If you can't use your mobile while driving, drink or eat why the f*** can you still smoke?
Well I never knew that... I drink water all the time while I drive esp when I'm driving back from the north.
It should be banned really cos it is only like using a mobile phone, but they do not seem to care about people on their phones around business areas. I see so many people using their phone so I just give them a gesture!

I thought I should start a topic on a song I have fell in love with all over again. (Which I have my dad to thank, he played this song when I was back home 2 weeks ago, which I am playing now lol.)
As this song was used in protest for sending an innocent man to jail for a crime he never did (killings), I think this is a fantastic song with the history of Rubin Carter not that it helped him though he got let out 20 years later, well I mean it did help cos he did get supporters from this song just years later. It don't help mind when it was back in the day of racism and framing, if it was a fair trial and they actually listened to Bello changing his story over and over again he wouldn't have lost 20 years of his life.
I would post up the video but I don't know how to do it, so check it out on youtube!!

What people are saying is that teachers deserve the pay rise because they're doing a job which they spend as much time away from their place of work working on as they do there. Like footballers don't get paid to play for an hour and a half each week, they also train 5 days a week but they're KNOWN for their weekly game, teaching has a lot of behind-the-scenes work which people don't take any notice of, and so deserve the money they're paid.
The thread has developed from simply 'should teachers have more money' to a discussion about teachers as a whole :)
I agree they are intitled to the money they work for, but I just think the issue is being clouded.
Clearly it is all about money, therefore I don't get why people are confusing the argument about the profession being "dangerous". If they actually thought their lives was in danger surely they'd strike over that issue than about money!?

The fact that he was so dismissive of the one teacher that he did know, and was probably trying to point out to him that teachers don't get all this holiday a year, and don't work six hour days, he just dismissed as a "moaner" and fell out with.... Says it all really.....I used to think along the same lines as Chris, but then my friends who are teachers put me straight on the facts of the job.... It's not "moaning" at all when people are try to give you the facts and shake you out of a false perception, funnily enough, it's called "education".....
And he hasn't even attempted[i/] to address the facts that teachers these days are increasingly becoming targets for threats and assaults from pupils and chavvy parents.... What happened to Philip Lawrence is the most publicised example, but there are FAR more cases of threats and assaults upon teachers which go unreported in the media, depressingly this is not a freak occurrence... The example I gave of my friend being threatened with sexual assault really brought home to me just how potentially dangerous [i/]the job has become.... Unlike police, teachers dont get issued with pepper spray, stab vests, handcuffs and truncheons.....
Do you know someone in every profession? :P
Just to clarify I haven't had time to read the whole thread, so I will apologise to you Scott if I have missed this point. On the first page it says about the teachers strike is for money, yet you are saying about how dangerous the job has become. Now, is this the actual reason for the strike or even part of it or is it just for the pay rise?

It is about time that this measure was introduced
It is absolutely illogical that a 17 year old can pass a test then take his dads Ferrari out on a motorway at high speed when he has no experience of going over 30 mph barely, I don't think these measures go far enough there should be
1) A maximum cc of 1200cc for any driver under the age of 21
2) Skid pan training and wet weather training bought in as part of the test
3) A follow up test after 2 years of passing first test to ensure standards still met
So what if the cost is higher and kids need more lessons, so be it, peoples lives and limbs should not come with a price tag, if a young driver can afford a car they can bloody well afford to go through the training however much it costs, automatic prison sentences should be introduced for anyone who drives illegally
Thats rubbish! New drivers can't get insurance for a sports car, not even an old banger that only cost £200, if they won't insure you for that you ain't going to get insured for a Ferrari!!
In lessons you have to do dual carrageways so the top speed is 70! So not that different from a motorway is it and not quite your 30!
In reply to number 3, we actually are not the ones that need the follow up test (ask any instructor!) its actually you old people! I bet all you did when you passed your test was to actually point out a car so you know what one is!
Does that go to anyone over 21 too? Cos people over 21 don't have accidents either do they?...
This has nothing to do with accidents! Its down to congestion and yet MORE MONEY!

I think I'm justified in "acting all 'ard" when a bunch of clueless emo/Kerrang kids start spouting blatant bollocks about what the best all-time Metal/Rock bands were..... Evanescence? My Chemical Romance? HIM? (sorry Clare) Oh, come on...... I can remember in the days when Kerrang!! was a proper Metal mag, if they'd done a poll like this, the likes of Zep, Sab, Hendrix and Purple would've featured easily in the Top 10, as well as Maiden, Metallica, Anthrax, Slayer, Megadeth and others. Having My Chemical Romance at No 1 is a bit like 80s Kerrang!! readers putting a band like Bon Jovi or Europe in the top slot.... Those who claim to be into Metal these days just seem utterly clueless....
I was agreeing with you!! And I already said that about HIM too so why have you put it like that when I know they was rated way to high, god it's like you didn't read my post!

I didn't really get a chance to read the whole thing (there was a deleted post or two I believe).. I still dont have internet at home thanks to that useless shower of fukkwits that call themselves Virgin (LONG STORY.......), so I dont get a chance to come on BJ anything like as much as I should I suppose to check things out.....But I do believe, fundamentally, that in order to have a fully informed opinion of the Thatcher years, you would have to have lived through it and experienced it for yourself... I did, really was one of "Thatcher's Children" (almost my entire primary and secondary schooling from age six was during her reign - '79 - '90, I left finished Secondary school in the year she finally got chucked out of her PM-ship.... :cheer: ). Talk to just about anyone in Scotland or Wales about Thatcher of my age group or above, and the air will quite literally turn blue with obscenities.....
As one Political commentator said "Scotland must've been about the only country in the world which discovered oil and ended up the worst off for it..." Please, don't try to rehabilitate or 'revise' the Thatch years to a Scotsman (or indeed a Geordie, Scouser, Welshman, Mancunian, Irishman or Yorkshireman)....
Rob didn't put his post like this; he was on the highest level of being patronising AND to his own fiancée! I didn't even comment on Thatcher I was just reading the thread then he made his first post so I had to reply, then he started being patronising to me and changing my posts. Now, if he feels he needs to talk down to me, that I'm not old enough to understand then why has been in a relationship with me for over 2 years? So what I didn't live though it, there was no need for his attitude.

Hate to say it Clare, but I'd have to agree with that... There's been far too much revisionism done as far as Thatcher goes.. She was pretty evil, the things she did to this country, the whole "greed is good", "there's no such thing as society" sort of bullsh!t that she fostered has had pretty damn serious socio-political consequences; I would say that 18 years of Tory Rule was pretty much instrumental in the creation of "Chav Culture" that infests our society like a cancer. Compare to Scandinavian countries who had in the same time period a general policy of social responsibility, green politics and democratic socialism under which the likes of Sweden, Norway, Finland and Denmark have positively thrived, dont see many 'Scandi-Chavs', do you...?
Nu Labor has done anything to really stem the rot that the Tories began in the 80s, I think Tony Blair with his professed "admiration" for Thatch pretty much damns him and his successor, and his whole lame duck Govt as a whole....
Would Thatch win an election today..? She probably would, there are, depressingly, enough selfish morons out there who would still believe in her line of bullsh!t..... <_<
Scott, i don't have a problem with it, it's just the way he put it across. Like our opinions arn't good enough! Like he's better than us or something.
