  2. So, what did Sugbabes actually say regarding the afforementioned quote?.
  3. The UK's most charted girl group too. That's using top 75 as a rule.
  4. Was that the Suga's definition of a strong band?, 5 albums and 21 singles? :D.

That slogan felt cheesy at the time!, not just looking back . How does the stocking work?, is it based on the idea what the locals would like to buy? :).

I remember that, they used to have something like over half of the weekly singles market sales. When they decided to stock Feeder's "Buck Rogers" single, I knew it was gonna be a massive hit cos of that. Woolies even made cards saying "FEEDER- Are Well Worth It", a pun on their then advertising slogan- "Woolworths- Well Worth It". It's quite a collectors item amongst us Feeder fans, they were posted out with other goodies by Feederweb when they did a fanzine :).

Their chart sometimes went oops-up even before downloads took over anyway. I remember going in there to find Feeder's "Shatter/Tender" single on it's release date, and the chart display said #6, but when you looked in the #6 shelf, it was empty, same for another Woolies I tried too. I went to Virgin to buy those Feeder singles, way before it changed to a Zavvi.
  8. What's the record for consetutive top 20's? :).
  9. They're brillant songs!!, and maybe both their best ones! :D.
  10. So when should we see another guiness book, 2009? :). Is there a chance we won't see another one? :(.
  11. Just been thinking back a few hours ago, how certification figures differ between country to country for the same levels. In Japan a platinum album is 250,000 shipments, while in the UK it's 300,000. Japan is a bigger selling country of CD's than the UK, yet has lower qualification levels, while gold albums are the same of 100,000. Do you think they should be swapped round so the UK has the 250,000 and Japan 300,000, as if you think about it am I correct in saying that the USA market is 4 times bigger than that of the UK?, if so it would be perfect. (4*250,000=1,000,000- the USA platinum qualification level). In Japan however international artists do not sell anywhere near as well as domestic ones, could this be why the 250,000 for platinum is lower than the UK level requirement?. If you look at the USA end of year, you have to go up to something like #48 to find the first million seller, maybe #55 ish. In the UK it was quite similar for the first 250,000 seller.

Was Rain Tree Crow all members of Japan, like The Alarm/The Poppyfields?, as Arcadia was only three of Duran Duran's members :).
  14. and both charted at #2 behind $h!t songs!!.
  15. Although Bleeding Love spent seven weeks at number one, it was not the year’s longest-reigning hit – that honour fell to Umbrella, the soundtrack to a truly soggy summer, by Rhianna feat. Jay-Z. Pathetic lazy journalism, it wasn't the "soundtrack" to our summer cos of the weather.

Yeah, that was regarding Verka the Ukranian Eurovision guy. They were looking at this site and seen a thread saying that if it charts they better play it. Did they REALLY need to mention it on air? .

They had a couple of singles out before then, with one of them being "Matchstick Fotilla", but Mrs Thatcher's 4/5 for the video I posted didn't help!.

People who rather download the song rather than buy the album are underappreciating the value of music. It's so stupid this song just won't budge, I wouldn't be suprised the week the next single from the next album comes out it'll still be in the chart.

On Dotmusic, they used to go against the BPI's qualifying levels, and had this on their albums chart pages:- Silver- 100,000 Gold- 200,000 Platinum- 300,000 Sounds a lot better than the official one :), but the certification icons on the chart entries seemed to go by BPI qualifications.
  24. I've got it on DVD :), well my friend has and I borrowed it from him :). It's on Amazon and Metallica even bought the rights to it so they could use it on this video!!.

Remember this band from the late 80's?, they were tipped to be the next big thing way back in the day, with A&M pumping loads of cash into them, but never were sucsessful apart from this single. A feature in Q magazine described their sound as "Money going down a drain". This is their only top 75 from January 1987, which was "Beautiful Imbalance" reaching #50, chart run from Polyhex was 56-{50}-53->3 k6FRBTUP7ts
