Miscellaneous singles chart records that will NEVER be broken?
Duh, yeah that's my bad, sorry! I guess my point still stands though in that it seems easier these days for songs to spend multiple weeks at #2 (probably due to how stagnant the charts are).

Miscellaneous singles chart records that will NEVER be broken?
Great thread Dobbo! I agree with most of what you said. This record is going to take a very long time to break IMO since there's far less guarantees of a #1 single these days compared to 20 years ago when acts like Westlife were pretty much guaranteed a week at #1 with a new single. 'Azizam' has no chance even if 'Ordinary' goes to ACR as other songs will be ahead of it. If physicals couldn't propel it to #1 then nothing will! I think this can be broken. YUNGBLUD recently released a similar length song, of course that didn't even chart but there's no reason a song like that couldn't go to #1 if it was a big comeback single for someone for example. I can see the shortest one being broken even sooner. Isn't 'Pink Pony Club' now also tied with Murder and APT? Given how recent all three of those songs are, I'd say this is probably the most likely of all these records to be broken soon.

What is the most Ordinary #1 ever?
I was waiting for someone to mention them, but as Buzzjack's resident McFly stan I'm afraid I can't accept that any of their number ones were ordinary! (OK maybe 'Please Please' was a tiny bit less amazing than their other number ones)

What is the most Ordinary #1 ever?
No way I'd class this as an ordinary song

JADE - FUFN • 3rd single
So I've just listened to the acoustic version for the first time. I have no idea what y'all are hearing cos it's bloody amazing! Her vocals sound stunning on it. And as for the original, it's already shaping up to be my song of the year, I can't get enough of it somewhere in a parallel universe, it's having the 6 week run at #1 it so richly deserves.

What is the most Ordinary #1 ever?
That Gayle song may be polarising but I really don't think you could objectively call it ordinary? It's certainly unique!

What on earth is this? The "your" instead of "you're" in the title has my head in my hands 😒

What is the most Ordinary #1 ever?
This also came into my head! Also agree about some of Westlife's more forgettable number ones

Alex Warren with Jelly Roll - Bloodline
Ordinarily (see what I did there?) I'd have said the same thing but from that clip, and another clip on his IG, the song sounds absolutely massive!

🏠 Club Bizarre v.31 ~confirmations~ 🏠
Love me a bit of house! I'll put my thinking cap on and hopefully won't forget to enter this (reminders would be appreciated!)

Green Day - Saviors
'Ballyhoo' is not bad but I really like 'Smash It Like Belushi' - looking forward to the deluxe version of what is easily one of their best albums to date!

Ed Sheeran - Old Phone
I've got a feeling it was originally pushed as an official single and hence playlisted by R1, but subsequently downgraded to a promo single... I can't be sure though.

☁️ PFSC XVI: Dreamy Pop ☁️ Results
Congrats Rich, and on your birthday too, you couldn't have asked for better timing! Happy birthday 🎂 I really had no idea how well I'd do with a dreamy Saint Etienne song so I'm very happy with finishing 7th and achieving a personal best in this contest Oh and thanks to Addy for my only 12 points, and to anyone else who gave me points!
-
Ed Sheeran - Old Phone
It's definitely an official single, although they might try the old trick of downgrading it to a buzz single if it ends up really bombing.
-
Alison Goldfrapp - Flux
'Finding Xanadu' is quite the bop

☁️ PFSC XVI: Dreamy Pop ☁️ Results
I always seem to have plans or be out for a song contest results and tonight is no different! I'll be home around 10.30 though so I'll catch up with the results then. Not that I'm expecting to do well!
-
Ed Sheeran - Old Phone
Number 9 in the first set of midweeks, he will be massively disappointed with that.

Buzzjack would be up in arms if that happened! I guess it's truly a possibility though.

Mango's Top 40 (28/04/25): All I know is how to catch these fists in a revolving door
Sup Jordan! 1 - Well remembered but actually 'Burning Down' was a 4-weeker (it was Rosé's 'Toxic Till The End' immediately before that which was the last 5-weeker) but yes it's not too often a song spends that long at the top for me. In fact that just prompted me to check the stats - out of the last 20 number ones, 6 of them spent 5+ weeks there, so actually 30% isn't all that rare I guess? 4 - Yes I've enjoyed all three singles (plus 'Holiday Road' in between). With all these singles released, I'm sure there must be an album in the works? 8 - I'll look forward to seeing it do well in both our charts then! It's a fantastic song and I didn't realise he was only 19 😮 20 - Not sure how I'd rank it amongst her singles, probably in the top half but not top quarter! It is a nice song. 22 - I'm still a bit undecided about this, ask me again a couple of weeks 🤔 Thanks 😃

Mango's Top 40 (28/04/25): All I know is how to catch these fists in a revolving door
Thanks Seltin! I'm not feeling Tate and Miley as much as their previous singles yet but they might grow... I think you'll like where Sombr is heading next week though 😁

Aitch & Anne-Marie - LUV?
Added to R1's playlist today. Could it maybe go top 40 in a few weeks?
-
Ed Sheeran - Play
That could always be the song he releases just before the album.
-
Maroon 5 & LISA - Priceless
Yeah this is so bland and forgettable. Shame as I was looking forward to some actually good Maroon 5 music again!
