One of a large number of hits throughout the 1950s for the extremely popular Trinidian pianist who would go on to have two No 1 singles in the coming years with Let's Have Another Party (1954) and The Poor People of Paris (1956). History has been slightly less kind to her than some of the other artists of her era but the record books stand to her extraordinary contemporary popularity.

An upbeat song about the perils of the early stages of a new love. It had a lengthy spell in the Top 12 at 16 weeks, peaking with a solitary week at Number 1 sandwiched between fellow one week No 1's You Belong To Me and Outside of Heaven, the latter of which we'll get too fairly soon and the former of which we've already covered. Kay Starr's career would remain fairly low-key for the next few years with her achieving a couple of UK Top 10s, she'd fair rather better in the US where the charts already extended to the top 40 and thus many less popular but still popular songs of hers charted. She'd finally achieve her second UK No 1 in 1956 with The Rock & Roll Waltz. It's also noticeable for being the last hit song written by Al Sherman, before he handing over to his sons The Sherman Brothers - who are famous for their work on musicals down the years.

It is truly awful though.

Was rather hoping Sheeran and Adele would release a cover of Fairy-tale of New York to be honest.

To be fair this album cycle will be the first time the two titans are going to get equal contest on exactly the same terms since their early career, with Adele's last album cycle being before some of the biggest changes (caused by Ed himself) to the chart rules. So might be the best chance we get to see how they stand against each other.

Her singles chart record isn't particularly anything to write home about to be completely honest. Only 8 weeks at No 1 compared to Ed's 55.

Ah yes, another tax that disproportionately affects the poorer young and younger middle aged and not the older wealthy middle aged. But with many people (possibly most) with student loans working in jobs that don't pay anywhere near £27k it's not surprising they want to lower it to enfold them. Minimum wage for a 40 hour job. If the rumoured min wage increase to 9.42 goes ahead and they lower the threshold to 20k.that would be dangerously close to people on minimum wage paying student loan.(A few shifts a year overtime would do it assuming a 40 hour week) That said constantly raising the threshold as has been done for the past decade was never sustainable. Anyway we all learnt what misogny was as kids didn't we?
