Though some would suggets otherwise. Thanks to the trio of other members for your emails this week & I hope you have recieved the charts I sent to you for various days & the sales numbers etc. Which does actually prove we don't just sit down & scribble a load of rot down each week. Don't forget the Classic Retro Countdown with Mr Taylor & Richard Todd on Sunday (Atlantic Oldies 2NG) at 2pm. If you missed last week's it was May 1977 & you can hear it, if you contact me because I'm not allowed to post links (against rules). I've now taken over as Producer on the Fresh Hit40UK & that chart is now ahead of everyone else on Sundays, cos we use a 24 hour sliding scale from iTunes & those itsy bitsy physicals giving us virtual midweek charts 3 days early. Thanks for reading. All other comments gladly welcome.

A Monday Chart
You are right. Although I have actually neglected the fact that Blue were 12 & 45 on iTunes when I compiled the list. So, from the last 5 years average a song at 45 (overall) sales about 900 copies on a Monday. Then, there's the ongoing physical copy. It then should be in front of J. Lo at #9 & J. Lo at 10 & Jessie J at 11. Well it's only a couple out. Too many figures!

A Monday Chart
Now for those of you that follow the Almost Saturday Chart on Fridays & are so amazed of its credibility~Let's see if it can be close to Tuesday Midweeks! Though on Tuesdays (if you follow Tuesday Mids) there is lots of missing info, so it can't be taken to seriously. So, as I explain on Friday concerning the Almost Saturday Chart. Here is just the Monday portion of what will be incuded with it come Friday. At this point though it's just downloads alone in a Top 60 format: 60 TWO DOOR CINEMA CLUB 59 DR DRE 58 ARTIC MONKEYS 57 GOOD CHILD FOUNDATION 56 NOAH & THE WHALE ~ LIFE GOES ON 55 BEYONCE 54 NICKI MINAJ ~ SOUL BASS 53 BRUNO MARS ~ JUST THE WAY YOU ARE 11) 52 RIHANNA ~ WHOS THAT CHICK 51 LENA ~ SATELLITE 50 A FRIEND IN LONDON ~ A NEW TOMORROW 49 WIZ KHALIFA ~ ROLL UP 48 BRITNEY SPEARS 47 WIZ KHALIFA ~ BLACK & YELLOW 46 CHRIS BROWN ~ YEAH 3X 45 MARTIN SOLVEIG ~ HELLO 10) 44 BRUNO MARS ~ GRENADE 43 GLEE ~ I FEEL PRETTY-UNPRETTY 42 ERIC SAADE 41 RIHANNA ~ CALIFORNIA KING BED 40 NICOLE ~ RIGHT THERE 39 NICOLE - DON'T HOLD YOUR BREATH 38 KANYE WEST 37 RIHANNA ~ S & M 36 JERMAINE STEWART 35 ELL & NIKKI 34 JESSIE J ~ PRICE TAG 9) 33 ADELE ~ ROLLING IN THE DEEP 8) 32 BLACK EYED PEAS 31 CEE LO GREEN 30 TRACY CHAPMAN 29 CHASE & STATUS 7) 28 MANN 27 JEDWARD 26 WYNTER GORDON 25 BIRDY 24 LOPEZ & LIL' WAYNE 23 TAKE THAT 22 NERO 6) 21 WRETCH 32 20 YASMIN 5) 19 SWEDISH HOUSE MAFIA 18 DEV 17 KATY PERRY 16 ADELE ~ SOMEONE LIKE YOU 15 INNA 14 ALEXANDRA STAN 13 LADY GAGA ~ BORN THIS WAY 4) 12 SNOOP DOGG 11 BLUE 3) 10 JESSIE J ~ NOBODY'S PERFECT 09 JENNIFER LOPEZ & PITBULL 08 LADY GAGA ~ JUDAS 2) 07 DAVID GUETTA 06 LADY GAGA ~ EDGE OF GLORY 05 ALOE BLACC 04 CHRIS BROWN & BENNY BENASSI 03 LMFAO 02 PITBULL, AFORJACK, NE-YO, NAYER 01 BRUNO MARS ~ THE LAZY SONG 1) * Based on average downloads for Monday (2005 - 2008). ) Without Downloads Alone If Judas surpasses a thousand in Physical sales, she is likely to be about the number 4 spot here. But that is speculation on my part.

Almost Saturday Chart Singles 13th May 2011
Dave would not have known at this point last week, as I neglected to say anything because on the Good Friday week it made no difference & I hadn't even thought about it this time last week. I just emailed Dave the chart & then he posted it to Tom I believe. On Take That: Mark Goodier gave it the first play in the UK. Instantly, people reacted. It got a no-no & someone suggested it sounds like early Tears For Fears.

Just one more thing: I've been reading another part of some other post about Radio One i.e. should the Chart Show be assigned to another station? I think this to be a rather stupid question really. The BBC partially own the Radio One Top 40. Since it's inception on 11th February 1969. The chart is largely a reflection of the teenage market today. Radio One is a teenage station. Radio 2 is an adult come all round station, that does not play everything in the Radio One chart. That is why it will never leave Radio One. The adult market would more likely buy Rumer, The Pierces, & Hurts to Rihanna, Pitbull, & Lady GaGa. On the Reggie Yeats front: Reggie is in to reflect an average teenager (well big kid)! Though it's more like he also reflects a multi-cultural front. I don't see that he will be removed in the near future. That's that. All other comments appreciated~

Almost Saturday Chart Singles 13th May 2011
Hi all, Mike for Dave on this occasion. Now before the thread begins, I have to clarify some points made on last week's thread as many comments were made. Dave handed over the chart to me in April because he now does a different chart for Internet Radio (which some of you may know). Actually the most listened to chart across the Internet in the world. But away from that. Now last week our top 3 read: 03 BRUNO MARS - LAZY SONG 02 LMFAO 01 GUETTA/FLO RIDA/NICKI MINAJ On Sunday, bang came the comments. Though no one saw fit to contact Dave personally. Which we found rather nasty, as Dave has put a lot of time/work & money into this chart since 2008. Now, the difference here from the Radio One Top 40 was questioned. Some non chalant called it "a farce". Another "just guessed bad estimations", another asked "What went wrong?" The answers will be coming, but first let's get back to whence this chart came from in the first place. It originated from Record Business Magazine, who compiled a chart for Independant Radio from April 1978 - January 1983. They went into reiceivership. Dave, Simon Johnson, Myself, & the late Barry Lazell worked for MRIB, which grew from the ashes of Record Business. Barry was the person who first brought us the Indie Chart in 1980. He passed away a few years back. The MRIB Singles Chart began in 1984 & was used by the music paper "Sounds". Another version of the chart was used for Independant Radio's Network Chart from September 1984 - July 1993. The original Record Business chart was a top 120 in April 1978. The 1st 2 number ones were Denis by Blondie & Baker Street by Gerry Rafferty. That chart was a sales top 30 from 150 shops. With the 31-120 including airplay. It differed from Radio One, because at the time, the Radio One chart used Panel Sales, differing shops polled every week. Record Business always polled the same shops. The MRIB Network Chart consisted of a Top 10 sales chart from 150 shops, plus the 11-75 including a 10% rating of Airplay. It was ahead of Radio One, because Radio One still announced their chart on Tuedays at 12.45pm until October 1987. In 1993, Independant Radio dropped the MRIB Chart, for the Radio One top 10 & a 50/50 sales/airplay quota in the 11-40 positions. MRIB continued publishing a chart until 2008 & then stopped after MSN stopped running it. MRIB as a company continued with film/video charts until 2009. Between October 2007 & April 2008, Dave Taylor & Trevor Collins began listing the Top 50 on Buzzjack every Saturday. When MRIB ceased the chart, Dave, Simon, & Myself still had the database. So, we began using it to carry it on for the site. Dave & the gang compile the chart like this: The database contains average sales for any day of the year, based on position. Only the 2005 - 2008 period has any significance these days. The positions are worked around a combination of average positions in percentage from most download sites. The biggest being iTunes of course (although the most expensive). From those averaged positions, we have a sales figure for the day in question. On a Friday afternoon, we add them altogether & then add in any relevant physical sale (although these days it's only relevant from the physical top 3, because nothing else is worth adding in). When all is added in, we get a set of figures to base the chart on. For the last 6 weeks, i've been doing this & over the last 2 weeks (due to Bank Holidays & time out), i've only used Weds/Thurs/Friday's info. The 29th April chart did not make any difference to the outcome. However last Friday it did. The sales of Guetta & co were affected because it went to number one on Wednesday of some download sites. While I ignored any Sun/Mon/Tuesday sales from any other singles, so it gave a big portion more to Guetta & not LMFAO. For those 3 days, these were the sales I got: BRUNO MARS 29,312 LMFAO 30,647 GUETTA 32,988 Of course Guetta finished ahead, because it had an advantage because it went to number one on Wednesday on some sites, where as LMFAO was number one for the days I had not included. Had I included those Sun/Mon/Tues sales, yes it would have matched Radio One on Sunday. So, hope that clarifies that. On another point: We do not estimate sales to include Saturday. Hence GaGa was not sited on the Friday, she released Judas. Though, we did look at it on the Saturday & Dave edited it in, when it was number 16 during the Afternoon. Lastly on this: At times, a fellow chartwatcher as passed on acurate sales. Which Dave has posted at times. We no longer do that because of other allegations. Hence, a chart mod on this site asked Dave via email for some info. Dave gave them it in confidence & the person went off to another site & posted it causing further problems. We know who was & the matter was dealt with. Dave is no longer a chart mod on this site, because he is less active than he used to be. Probably in body at his age too. :D Anyway that out of the way. Here are my findings this week: The Top Physicals: 01 01 BLUE 02 NE BRUNO 03 NE HURTS The Top 75 bit: OLLY MURS Top 70 HURTS ARTIC MONKEYS NOAH & THE WHALE NICOLE ~ RIGHT THERE Top 60 60 CALIFORNIA KING BED ~ RIHANNA 59 PERFECT ~ PINK 58 DOWN DOWN DOWN ~ CHARLIE SIMPSON 57 BORN THIS WAY ~ GLEE 56 TAKE IT BACK ~ TODDLA T 55 SOMETHING GOOD CAN WORK ~ TWO DOOR CINEMA CLUB 54 MAKE YOU FEEL MY LOVE ~ ADELE 53 LIFE GOES ON ~ NOAH & THE WHALE 52 CHAMPION ~ CHIPMUNK & CHRIS BROWN 51 I NEED A DOCTOR ~ DR DRE I'll be back for the top 50 shortly~
