  6. With the property she owns, along with the animals (5 dogs, 6 puppies, 5 horses) along with always seemingly being prevailed upon to help out family with this, that or the other. she just hasn't had time to get any for herself, even a 'bronze plan' from somewhere that'd still have a large deductible. She's just been paying the penalties when she has her taxes done. Even if she did get health insurance now, they wouldn't cover her for the hernia since it's a 'pre-existing condition'.
  7. Me girlfriend rang me up back on Friday while I was at work, as she thought I may have had the day off, to let me know after seeing her doctor about a recurring pain and stomach issues going on 2 years or a little more now, she's got a hernia, and round where the hernia is located, she's got a twist in her intestine, requiring surgery, which she's looking to have done as quickly as possible. As she's got no health insurance coverage, the procedure is going to run her around 20,000 USD to have done. As a result, she's going to be working as much as she can between now and mid-July, I think, to try to round up as much cash as she can to pay in cash, then use credit cards for the rest of the balance. She wants me to be there when she has the surgery, getting her to hospital, getting her home, and waiting to find out how she does with the surgery. Her doctor says she's going to be in hospital at least one night after the surgery, and, of course it's going to be worrisome for me. She's already freaking out about having this done, and I think she wants me there for all this as I seem to have a knack for calming her down when she's in freak-out mode....and, she just doesn't trust her family to get her to hospital, see her while she's admitted, and then take her home when she's discharged....
