Former manager and on air broadcaster Bobby 'The Brain (or Weasel)' Henan passed away about 10 days ago at age 73. and I think from some sort of cancer, similar to the type that took US movie critic Roger Ebert several years back. R.I.P. Bobby....
  2. Fixtures (All 15:00 GMT unless otherwise stated): Saturday 30th September: Huddersfield 1-3 Tottenham (12:30) Bournemouth 2-2 Leicester Manchester United 2-1 Crystal Palace Stoke 1-1 Southampton West Brom 2-2 Watford West Ham 1-3 Swansea Chelsea 2-2 Manchester City (17:30) Sunday 1st October: Arsenal 2-2 Brighton (12:00) Everton 3-2 Burnley (14:15) Newcastle 1-3 Liverpool (16:30) Looks like I've fallen back into my usual 10-12 points per weekend schtick once more....
  3. It's cyclical with the hurricanes, and how busy it may or may not be....back in 1992, the first storm of the season wasn't until the middle of August with Andrew, and there were, I think, maybe 5-6 more tropical storms after Andrew....then again, I may well be wrong in some of my facts, as I've not looked up what was going on for 1992, other than Andrew hitting, and the mess it caused round Miami... Just how busy a hurricane season may or may not be is also dependent upon how strong El Nino and La Nina are coming in from the Pacific, going through the Gulf of Mexico and Caribbean Sea and into the Atlantic... a strong El Nino current will stifle the hurricane-creating engines in the Atlantic and whatnot with all kinds of wind shear blowing the tops off any growing tropical storms, and conversely, a strong La Nina will add fuel to a tropical system, so to speak...
  4. This seems to be one of those years, like back in 2005, where we were wondering just how many hurricanes there were going to be....seem to recall back in that year, there were something like 28 or 29 tropical systems, and the ones past zed were being called Alpha, Beta and the like...this kind of weather is just batty....I seem to also recall hearing at one point, that on average, about every 10-12 years or so, it's extremely busy for tropical systems, whether they be tropical storms or hurricanes....and this is one of those busy years...of course, this post is just off the top of me head, and I could have some of me facts jumbled...
  5. Howdy all....things are slowly returning to normal round me, some areas taking longer than others, was without power round here for a week, having power restored Sunday night round 9:30 p.m. local time....made me appreciate having electric especially here in Florida....

  8. Lost power here at 6:45 in the morning local time 9/11, may very well be without power close to a week....somehow still have water, phone and cable television, and the small generator me dad got 13 years ago is running its little heart out keeping the fridge, plugs, microwave, lights and fans going in the house....of course, it's borderline stifling here at the house with no air conditioning....the roads are a bit of a mess with the downed trees and power lines...
  9. It's still raining and windy here, lost power about 2 hours ago, but am currently running on emergency generator here.....still have phone/internet service, which is a good thing, so I can check in hither and yon..... We're safe here, haven't had a chance yet to check exterior of the house for damage, but a neighbor across the street had his wooden fence completely knocked down during the worst of the winds overnight....local authorities are telling everyone to stay inside or in one's yard until they have a chance to check/clear roads from debris/downed power lines... EDIT: I know someone who was in the south tower of the World Trade Center when it was hit, and he was miraculously able to get out, as he was on the 47th floor...someone else I know had several brothers/cousins who were first responders to the World Trade Center....
  10. We're about as ready/safe as we can get....luckily we don't have to evacuate at this point, as we're in the second-to-last bunch to evacuate due to storm surge....me girlfriend's with her family in Georgia waiting out the hurricane...
  11. Thanks for the correction, Dobbo...
  12. I'm in west-central Florida, along the Gulf of Mexico, about 1/2 way down the peninsula..... I'm in the Tampa/Saint Petersburg area......
  13. Brighton managed the win today, and a clean sheet at that, IIRC....nice to see them pull off the win.... :) :)
  14. Why do I get the feeling you lust over 'naughty' than over 'nice' Robbie??  :P :P :P I'm gonna get hammered badly by Hurricane Irma....they're saying expect hurricane-force winds from sometime soon after sunset Sunday until about 5 in the morning local time Monday.....
  15. Saturday 9th September: Man City 2-2 Liverpool (12:30) Arsenal 3-2 Bournemouth Brighton 2-1 West Brom Everton 2-2 Tottenham Leicester 3-2 Chelsea Southampton 1-1 Watford Stoke 1-2 Man Utd (17:30) Sunday 10th September: Burnley 3-1 Crystal Palace (13:30) Swansea City 2-1 Newcastle United (16:00) Monday 11th September: West Ham United 1-2 Huddersfield Town (20:00) Let's see how I do with these after international play....
  16. That's the hope and intent, that she'll be able to travel with me at a later date....
  17. Had a phone call from my girlfriend this past weekend, she told me she can't make the trip with me this upcoming weekend as she's had a couple of painful health issues crop up, and the earliest she could get in to see her doctor was 8/25 at 10 in the morning local time. We're both disappointed she can't go, but, her health comes first.

  20. IIRC, Robbie's been in the top 10 Artiste forums for quite some time this past year.....I've seen an occasional appearance by Take That in the same ratings a lot less....I like Take That, don't get me wrong....
  21. I know we try, and try very hard we do, at that.....seems like the Robbie forum's been a whole helluva lot more active lately than TT....what with Robbie's concerts being talked about and his appearance at One Manchester a couple of months back... What aboot Family Coach.....
  22. Just what's needed....merging Robbie with TT....and the loverly arguments that'll ensue due to said merge..... <_<
  23. Speedy recovery post-rehab to Ant....seems there are so many celebs that have some sort of issue or another that they're able to hide from the public that they finally decide needs medical attention of some sort or another....and there's ordinary peeps like us with the same issues...
  24. If that Chelsea-Burnley match is anything to go by, this season's going to be one helluva rollercoaster ride....
