  1. Good Concert song yes - but many of his other tracks are much better
  2. Hey your not alone at all - yes those songs ie Millenium etc are ok but they are clearly not his best work and he has admitted that he dosent like performing them at shows but the record company will aim to please the masses in order to make as much money as possible. So your not in alone in your thinking - I agree with you and Rob would too!
  3. Regardless of what chart positions songs reached although Angels, Feel & Come Undone, and Advertising Space and Tripping were all deserving of the top spot you can still seperate the far superior work - look fwd to hearing more great tracks on this new album
  4. Its easy to separate his better material though from his less superior stuff. For example: Millenium - She's The One - Strong - Clean - Rock DJ - Jesus in A Camper Van - Ego A Go Go versus Far Superior Tracks such as - Feel - Tripping - Radio - The Actor - Please Dont Die - Advertising Space - Angels
  5. You never know The Actor could be a single release. Now that is something worth voicing an opinion over - EMI's single choices. Many great songs have been left as album tracks on his previous albums for example Please Dont Die off Intensive Care, Meet the Stars, etc etc I could go on..... and yet other songs (which are ok) such as Strong, She's the One and Millenium have been put out (3 tracks that the man himself has said that he dosent favour)
  6. Im perfectly chilled but I see people complaining about things that there is no need to complain about??? Its silly All 4 songs are great - all different - all good!
  7. It dosent matter that there is a voice-over - gees!!! Peeps can be so annoying sometimes... I dont like the female voice....Rob's not in the Rudebox vid enough....Lovelight is too dark and we cant see him... Look: The Actor is fine - its a great track - Rob is in the Vid for Rudebox enough (for any normal person) and the vid for Lovelight is slick. Stop complaining!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  8. Girls voice-over only add to its sophistication! Stop nitpicking!
  9. All of the new songs are very good - Rudebox, Lovelight, The Actor & Kiss Me Nothing "not to like" about any of them!!!!!!! Open minds people, open minds!
  10. Thing is though, although Lovelight and Kiss Me are v.good covers - if you listen to The Actor its even a better song again!
  11. Whats to make your mind up about? The Actor is not "odd" or "nutty" as some people above have chosen to describe the song??? This song is excellent - anyone who cant see that ....well I just dont know what to say without being offensive to anyone... Holy Mary Mother of God - not everything will sound like Angels. I dare anyone to say that Millenium or Strong are better than The Actor....and someone probably will..... Oh and Rudebox is a far superior track to Rock DJ Dont get me wrong I love Rob's back catalogue and there are some real treats in there but this new album is fresh Change = Longevity
  12. The Actor is one of the strongest tracks hes ever recorded - very sophisticated :yahoo:
  13. Certain TV programmes are protected by copyright. A Production Company will own the copyright to footage e.g "Live from Leeds" from earlier in the month, so unfortunately its illegal to put up such links! Footage or recordings personally shot or made at a gig are not illegal for the simple reason that concert promoters allow people on site with/into a venue with recording equipment - cams, mobs etc. The "PM" though is the mighty sword against regulation!!!!!! so can I get an "AMEN" :rap:
  14. Rudebox is shaping up to be Rob's best album - Excellent!
  15. Yes whether a song is released prior to or after an album this does not have any impact on its sales as you would think. A number 4 hit is a number 4 hit regardless. Angels, Feel & Come Undone were better received by the media and fans in general but number 4 is as far as they went (nothing wrong with a number 4 hit !) so there is little point in arguing the toss over Rudebox. They are all great tracks regardless of chart positions. They were all deserving of a number 1 spot but artists have to contend with a range of factors which will affect the placing of their song on any given week. And on that note I declare this debate closed!!
  16. Again its unfortunate but basically it sells them papers - they see it as a business
  17. The media acted in the same manner with the late Princess Di - although the circumstances were quite different. I think he tends to ignore what the press say anyway. Its unfortunate that such practice is condoned but there is little that can be done to prevent the publication of bad press. It's just part of English culture Rudebox was a hit and thats the important thing and the album will be top of the charts
  18. ...and maintain a comfortable salary!
  19. You could argue that the press are vindictive and maybe some of them are but for others there there is no real agenda I dont think - its just a case of sell as many copies of your tabloid so as to out do your rival papers!
  20. Well if I had to place a bet I would say yes his album will enter the Album Chart at Number 1 - his audience is extensive enough to put the album to the Top. In fact I think that this may be his biggest album to date - its sales could exceed that of Intensive Care. Re the singles in total Rob has had seven number 4 hits. For the media to announce that Rudebox has been a flop single defies logic - if that's the case what is the point in having a singles chart at all if a song which makes number 4 in the charts be deemed to have gone nowhere and what does that say for every other act out there who are positioned from number 5 - to 75? Idiots! - the media I mean, not the acts from 5-75! :P
  21. Thats at least a 5 week run on the Top 40 if Im correct - not bad - could get another 2-3weeks - some songs drop like stones so that's a good run for Rudebox
  22. It has to be remembered though that many of Rob's best known hits such as Angels, Feel and tripping didnt get to number 1 in the Uk. He's had a few number 4 hits and some top 10. Rudebox proved to be a divisive song but you cant please all of the people all of the time. The album looks a dead cert for the number one position! Whats number 4 one week depending on sales could have been number 1 the previous week. Many other factors come into play when a record is released and will determine where it charts for example: Your competition Radio Airplay Promotion - fundmentally important Timing is everything - EMI take note!!!! People being aware that a song has actually been released A given songs popularity - some tracks just prove more popular than others. The age of an artists audience - younger people tend to buy more singles - older people buy the albums - thats a trend that continues to this day Downloads - downloads are now tallied towards overall sales - with this mechanism becoming more predominant it may slow sales down - there is no rush to download as compared with the old fashion method of having to buy a record it was physically sold out. New chart rules will also affect how songs enter and move up and down the Top 40. To go back to the point on popularity - if a record goes Top 10 - it probably means that an artist/bands core fanbase has purchased the song/album - if a song/album hits the number 1 spot then that song/album has sold outside of the core support which boosts sales to put it in pole position at the top!!!!!! All of these factors will determine how well records will sell!
  23. Myspace site is a little complicated
