  1. Plenty of other artists manage to tie in physicals with release week so I'm not sure I'm buying that argument!
  2. LadBaby's 'Food Aid' was based on 'Do They Know It's Christmas'
  3. David Guetta & Bebe Rexha's 'I'm Good (Blue)' I think fits the criteria. EDIT: Damn, I was beaten to it 😂
  4. But Hung Up samples a #3 peaking Abba song so surely that doesn't qualify? And 'Flowers' is loosely based on a #2 peaking Bruno Mars song? Or am I missing something? (probably the latter lol)
  5. It's a bit of a tenuous example but 'Sausage Rolls For Everyone' was basically a version of the previous number one 'Merry Christmas'.
  6. Nothing's impossible of course, but I just can't see it at this point. I feel like it's the sort of song that if it was going to be #1 it would have got there on debut.
  7. And people are still saying she could eventually climb to #1. I don't think so!
  8. Oh wow OK you win! Fair enough, I didn't read that part.
  9. The Cure and Editors are two bands that I've just never "got". Aside from a couple of songs each, neither band do absolutely anything for me at all.
  10. Yeah I really enjoyed that album, it's got some great covers on it, and I still listen to it from time to time!
  11. I still don't understand why 'Get Together' has finished higher than Madonna's other #7 singles when the others are FAR superior but there you go!
  12. Thought I'd so the same album for comparison: My ranking of Discography: The Complete Singles Collection: 1. Domino Dancing 2. It’s a Sin 3. Left to My Own Devices 4. Opportunities (Let’s Make Lots of Money) 5. Always on My Mind 6. So Hard 7. It’s Alright 8. Rent 9. Being Boring 10. Heart 11. Jealousy 12. Suburbia 13. Where the Streets Have No Name (I Can’t Take My Eyes Off You) 14. West End Girls 15. DJ Culture 16. What Have I Done to Deserve This? 17. Was It Worth It? 18. Love Comes Quickly Great website!
  13. Surprised no one's mentioned Kylie's 'Step Back In Time' yet, as that references loads of 70s songs, including Blame It On The Boogie, Walking In Rhythm, Ball Of Confusion, Love Train, Float On and probably a few more... in fact I challenge anyone to find me a song that mentions more song titles!
  14. For me it's second only to 'Burning Down'. I'd say it's looking likely that both will become top 20 hits soon!

Oh wow an old-fashioned "B-side" exclusive to physicals! (although I'm sure it will make its way onto streaming eventually)

Why are you constantly so obsessed with artists releasing songs a week earlier or two weeks later or whatever? You seem to say that about a song every other week. There's no point going over the ifs and whats of single releases, you could take almost any single and make it achieve a better chart position by releasing it in a different week to when it was released. But I just don't see the point!

Underestimate the hit power of the Sheeran at your peril, that's all I can say.
  18. I listened to this album but there's really not much to get excited about. 'Sunset Blvd' is probably the best track on it.
  19. When 'Sweet But Psycho' hit #1 I was convinced she was going to be the next big pop girl. By rights she really should have at least a Tate McRae-size career by this point, so I don't really know what's gone wrong for her. The songs, while mostly pretty good, maybe just haven't been edgy enough?
  20. Not when 'Somebody Told Me' exists!

  23. Should help it stabilise a little next week then I guess
  24. Well if you like Jade and Benson, wait and see where they end up next week 😏 Halsey is good but I don't know how big of a hit it's going to be here. Thanks Seltin!

Wish he'd just bounce back to where he came from. I liked a few of his earlier singles but I'm so over him by this point, he hasn't released anything interesting for a good couple of years now!
