  1. I don't think these Adele CDs are going to played hundreds of times.
  2. To be fair there's only 1k-ish streams between Can I Get It and My Little Love
  3. #35 Tony Brent - Got You On My Mind Debut: 29 January 1953 Peak: 12 WoC: 1 Chart Run: 12 9Kgn6qOhxEg Tony Brent’s 3rd hit on the UK singles chart in less than 3 months, but also his last appearance until 1956’s Cindy Oh Cindy. Can't say I'm particular in mourning of that fact. A nice enough tune but solely that- but also more importantly on my end there's not a great deal of info about a fair few of his hits! He was born Reginald Bretagne but chose to change his name for his recordings, somebody else with the same first name did that many years later didn't they. Can't think who?
  4. So Adele's special's audience is a load of celebrities. https://twitter.com/Adele/status/1462127437362315268 I really wish they'd do these in front of audiences of layman fans.
  5. We seemed to have reached a steady point now where 10m daily streams indicates a unique level of success as far as Spotify is concerned on a global basis. The data used for this only goes back to 1 Jan 2017 but it seems unlikely anything prior to that broke 10m daily streams. Olivia Rodrigo is by far and away the queen of the streaming era, with Justin Bieber and Kid Laroi following closely behind. Adele and Drake come in close behind - despite Adele not releasing anything until the last month this chart covers. I'll try to update this regularly. Obviously Christmas comes along to make things more interesting but those are the stats. 6. Is it too early for Christmas watch. A quick scan of the spotify charts website suggest Bad Bunny, Jhay Cortez's - Dakiti was the only non-Christmas song in 2020 to do more than 10 million streams globally in a single day. This year there's been 51 occasions when songs have done 10m global streams in a single day and it's only November. Surely we going to be looking at potentially 25-30m global daily streams for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day?

I'd have thought she'd have at least but To Be Loved on the setlist
  8. She's definitely had an album boost for Easy on Me globally. It's most streamed day globally since 18 October.
  9. In a just world this would be Top 40 - seems unlikely though. A lot of fans of State of Trance are not happy about it by the looks of it though. I don't really get why, surely artists are allowed to deviate.
  10. Yup, it's a great song beautifully song by Perry Como A lot of big bands are far better than they're ever given credit for. We'll see a fair few popping up for a few more years yet before rock and roll made them a bit outdated and uncool for the next generation.
  11. Was Sheeran the last artist to have the entire album in the top spots on Spotify on album release day?
  12. I'm not sure she will end up going more experimental - I'm going to imagine the directive on her next album contract will be '19 or 21 not 25 or 30'
  13. On Adele, if the TV special leads to huge streaming increases next week do we think we might finally see ITV prioritising music programming again with TV specials. Doing them with artists like Olivia Rodrigo, Ed Sheeran, Sam Fender, Ariana Grande etc who are known outside the teen bopping demographic could be great for ITV and the labels, could also do them with older names (like the Noel Gallagher one but on ITV instead of ITV2). Could be a really good strategy for them and the labels.
  14. The OCC seriously do need to start slashing the stream to physical ratio on albums to discourage this nonsense re multi-formats or limiting one version to counting to the chart for each format. In reality it's probably not as surprising as we first think for Adele's Spotify numbers to be as low as they are. Her last album came out 6 years ago, and she probably would have been viewed by 10 year old kids then as someone your mum listens to. Those 8-10 year old kids are now the 16 year olds who don't even know what a CD (an exaggeration but they certainly aren't buying them) is and stream constantly on Spotify. I can't imagine there going to listen to Adele out of much more than curiousity. There does seem to be less willingness to listen to entire albums on Spotify these days, as evidenced by Ed Sheeran's = performance so getting the entire Top 12 is good going.
  15. Young people don't watch telly. Older people buy the track to make sure it's donation counts. Anyway the raw numbers are a bit disappointing for Adele on Spotify but still impressive that she's got the entire Top 12. As has been said a fair few times on here though, she's not a big streaming artist tradition, I'd also hazard a guess she disproportionately skews to Apple and Amazon
  16. Ageism? No boys that's the music industry. You weren't complaining about late 70s and early 80s bands not being playlisted in Radio 1 at the height of your fame.
  17. +5 Meet Me at Our Spot +4 Heat Waves +3 Cold Heart +2 Easy on Me +1 Shivers -1 Bad Habits -2 Overpass Graffiti -3 Love Nwantiti -4 Obsessed With You -5 Flowers (Say My Name)
  18. Not the worst think they've released.
  19. 1953 - 2 weeks - Stargazers - Broken Wings (1) / Patti Page - How Much is That Doggie in the Window (1) 1954 - 15 weeks - David Whitfield - Answer Me / Eddie Calvert - Oh Mein Papa / The Stargazers - I See The Moon 1960/1961 - 21 weeks - Cliff Richard / Adam Faith / Emile Ford / Michael Holliday / Anthony Newley / Adam Faith 1962 - 30 weeks - Cliff Richard and the Shadows - Bachelor Boy / The Shadows - Dance On / Jet Harris and Tony Meehan - Diamonds / Frank Ifield - The Wayward Wind / Cliff Richard and the Shadows - Summer Holiday / The Shadows - Foot Tapper / Cliff Richard and the Shadows - Summer Holiday / Gerry & The Pacemakers - How Do You Do It / The Beatles - From Me To You / Gerry and the Pacemakers - I Like You / Frank Ifield - Confessin That I Love You Things get complicated after this….. Counting Shakespeare’s sister as British despite having an American member- 1991 / 1992 - 32 weeks - George Michael & Elton John - Don’t Let The Sun Go Down on Me / Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody / Shakespeare’s Sister - Stay / Right Said Fred - Deeply Dipply / KWS - Please Don’t Go / Game Boy / Erasure - ABBA-esque EP / Jimmy Nail - Ain’t No Doubt At that point I gave up out of frustration and also not wanting to go back and check nationalities of band members for all the other tracks that had hit No 1 before that, or work out what to do with those who held dual nationalities or moved into the UK as kids so haven't check most of the 90s/00s/10s.
  20. Does Spotify update streams for albums during the day. strangers by nature now has 170,000 next to it on the album (presumably global?) but you'd surely expect it to have done a lot more?
  21. 87 views on YouTube though, seems odd that it's so high on Itunes. Sounds like another band who owes a fair bit to early Arctic Monkeys. Either way Wigan definitely seems to be the centre of something as far as indie goes.
  22. #34 Perry Como with The Ramblers - Don’t Let The Stars Get In Your Eyes Debut: 22 January 1952 Peak: 01 WoC: 15 Chart Run: 10-8-3-1-1-1-1-1-2-2-4-5-3-5-9 SOoXSnrEIYk The first hit on the chart for Perry Como (on this occasion with "The Ramblers") he'd go on to have another 25 hits just as Perry Como, the last coming in 1974 with "I Want to Give You" peaking at 31. He'd however only manage a second No 1 with Magic Moments in 1958 which would spend 8 weeks in the chart. It peaked at No 1 with 5 weeks occupying the spot between the run of aforementioned Outside of Heaven and Lita Roza's How Much Is That Doggie in the Window. It also reached No 1 in the US. The B Side was To Know You Is To Love You. It was written by Texan musician Slim Willet.

Tbh Adele could have probably got away with the 15 minute version at this stage in her career, I sometimes wish artists would just go out and release the full versions instead of saying 'oh well it was this long but I had to cut it'.
  24. Although a lot of them get sick of it or realise it's having a bad influence on their work. Alex Turner's moved to London which is a good sign for the next AM record.
  25. She lives in LA.
