Another listen in and I'm weirdly starting to like it in some sort of 'it's always nice to root for the underdog plus his vocals make me slightly more confident about my own abilities' way. Feel like if the actual singer in the band did it it would go down in my estimation over the next few weeks rather than up. Oh no they've brainwashed me again.

Obviously loving the nostalgic 00s and 10s bangers on a Sunday morning but if Nat O'Leary had said 'babes' one more time yesterday morning I would have thrown the radio into Rotherham. Yes I know I'm not in the target audience, but neither is she!

When I started this I was thinking of 'one era wonders' but definitely would include Jake Bugg in this. Two era wonder!

I would also like to throw The Darkness in the ring. Though they probably had no idea they'd get that big in the first place to be fair. Would you count Franz Ferdinand? They definitely left it too long between albums 2 and 3. You could probably add countless 'landfill indie' bands that were huge in the mid-2000s and pop toast by 2008. Naming no names but one of them sang about America, hoping to get a huge hit in America.

Good shout. I only really liked Young Dumb & Broke but remember several more singles on the radio at his height but nothing since. When me and my mate went to R1's Big Weekend we just sat down and chatted facing away from the stage whilst he was on. Boring as feck. And the Disclosure collabs were amongst the most lifeless and tedious chart hits I've ever heard. Will never understand what people got out of those!

Classic example, but feel like Zara pulled it back for a bit even if she probably has had her last hit. Can never write her off! Maybe I should throw Tinie (Tempah) into the ring. And Natasha Bedingfield (although Unwritten obviously came back two decades later).

La Roux anyone? Another one that left it too long.

I feel like Katy Perry fell off gradually and lasted a lot longer than many acts could ever dream of. Didn't Nelly F get a good five years out of it? Ironically, you can hear her on R1 a lot with a song that samples the last one they ever bothered with to my knowledge. Feel like if I went back to Big Hoops now it would sound really underwhelming without a donk on it.

Shoddy material not only this time round but in the Smile era too. Can't just be her age as the likes of Beyonce and Kylie are older/much older and doing just fine! The 2017 material didn't exactly set the chart world on fire but I was rather partial to the likes of Chained To The Rhythm, Swish Swish etc.

Feel like Glynne left it too long, but apparently she's a bit of a diva so probably saw herself as the kind of global megastar that could get away with a long hiatus. I remember when she didn't turn up for Radio 1's Big Weekend because she was 'ill' or something, though the word on the street was that she'd been partying too hard supporting the Spice Girls.

As a lifelong Manics fan who bought their first MSP single when I was 11 (I helped Life Becoming A Landslide get to #36 cos cheap cassette single and the influence of a 5 star review in Smash Hits) who has stuck with them through thick and thin, I have to say this is TURD. And it's not just cos of the Nicky Wire vocal cos Decline & Fall sounded like the theme to a bogstandard daytime game show too. I echo the view that International Blue is their best single from the past ten years, probably more.

A conversation involving Alanis Morissette in another thread inspired this. Obviously Duffy springs to mind, but who else went from absolutely dominating the chart to struggling to make an impact on the popular consciousness in such a short period of time? I definitely don't feel like Sabby C will be enjoying this level of success in three years time, nevermind five or ten, and I quite like her. GO!
