a pop contest on here and I think I chose correctly, I love the vibe of Lost My Mind and it's a surefire highlight from the album. Round 12: The Semi Final - Not Fair (SAFE) I worried about this one being potentially divisive but I'm glad the love came through for it. I dithered over how early I should play this given I was uncertain but I made the right decision. One of her most fun tracks undoubtedly. Round 13: The Grand Final: Part One - Smile (SAFE) Another pop classic and I always had this pencilled in for round 1 of the final. I was really hoping it would make it into the top 3 so I could outdo my placement from last year! Loved this from the moment I heard it, and it kickstarted not just my love of Lily, but opened the door to Kate Nash who followed a year later (and Kate's debut album is my favourite of all time). Round 14: The Grand Final: Part Two - Hard Out Here Originally The Fear's moment to shine had things gone a little more smoothly, it was up to Hard Out Here to carry the torch for the final leg. I did have this pencilled in earlier but wasn't sure, so ultimately swapped it for The Fear after I had to use that one sooner. It's actually very fitting though, because this is my personal favourite Lily track, and getting into the final, whilst it guaranteed that I'd outplace last season, it more importantly gave me the chance to send my own favourite Lily song. Though Somewhere Only We Know was her comeback single in 2013, this was the real comeback moment and I'll never forget how immediately it hooked me. Deliberately explicit to make its point, Hard Out Here unfortunately remains very relevant now, and it's all packed into one of Lily's biggest bops. Its placement in the final would never have bothered me and I had no expectations to win by this point, but as far as I'm concerned, I couldn't have gone out on a bigger high. It's been a real hoot once again, thanks so much to Calum for hosting (your effort has been second-to-none for a second year) and for everyone else making it a really fun journey. I've made some great discoveries and rediscoveries (I totally forgot about Summer Sunshine by The Corrs but what a fantastic track!), and I'm so happy I got to deliver my full vision for Lily! tl;dr - thank you baby x

The Pop Factor: Season 2 • THE FINAL RESULTS
Congratulations Julian!! Really well played with some intriguing choices along the way, and so many more classics that could've been used. Controversially I've never actually been much of an ABBA fan I'm afraid, but I'm glad my favourite (Gimme) was given an outing. I've added your Pop Factor widget! Commiserations to Scene, you played a blinder and I wouldn't have been at all surprised if you'd taken it home a second year running! My Lily post is incoming when I finish typing it x
