I was at work, so I didn't have the chance to watch the Germany/Algeria match, but, someone at work was able to check to see who'd won...

Am gutted that the US squad lost 2-1 in extra time....US goalie Tim Howard had one helluva match, recording 16 saves against the Belgians...perhaps now the US squad, with this effort, won't be frowned upon so badly...at least that's how I see it, where footy is a much bigger game than here in the US...

Then again, who'd have thought Netherlands would have absolutely DESTROYED Spain, and, now as things progress who also would have thought that Spain, England, Italy and Portugal would not make it out of the group stages.... So, even with US playing Belgium on 1 July at 2100 GMT, I'm going to be cautiously optimistic and say that the US squad will advance to the quarter finals with a 2-1 overtime win...how's that for some prognostication for everyone... :rolleyes:

Well, what a tough loss for the US squad at 1-0 to Germany, but, at times they were seriously outplayed in their by the German team. US team had a couple of chances late, but couldn't convert. At least the US squad moves on to the knockout stages, even with the Portugal win over Ghana, due to goal differential...

I'm a trifle upset at the happenings of the US-Portugal match tonight, a game that the US were this >.< close to winning........

I damn near had a stroke when Varela put in that header in the 95th minute for the draw......was desperately wanting the US squad to win this one against Portugal.....I know my younger brother, who's a much bigger footy fan than I am must be apoplectic about now..... Big trick now is for the US to draw against Germany Thursday in order to advance......

My August mini-holiday can't get here soon enough.....now it seems as someone where I work has it out for me, falsely accusing me of walking out of the pharmacy with patient information....if the idiot assuming I was would have directed their inquiry directly to me instead of assuming and running off to my supervisor, this crap could have been avoided...of course, my assuming accuser has absolutely no proof of the alleged misdeed.....now I'm having to watch my back there, and not trust anyone....

Just have to soldier on until 21 August, when I'll be flying to Pennsylvania from Florida to visit friends at their annual garden party....will be returning to Florida on 25 August, so, I'll have a full 3 days plus parts of 2 other days up north visiting.... By the by, I've already requested and been approved for those days off in August...

The shift I work is 3.30 to midnight local time for me, and, since I'm 5 hours behind you in Oirland/Scootland/England, translates to 8.30 p.m. to 5 in the morning your time.

Lucky lady.....I won't have any time off from where I'm working until August...
