  1. Also, various points 1) I can only cope with one obsession at a time 2) BuzzJack's a bit scary and unwieldy for me atm, really struggling to find my way about. 3) I haven't found the stuff I'd like to talk about yet, maybe it isn't on BuzzJack - eg, what do people think of Adam Cohen's new CD? Has anyone bought the £70 offer 17-CD Leonard Cohen collection yet and is it worth it? Analysing Captain Beefheart's lyrics (just for fun); Is there somewhere I can loathe Paul McCartney? you get the picture :P
  2. ...and, oh dear, I've never heard of Darius - guess I'll be proper booted out now.
  3. I did post in the Weather forum yesterday  does that make me less Dariusite? I thought you might've been referring to us being, erm, rather enthusiastic (more blushes) - not my fault that I love the album lol lol.
  4. not in the know on this one - do tell? Feeling rather self-conscious now :o
  5. It's just something a hater made up on one of the DS 'let's bash Matt' threads - they either don't know what they're talking about and think it's a bad number, or they do and they're deliberately setting a high bar in public so's they can come back later to laugh at it not reaching it (hope that makes sense??)
  6. Purple - you're probably watching the footie now - but has your HMV deluxe got the acoustic tracks with it? Just that mine came with the wrong 2nd CD, the 5 xtra XF tracks. It's ok because I wanted HMBOT and YBR anyway, but it seems to have happened to a lot of people this morning and I'm praying to god that this is just HMV's error and doesn't get replicated by play.com etc otherwise my deliberate-sabotage-by-Syco paranoia'll rear it's ugly head again. Anyways - the album is just - STUNNING :w00t: :yahoo: :cheer: It's quite a while since I've loved a whole album this much. RFYL sits in there quite harmlessly, but like others have said I'd have been more than happy to see it dropped in favour of Chemical. And Sparks instead of WWC. Not a single other track I would have wanted to lose. I'm quite overwhelmed by it atm. What an incredible debut album.
  7. oh it was certainly a great showcase for his 'rocking out' skills - it absolutely blew me away watching it live. lol at idea of him doing 'Chasing Cars' mmm, possibility of them doing a new song together - release as a single; could be cool! Re: tiny or tall, just that Rihanna sort of towered over him with her high heels (not that it really mattered) but would like his future duetting partners to be slightly shorter than him (sorry if that's a bit shallow of me) And yes, Walking on Water, so you've seen it then?
  8. It could be a bit of magic moment but not sure how they'd harmonise it - the beauty of that song is the starkness of the notes. Also it's not a song that's a dialogue so duetting it might be a bit odd. Also, I really want Matt to get the recognition he deserves for his own material first, and then do stuff like that. There's no doubt his cover of Uninvited is incredible but that was my one 'criticism' of him doing it in his gigs, that it was a cover at a time when he was launching his own material. btw, do you know if Alanis is tiny or tall? Have you seen this yet Regina - if not, get your hanky at the ready oh, it won't let me post the link as I've not made enough posts :( go to Channel4 t4 music matt cardle exclusive
  9. oo, must go and look for that, I quite fancy a moan about the weather whilst waiting for my 2cd Letters to arrive! I think Rebecca's album will sell really well, and she doesn't have the XF winner millstone to carry round her neck either so it's unlikely she'll suffer the jibes and wilfull mis-interpretation of every comment that Matt is currently getting. I see the promo for her album is starting already.
  10. Regarding album sales, I think PurpleNurple's point about the current economic climate and album sales is very relevant, people feel stretched to shell out nearly a tenner when they can get just the tracks they want @ 99p each. Though actually 60,000 (album sales) x £8.99 is the equivalent of 539,400 singles sales at £1! I hope they release Starlight soon, waiting till 5th Dec would be risky with all the press still on RFYL as the lead single.
  11. good morning WKD :)
  12. Just looked Lisa up on Wiki - she looks very interesting, I'll be giving her a listen later on "Herbie Hancock said of her vocals, "there's so much jazz in the notes and phrases that she picks. She was singing the ninths, the elevenths of the chords...I mean some of the things sound like choices that Miles would have made." (quote from Wiki). Never in a million years did I expect Matt to outsell Noel. Haven't listened to anything from Noel's album yet but I always liked his vocals and barbed edge so might be another purchase for me. I see the knives are out for Matt in the press this morning - has a premeditated, even orchestrated, feel to it; methinks they're giving him the "XF curse label" rather too soon
  13. Well, to be really honest, I do actually care if he's successful, as I want to him to be able to get more material out there after Letters, I think he's a brilliant song writer and I love his voice. You make a lot of good points PurpleNurples. I'm not sure if RFYL is seriously hindering him in the bigger picture - obviously if one were only to look at the DS one would think that but that's only a small bunch of people - the one's doing all the 'hate' are actually the same posters who gleefully predicted his demise during the live shows, some of the things they came up with then were beyond belief. We have done a lot of speculating about RFYL and decided it was intended as a 'transitional' song from XF to his own material and mostly we were pretty gutted when we first heard it. Interestingly, he did an interview on R1 this morning and said exactly that (transitional song). I've come to like it actually, but totally agree that his own songs are way way better and obviously I'm hoping the strategy won't backfire in the long run. So, whilst having many doubts about RFYL I find the album tracks so immediately captivating I'm sort of assuming others will too, though I know there's no accounting for taste!!! Re: the DS - I guess the craziness over there relates to it being focussed on what is effectively a reality TV show, even if it does pose as a talent show. That said, I'm grateful to XF for having given Matt a chance, but as he says himself, it's a double edged sword. We've (the DSMCAT) been exploring options for moving house, so to speak, not because of all the hate but because of wanting to de-link from the XF and seeing Matt as a musician first and foremost. I'm finding BuzzJack a bit confusing to navigate around - I've seen there are Artist Forums but haven't found one for Matt yet, is there one? The thing is, we talk a LOT - the DSMCAT is the biggest forum on DS (lol) we're half way through part 37 already and we've only been there since Monday  :o and I'm not sure if it's possible to bring over links like YTs, gifs, jpegs etc?? Have to say though, this does seem a much nicer place, the rules and regs appear stronger, and it's all about the music!
  14. ^^^^THIS
  15. The album's doing very well in the pre-orders Amazon/HMV/Play.com/iTunes, looks like it could enter at #2 after Robbie next week. I'm thinking that once people hear more of it, it could hang about in the upper-charts for a while though there's so much competition in his genre atm, e.g. with Coldplay releasing the following week
