great a step in the right direction. if your laptop is full to the gunnels, that could be a reason why it wont do anything, maybe by you getting rid of some stuff it will free up some memory so its able to do the things you want it to do, just going to try something on mine, brb if you click on your start button, you can mouse over anything and right click, box opens and it says properties at the bottom, click that and it should tell you how much memory youve used and whats left, ie i have 279 mb music, 809 mb photos, 149mb docs and if you go to computer on start menu it will tell you there how much is left on your disc, if i had same prob i would be looking to sort the photos on my laptop first as thats the largest folder, having said that, music files can take up a huge amout of room per track especially WAV's got my fingers crossed for you Ros, but do ask on DS you will prob have several replies quite quickly and could save you hours of work :D

Ros sorry to hear about your laptop, :( sometimes when ive had a problem with pc or laptop ive gone and posted on digital spy in the pc threads, they are great on there and fall over backwards to help, give it a go, at least someone might come up with a solution at the very least so you can back your stuff up. :friends: Just been speaking to my other half, he suggested backing up on flash memory or portable hard drive dont really know what problems youre having but maybe thats an option, also he said there is a way to transfer your favourites by using email, youd have to ask on digital spy as i dont know how to do it, you export your favourites and then import them on another system. if you can still email, although it will be a long process you could send your stuff to maybe a web based email account and then drag it all back in. hope that helps a little, id be devastated if i was in your situation :(
