Good Enough Single.
I don't like this song but I really hope somehow it becomes a hit. Their releases are so messed up, the dates, NO promotion... Has Wind Up given up on this band? This era could've been much stronger, Lithium or Weight Of The World for the lead single. Lithium isn't as radio friendly as Call Me When You're Sober, but since it's the first single people would hear it anyway. And it's such a good song, what a WASTE! Fallen had the obvious best singles, but the singles on TOD don't do the album justice. Good Enough is no My Immortal, it's not strong enough to put the focus on Evanescence again after 2 flop singles. I love the intro of the song. It's better than most Top 40 c**p, but I hate this is the last single from this great album. :( You know what's totally ridiculous? Wind-Up contacted the evanescence.it forum and demanded they take off all the info and pics from the video. They sure as hell aren't totally dead, why are they focusing their attention on petty stuff like that instead of actually promoting them?

[The Disgrace Of Lithium]
That definitely hurt. The video was out, people were probably requesting the song, but the song wasn't even added sent to the radio by Wind Up. It's such a waste. It's incredibly YET commercial. It doesn't have a chance now, Lithium is old and the hype is gone. In fact, less than 0.03 million people heard the song in the US this week. AWFUL.

I'm a fan of "Nevermind" as well. ;) Sales don't matter to me but I want one of my favorite bands to be successful cause they deserve it. I'm just saying, I don't see how TOD is much (if it all) heavier than Fallen. It's not that different. It's more advanced but not THAT different. If you're implying I'm a false fan then you're wrong. I'm a fan just like you if not bigger. I think that if you forget about Ben Moody and the rapping parts on Bring Me To Life and just listen to Fallen, your opinion of it won't be as bad. Most songs are very well written.

I agree, but the same Evanescence feeling is just there even when the songs are slightly different. You can tell it's the same people who did Fallen. It's not the huge change they made from Origin to Fallen. And no guys, they're doing well but yes, underperforming. Sales are lower nowadays but they're still not topping the charts like they used to. They actually stayed in the top 50 (or was it top 10?) with Fallen for over a year, I think. Hopefully "Sweet Sacrifice" will help.

4th Single Confirmed
It's one of the few songs on this album that actually remind me of one of those people AMy was supposedly inspired by - Bjork. It's a mixture of Bjork and Fallen Evanescence. With less vocal effects which I hate, it would have been great. More of that sound but with raw vocals for the next LP would be nice.

The Open Door is a grower. What songs do you like? Grimly, I don't like Ben although he is a great writer. Amy and Ben are a great combination when it comes to writing. The Open Door isn't very diferent fron Fallen except lyrically maybe... yet yu're making it seem like I'm comparing a Pink Floyd album to a Paris Hilton album. You'd probably like Going Under, Tourniquet, Hello (which is BRILLIANT lyrically, better than Like You), Taking Over me, etc. if they were on TOD. Most songs on this album are VERY Evanescence.

4th Single Confirmed
My CMWYS? That song sucks. Lithium is by far the best track. Vocally, lyrically, musically, how you get drawn into it after 3 seconds, I love it. It's much deeper than SWQ and people loved Lithium (even though it failed), so SWQ's problem is not the lyrics. It is better than CMWYS and Sweet Sacrifice lyrically, though. I'm also surprised you like it so much because you hate Fallen and it sounds like a Fallen track. I agree SWQ could have been a great song. I don't like when vocal effects are overused. The verses just drag. Actually it was my favorite song off the album when I first heard it. I haven't had the CD for 2-3 weeks and when I made that post I was totally bored by it. Now when I listen to it, I like it again. Just not single material.

World Tour 2007
Where the hell is their best song ever by far, Everybody's Fool? I can't believe Whisper and Haunted which were not even released are performed. They should also perform BMTL. No one cares if it was a "Ben song" Amy, it made you big and you should stick to it. I'm not a huge fan of the song but you can't just ditch the song that made most of the fans, fans. That's like Britney Spears without "Baby One More Time." They should have done some songs from Origin too... like 2. That album did exist and it had some of their best songs. Still a great show, I'm sure. :D Just very disappointed about Everybody's Fool.

It is not a mindblowing success like Fallen either. It's not flopping but it's underperforming.

All That I'm Living For - Scrapped as Single
YES! YES! YES! It's honestly the best song they could've chosen.

4th Single Confirmed
ATILF is a better single choice than SWQ. Neither one is particulary good but ATILF is at least catchy. Snow White Queen just drags on and on and her voice is too edited and annoying. BUT "Good Enough" is the worst choice! I'm shocked it will be a single.

4th Single Confirmed
Dear God. YS, TOO, LY, Lacrymosa, CN, SS would all be better singles. The worst songs on the album are the singles save for Lithium. They used to know what the singles should be much better with Fallen.

You're taking what I said way too seriously. She definitely gained weight in my opinion. Didn't bash her for it. It's not just these pictures, it's the whole era.

Well, she gained weight. Please perform and promote your music instea.

Evanescence hits 1m in Europe
It's OK.

[The Disgrace Of Lithium]
I didn't mean European sounding Rock music, I said Eurovision... meaning poppier, cheesier. Like trying so hard to be "Rock" that it's just not it. Kinda hard to explain, just hear the rock song that won in the Eurovision. But maybe they've progressed, it's the feel of their songs (those that I've heard) that leaves me uninterested in the rest of their material. I think I'll give Lacuna Coil a chance. Nightwish is so cheesy, as is Epica (Epica is also horrid lyrically) and most other similar bands. What LC song should I listen to first? As for the first part of your post, Amy wasn't good live during the "Fallen" era but times have changed. She's much better now, she actually does the opera parts in WOTW. I can't find a link on youtube they must have removed it, just listen to the "Almost Christmas" performances of Imaginary and Weight Of The World. I was talking about studio recordings anyhow, Amy's voice is haunting and sets an atmosphere. She doesn't have to try hard, she just has it in her whenever she starts singing. Ev's songs flow so much better than other songs from similar bands that I've heard because of that too. As for the technically better singing, I don't care for that at all. It means nothing. Could Christina Aguilera sing "Like You" emotionally the way Amy does?

[The Disgrace Of Lithium]
Within Temptation's new song leaked. "What Have You Done" and believe it or not, there's a lame guy part. Evanescence may have borrowed from them, but this is a complete and total rip-off. A mash up between Bring Me To Life (the "wake me up!" c**p), Farther Away and CMWYS. They might as well ask Amy to sing it for them. I know a lot of fans are disappointed. I know Evanescence's isn't the first with this sound, but still... the other bands all sound like they lack something. Maybe it's because I prefer Ev's lyrics for the most part and Amy's voice is more convincing and really sets an atmosphere... like you get drawn into Lithium right after the first word she sings. Other rock bands like Evanescence are just less convincing, whether it's the cheesy lyrics or the unconvincing lead, or the Eurovision "rock" sounding music (Nightwish's "Elvenpath). By the way. Didn't Evanescence start recording "Away from me" back in 1996? That's the Evanescence sound. I don't think Amy was particulary/consciously influenced by all the bands. And if she was, she did a great job one-upping it. The song you posted doesn't sound like anything particular Ev's done. It's just a kind of genre. In fact, "Mother earth" didn't sound much like Ev, whereas "The Silent Force" partially has the Ev sound, and the new one is a major rip-off. Just hear it for yourself... http://youtube.com/watch?v=ve_d_MJiTzc They were much more influenced by Ev than EV was by them.

[The Disgrace Of Lithium]
I never really gave Lacuna Coil a chance. For some reason I just find bands similar to Evanescence cheesy... I'm talking about Epica and maybe even Nightwish. Mother Earth may have influenced Amy but not as much Evanescence influenced the sophmore ("Stand My Ground"). Their new song really sounds like Ben Moody had something to do with, it's all BMTL/Linkin Park again.
-
[The Disgrace Of Lithium]
Well, they did outsell Christina Aguilera's last album with Fallen. Fallen was more commercial especially with that Linkin Park-like first single, but Ev was exposed to the world with that and should continue to do very well even for Fallen standards. Lithium is considerably commercial and it's really good, could've done so much better. I'm surprised you don't find Evanescence to be superior to Within Temptation... their new single is a complete Evanescence rip-off, not to mention The Silent Force. But that's for another dicussion, I guess? :P It's actually the other way around... I hate how poppy ATILF's hook is. Good lyrics, decent verses, bad chorus. It's just sad that with an album so diverse, Evanescence insists on releasing the material that ISN'T a progress from Fallen (minus Lithium - which most of the world didn't get to hear thanks to awful promotion). I think this album deserves more than CMWYS and ATILF as singles... it's a bad presentation of what they've become, when really they have some great different songs on the album. It deserves to do well and could do well but they're making really bad single choices.
-
[The Disgrace Of Lithium]
Her impressions are not huge at all, that's the sad part for Evanescence. Christina is more established, she's had some big radio single. Ev only had BMTL, MI and CMWYS. Lithium was supposed to be the MI of this album (it's a much, much better song) but Wind Up and Evanescence ruined it. ATILF is the kiss of death. They got the right single choice with Lithium, but come on. Releasing a song to the radio long after the video is released is a bad decision. They also didn't promote it. They need to have 2-3 big radio singles in a row and then their singles won't go unnoticed. Lithium had the potential. It's somewhat commercial AND very good. Besides this 'success' talk, I just think this era could've been much better. I was only happy with one of the singles (Lithium). Great songs like The Only One, Cloud Nine, Your Star, etc are being ignored. They're releasing the songs that sound like Fallen tracks instead of showing their new direction.

[The Disgrace Of Lithium]
Lithium? The single was released in the US and in the U.K, 2 of the biggest markets in the world. It's not making any impact which is a shame because it's a great song and probably the most commercial one on the album, after CMWYS. They don't promote at all, and Wind Up really killed the song before its run with their awful scheduling. Why release a video so much before allowing radio stations to play the song, killing the hype, and on top of that schedule no promotional performances. How am I "wrong" in stating the song is terrible? That's what I think. CMWYS is weak, that's why I'm disappointed not many people know Lithium. Those that follow Evanescence somewhat will think the album is like CMWYS and ATILF. You're right, ATILF is not necessarily completely terrible, I like the lyrics too. The problem is that the chorus is so awful, reminds me of a Kelly Clarkson/Avril Lavigne song. Lacks the 'Evanescence' sound and doesn't really show growth. The hook is worse than 80% of Fallen. Snow White Queen or The Only One would've been much better singles. TOD was doing fine but it won't have legs with flop singles. In the U.S only 0.1 million people heard it this week. Christina Aguilera basically flopped with an audience of 50 million people, so you can only imagine how bad Lithium really did. It's just sad CMWYS did better than Lithium and that song looks like it will be the only thing people will remember from this era. Wind Up and Evanescence are both responsible for this mess.

That's what happens when you don't promote well. The video was also released too early. Everyone who knows that song likes it.

3rd Single from The Open Door
I'm afraid Evanescence is done until the next album. Wind Up really messed up. Lithium could have been another "My Immortal". But no, they decided to release the video for Lithium 2 months before the radio release. Horrible move. It preety much lost the momentum. "All That I'm Living For" is the dead end for TOD. I wish they'd stop releasing the safer songs and just release songs like Snow White Queen, Cloud Nine, etc. This is a worse single choice than CMWYS. R.I.P "The Open Door"
