OPINION POLLS 2019-2024
Local tactical voting being organised? Even with it overturning the existing majority seems unlikely for anyone. I know Labour have no chance my post was pointing thar out. I'd be amazed if the Lib Dems managed to win it, they were distant third to Labour in 2019. The Tories are in a bad state but surely not that bad? Just read the polling reports. Blimey - this is political realigning level stuff. Could the next election be fought between Lib Dems and Labour?

A lot of comments in Russian-like/eastern European languages. I guess old phones might be more common in those countries?

Doctor Who: Flux • The Vanquishers
If you wanna do direct compares with the original run it's now been running 16 years as 'New Who' which would be the equivelant of 1979 when the show was achieving the highest ratings it ever has (yes I'm aware of the ITV strike but even outside of that the show was doing well). The show is definitely not in as good a health level as it was then. Whilst I don't think it will be cancelled in the next few years (between the Sony deal, the international market for its old episodes still being healthy and the fact Amazon/Netflix would pick it up asap if it was all point to it continuing). A year or two's rest (there still doesn't seem to be much clarity on whether RTD will do a series before the 60th, you'd hope there's be a Jan-Mar series or Aug-Oct and then the 60th special rather than only specials in both 2022 and 2023. I honestly think the shows suffered from a case of getting a bit stuck up it's own arse since the Matt Smith/Clara stuff (not that everything since is entirely without merit) and neverly fully recovered. The whole Timeless Child arc is just that on steroids tbf - I'm also pretty annoyed at the whole rewriting canon bollocks. I'd hope that Russel T Davies manages to go back to the adventures type feel of his original era. Anyway the prospect of only 3 episodes next year does mean it might be time to finally go and watch all the classic run in order instead of dipping in and out with random episodes, and maybe rewatch the new ones too. With Britbox there's really no excuse anymore.

OPINION POLLS 2019-2024
Johnson's quite lucky that this is an ultra safe seat. GE 62.7 Con 22.1 Lab Poll change from GE -11.6 Con +8.9 Lab 51.1 to 31.0 would be the expected votes if even the worst of these opinion polls are right. Obviously by-elections are never that predictable with all the extra candidates and low turnouts but any less than 50% of the vote has to be the beginning of the end for Boris as PM.

This is why it's so toxic to everybody. For those who disagree with the restrictions, the part is confirmation of what they already thought in that it's all a load of old bollocks and was never about Covid but just about control, after all the government weren't abiding by the rules - they even had a party in the middle of a full lockdown in their area!! For those who have actually seen the impact of Covid first-hand, or believe the restrictions are necessary it's essentially showing that the government weren't prepared to walk the walk as well as talk the talk on what they were doing, and seem to have been introducing the restrictions they have more out of optics and bowing to public pressure than genuinely believe in them. Whichever side of the argument you're on, the government can be painted to have betrayed you. I honestly wouldn't be suprised if they poll an incredibly low figure in North Shropshire.

UK Ratings Discussion • 2021
F1 final will be broadcast on C4 after a deal with Sky, seems like it could get a pretty hefty rating.

This is actually good. Like brilliant, but I always liked Axel F as well to be fair. Although really NFTS shilling? Axel F to come off ACR as a result?

Doctor Who: Flux • The Vanquishers
Yes, ratings are down across the board but there was a time it was one of the biggest shows on telly, it hasn't been so for years. An yes, for a 16 year old show (if we only count the new incarnation) that's not entirely unexpected but it now looks as though it could hit 'a new low' (new series overnights, it would take a special kind of failure to consolidate to Battlefield Part One's 3.1m  ) for the NYE special with it going up against The Masked Singer

How long will Boris last as PM?
Until Covid ends. Who else wants to deal with it?

Doctor Who: Flux • The Vanquishers
Yet more mess for the next show-runner to clear up then with more timey-wimey nonsense to add to the existing stack. Chibnall real seems to have wanted to leave a lasting impact on the show, to be honest part of me really hopes RTD just turns round and does a Dallas 'it was all a dream' thing. The Timeless Children was going to leave the show going in a weird direction, but it's all mental. The peripheral characters in this series were more rounded than anything in this incarnation of the Doctor despite feeling closer to 'Classic Who' flat characters. And Chris Chibnall's now upheaved the entire cannon of Doctor Who and introduce lives that didn't exist, just for the Doctor to throw them away and not explore it at all. Sorry but that's a complete let-down, what was the point? I'm all for developing new canon, but to completely upheave the entire show's mythology to then not change anything is pointless. Don't get me wrong I found this series far more entertaining than anything in Series 11 or Series 12 but the whole things just ridiculously implausible now. Looking at ratings, a move to weeknights doesn't seem implausible if the next series doesn't capture the imagination.

Most UK Top 40 singles?
I started trying to work this out manually (I've got up to 1956 with Frankie Laine currently way out in front) as I couldn't find the information easily, but was wondering if anybody knew the answer to who has the most overall top 40 singles? Figured it might be a stat someone round here knew anyway?

The Tory lies and deceit thread
There's a difference between a No Confidence Vote in the government in parliament and a no confidence vote in the Prime Minister within the Tory Party. I don't think anyone's seriously suggesting the former when the Tories have a whopping majority, but the very fact the Tories have a whopping majority means their unlikely to want to lose it and makes the latter possible,

The internal Tory party procedure will likely be how he's booted and out, and the Tories have shown in recent years to know how that process works.

It broke in the US before here I think, being bilingual probably means it gets heavy rotation in many areas.

The Tory lies and deceit thread
Actually I think for a lot of people this is the final straw. After all the sacrifices they've made, this is how the people telling them it was necessary were thinking. Anyway Boris is busy trying to play to the base with buzzword Tory bingo.. Boris Johnson says Sir Keir is "playing politics" and the government is dealing with immigration controls and changing the law to tackle with county lines drug gangs.

Blame the underlings, it's worked for him in the past so why stop now?

Which suggest the person who leaked that video is a massive lockdown sceptic then, trying to make it impossible for him to announce any of that. The biggest issue is, who the f*** is going to listen when we now the government weren't?

Top of the Pops 2021 Specials
I honestly think it'd work best on a Sunday night in what's now the Doctor Who slot, or as a lead in lead out to Strictly (either the main show on Saturday/the results show). Running it every week would be complete overkill but two series a year - one in the spring and one in the autumn would surely be enough.

Where next for the pop group?
With BTS having to announce and 'extended break' to take an amount of time off that most artist wouldn't even announce 'December to March' may most musicians just don't want the relentless scheduling that comes from being in these types of groups?
