Sad indeed about Vader on his imminent demise, on top of the news on the passing of both George Steele a couple of days ago at age 79, and Ivan Koloff passing today, 2/18/2017 at age 74 from cancer.

Yes, he was a bit of a character, my late uncle....he worked for an oil company that sent him all over the world to work at various locations...I remember him saying he worked in New Zealand, Spain, Bahrain twice, as well as in NYC and round Dallas, Texas....after he retired from that, he got a real estate sales license, for something to do, as well as he kept playing golf until about 10 years ago, when his hips and shoulders told him it was time to stop...he always, in moderation, of course, enjoyed an occasional good cigar and a nice single malt Scotch....he got to know his 3 grandchildren well before his demise....my cousin shall miss her father terribly....my uncle's last words to her were, 'don't forget the party'...so, something is in the earliest planning stages for some sort of a celebration of his life come July this year, when he would have turned 87...with his passing, my dad's the oldest male at 78, to be 79 in June....oldest on this side of the Atlantic, that is, since I think I have a cousin in France who's in his early to mid 80's...

Sad news from the big family.....my older brother and sister-in-law called on 5 February to announce the passing of their dearly beloved retired racing greyhound that they had adopted more than a decade ago....the loveable pooch Lucy was 15....and, later in the evening, my younger brother called to let the house here know about Facebook post from a cousin of ours concerning the passing of her father/my uncle/my dad's brother-in-law the same morning of 5 February.....he was 86.....I shall recall warmly/fondly the times we spent together, along with a few cigars when I used to smoke, as well as several snifters of brandy.....I'll endeavor to raise a glass of The Dalmore single malt whisky in his honor....

Quite an interesting list....I've heard about 1/2 of the songs or a tad more, and am quite familiar with The Everly Brothers, Duane Eddy, Connie Francis and Elvis, not to forget Dean Martin, either... :) :)

Shortest distance for me to walk to work would be 32 miles, along a highway, that doesn't allow pedestrians....the long way round is about 72 miles, with the same issues for me...fortunately, I have a car to drive to get to and from work...

Too bad I don't have an Irish granny to make me one for the St. Patrick's day party I'll be attending at a friend's house come March....

This is one of my all-time favorite songs....almost sounds like he's playing with slightly loosened guitar strings for that 'twangy' effect he came up with for the song....makes me wonder if he was an influence of any kind for the late-lamented Lemmy Kilmister from Motorhead....

True, to each his or her own as to what they like in the muzak area....I do recall that The Fureys did some touring at one time with The Clancy Brothers & Tommy Makem in the 1960's/70's....a couple of top notch traditional Irish groups in my mind, along with The Wolfe Tones....I enjoy all 3, truth be told... Guess it's me Irish heritage that draws me to that kind of music.... EDIT: looks like someone doesn't take too kindly to Robbie in the Laundry thread over lounge way.... -_- -_-
