Christ, race relations just get worse don't they? How do we come back from this election completely hinging on whites vs. everyone else? The divide is so stark.

It's a strange feeling to simultaneously feel both ashamed to be white and immensely lucky to be white. So much worry for racial minorities in America and honestly, everywhere right now.

I struggle to think of a stronger person, let alone woman, than Hillary Clinton. And I doubt her genuinity no more than anyone else's.

One of the more interesting aspects of the last stretch of this election has been looking at the map and thinking about which parts of the map might turn blue, or at the very least show signs of doing so. I think we're heading into a future where Republicans begin to really struggle to hold areas that were once guaranteed for them and their adaptation is going to be slower than it needs to be. I'm really looking forward to seeing what sort of state the map is in come 2024, and even just 2020 honestly.

Thank you. The amount of Trump supporters who will say they're not X but they support Trump because they agree with his economic policies... If you desire a bigot being elected, even if their bigotry is not the reason you want that, what exactly are you saying? "I'm OK with every minority under the sun suffering because he says his economic policies will help poor white people"? If that's your line of thought then you're not much better than Trump if you ask me. There's no excuses with supporting him. Either you want minorities to suffer or you're willing to let them suffer for a chance at personal gain. Both are gross.

It's not simple enough for "Little Mix are busy, so it'll flop" to be a fair assessment of the situation, really. They have a lot more than The Saturdays had going for them (the time they've spent promoting in the past really stands to them, and IMO the song is stronger too) and even when they're largely busy, they usually find the time to make at least one big promotional appearance in the USA. I'd be quite surprised if the girls didn't pop over at least briefly, but I don't know if that's totally essential either. If the song clicks right then radio will carry it I think.

I imagine there will be a push for it; there's been a push for every Little Mix lead single of some sort. They're not established in the US beyond a core fanbase though so I'd have expected a high-ish début, then the song should disappear for a while and slowly claw its way back up.

Yeah actually looking at his discog it's nowhere near as bad in the US as I thought it was - totally forgot about 'Summer' being quite big most notably. Basically I'm just totally wrong about how he does in the US so I'm going to stop now.

I don't get why the US gives quite so few fucks for Calvin when he's not collaborating with a massive star. He has quite a few hits under his belt at this stage but he feels no less reliant on big name features for hits now than he was when 'We Found Love' happened. He's lucky he has such good connections.

I do think there was an element of racism in Hillary's favour in 2008, honestly. Not to the point of being a huge factor but I think it's naive to think the Democratic primaries, particularly in the (semi-recent) past, wouldn't be affected by racial issues. The party was not as progressive in 2008 as it is now and I think a lot of that comes down to Obama's nomination forcing a group of people to realise that the Democrats didn't cater to them anymore. I think it's a stretch to call Hillary a God-awful politician or call anti-black sentiment a defining factor in 2008 but I would probably list racial issues as one of her more modest advantages iin that primary, yes.

Largely anything that discourages a way of showing respect that achieves nothing but telling people you care is good in my books, so I'm not going to complain about this. If you really care then you'll pay respects with your thoughts and actions; the poppy and any other symbols of its ilk exist only to allow people the chance to both feel good about themselves and judge others for reasons they wouldn't usually be lucky enough to come across. There's nothing to be upset about here. The players lose nothing but the chance to be sanctimonious. The ban is bizarre, frankly, as I doubt FIFA particularly care about the pressure put on players to conform with stuff like this, but outside of being difficult to understand (and arguably not really their place to step in) I don't think there's really anything wrong with it. EDIT: Honestly I really don't get the poppy, or anything like it. It seems to me to be intensely disrespectful if anything, to the point where I would probably have more of a problem with someone wearing it than someone who doesn't.

He has such a predictable aesthetic/performance style that it kind of ruins him for me. I like his music a lot, and like him a lot because he expresses himself in an industry where it's not easy for men to do so, but then I see his self-expression and I just think "keep it" because it's so redundant. You guys say he's the male Sia and I wonder why that's necessary when female Sia is doing her job perfectly fine. I really hope he gets a chance to mature as an artist because I want to like him a lot more than I do but he's just so lacking in depth at this point.

For a second there I was excited about Dua making an appearance, but I'm sad to see there's no actual momentum or popularity for the song. Great for her to get a Hot 100 placement no matter what, but I was thinking "maybe she can actually have a career" at first there. Nice to see Little Mix getting their latest maybe-kind-of-possible breakthrough. Fourth time's the charm.

It is fair to say that the 2008 primary was close, but I always thought the fact that Hillary lost that primary at all was kind of iffy because she had such a massive advantage at the time from her name alone, and while Barack's claim at making history was much more exciting, the fact that she had one at all was a big deal. I still remember how much of a done deal Hillary being the nominee was considered at one point, and as I remember she never had her name dragged through the mud like she has this time around. Hill losing that one was more down to Obama inspiring people than anything else, but I think it says something about her not being stellar at garnering votes. The 2016 primary was a comfortable win in the end but I think it was factually unusually close for a Democratic primary and I don't feel like Bernie would have gotten anywhere near 23 state wins in a more competitive year. I kind of just disagree on how Hillary would do against a different Republican candidate. The realistic alternatives are basically Trump but capable of going 5 minutes without making themselves look bad. Sure, they wouldn't develop quite the same stanbase, but everyone who supports Trump with such enthusiasm would still vote for them. I never really understood the Bernie vs. Republicans polls and I don't think they would have proved accurate. You're free to ask me why on this given that it's super vague justification in my head but Hillary just seems like a more natural alternative to people who'd like to vote Republican but hate Trump, to me. Bernie's too defined by his liberalism and every criticism of her policies would be thrown at him too, possibly moreso.
