  1. Pure Shores. Have been voting for it like 15 rounds so far, hopefully it will fall sometime soon.
  2. I certainly don't like it and have been voting for it for like 10 rounds until now. I decided to change for a round to some other poor song and went with Mel C. Ideally the five songs that won't make it to top ten would be the ones by Mel C, All Saints, both songs by Sugababes (neither song is nowhere near their best ones), and .... probably Katy Perry. Thou I doubt one of the best songs by Britney will last more than a few rounds if it won't fall this time.
  3. SLY will have something like 3-4 more weeks before it will crash. Then adult contemporary stations will switch into holiday music and all songs currently getting airplay there will collapse. And the only track inside airplay top 20 (besides OneRepublic) that is getting big impression numbers from AC is SLY. It might actually be number one there when they switch into holiday music and SLY could take something like 1-15 dive within a week if they switch at the beginning of the week and loose over 15m audience impressions. But it'll be a few more weeks before that happens and until then SLY will probably keep climbing.
  4. LOL, SLY won't get anywhere near 200m, urban and urban ac stations haven't touched it and I really don't see those stations ever starting to play it. And the impressions that it is getting from urban are so low and the increases so small that if it ever even becomes a moderate top 20 hit there it will be falling on other formats by then. So maybe 10m more and that's it since it has no urban support (nor alternative where RITD made into top 20). But still very good for her. The record for a British artist, I'd say it is RITD. The panel expanded big time late 1990s (actually it was only back then when they started to include urban stations into total impressions) and since then there really haven't been that many hits by British artists that have been that big. Bleeding Love topped at around 140m impressions so that probably was the record holder before RITD (if I am not forgetting some huge hit) but after BL especially pop top 40 format has expanded big time and tens of new stations have been added so nowadays it is way easier to get audience impressions there well over what BL got back in 2008.
  5. The record is by Mariah Carey's We Belong Together, it scored 223 million audience impressions in July 2005. And if I recall correctly Beyonce's Irreplaceable ranks second. But the only way to get that kinda numbers is to have an urban ballad to cross over to rhythmic and pop the same time and there haven't been any for a while. Rihanna's What's My Name got to something like 170+m and that is very good this day of age. Interesting to see when there will be another 200+m hit.
  6. Really good selection overall. The weakest of all IMO are All Saints - Pure Shores, Gorillaz - Feel Good Inc, Lily Allen - Smile, Melanie C / 'Left Eye' Lopes - Never Be The Same Again and Sugababes - Round Round. I went with Lily Allen this round.

Liked it quite a bit. It reminded me of Stand By Me and Goonies. Well-made and very entertaining. And the kids weren't irritating like they often are in films.

  21. Great for Empire of the Sun, truly a great song. And fairly good list, it is not like I expected Little Lion Man, Uprising nor Sexy Bitch to qualify anyways. If the Girls Aloud song would be substituted by any of the three mentioned the whole top ten would have been quite good indeed.
  22. Pumped Up Kicks could easily make top 10 on BB hot 100. It peaked no 1 on alternative but it is still top three and holding well. And it has been climbing on pop top 40 and adult top 40 fairly quickly with a big bullet that keeps increasing. I doubt Katy Perry will get to no 1 if there will be no remix in the next two weeks because by then Lighters should have sped past it saleswise big time.

  25. Actually any old song can still appear on Billboard IF it is currently promoted by its label. Thou nowadays it is harder to tell what that exactly means since there are no physical single releases. Like when the film Ghost was released and the label released Unchained Melody as a single again (and also a re-recording so that there were two versions of the song inside top 40 the same time). I guess nowadays it means that radio stations start to play an older song as a current for some reason (instead of recurrent). Little Lion Man reappeared since it was still current (at least on adult top 40) and just now Don't You Wanna Stay reappeared because it is current still in several formats and after its initial 20+ chart weeks it has now gained enough points to enter inside top 50. But since there are no physical single releases it is harder to figure out which song is promoted again by the label since such things as Grammy win do not count as active promotion. People have complained about this rule for Billboard and their answer has been simple: the charts are not made for fans and chart followers etc but for music industry. And, of course, for industry faster turn-over is preferred so that more songs will get the exposure from being featured in the charts. They had the same thing for Billboard 200 until Michael Jackson's death but when the no 1 album was missing from Billboard it was too embarrassing for BB and they changed the rules for albums.
