Streaming Services Chart Discussion; W/C 14/03/25
Can't remember the last time we had so many big new releases in a single week! And so many bangers too! Love the Chappell, Jade, Tom Grennan and Sugababes songs Lizzo, Selena/Benny and Sub Focus are pretty good too. Not really sure what to make of Calvin on first listen 😕

What's the next #1?
Now that we've heard 'The Giver' I'm even more convinced it's heading straight to #1! FUFN is amazing though, really hope that smashes too!

Not really sure how you can fail? You literally just copy the URL into the post and press Submit, it's so much simpler than it ever used to be!

I was really looking forward to this, but sadly it doesn't really do much for me on first listen. Was hoping for something stronger. Maybe it's more of a grower than a shower? Agreed that the last minute is the best part though.

What's the next #1?
Personally I've voted for 'The Giver' - even though we haven't heard the studio version yet, anticipation seems high for it.

What's the next #1?
I know there's slight overlap here with Tafty's poll for March 14th releases, but there are other contenders too aside from just the new releases... so 'Pink Pony Club' looks safe for this week, but ahead of Calvin, Chappell and Jade releasing their new singles this Friday, what do we think will be the UK's next number one single? The poll will be open until 12pm on Sunday, at which point it may start to become obvious if there will be a new number one next week.

What's your favourite "pink" top 40 hit?
Chappell running away with it, hard to know whether it's down to recent bias though. Good to see Aerosmith in second place, that's a tune ❤️

What's your favourite "pink" top 40 hit?
Oops I totally read it as Pink Panther 🤣 have edited it now, something which I'm sure you couldn't previously do on a poll, so yay for that!

What's your favourite "pink" top 40 hit?
Not that I recall but it's one we can add to the list!

What's your favourite "pink" top 40 hit?
To celebrate 'Pink Pony Club' giving Chappell Roan a long awaited #1, I thought I'd create a poll under the new Buzzjack to find out the forum's favourite top 40 hit that contains the word "pink" in its title. Obviously not the most common colour for song titles but there are a couple of underrated older hits in there!

It is an odd choice but I think Tom Grennan will feel bigger to young people.

Bop Idol 3.0: CONFIRMATIONS (New deadline now Mon 17th 23:59)
Welcome to the latest song contest hosted in the 21st Century Throwback forum. I present you... Bop Idol 3! Seen as I somehow managed to win the previous edition of the contest (my first time ever winning any Buzzjack song contest) it fell to me, as rules dictate, to host the next edition. I've never hosted anything of this nature before so I would appreciate your patience for any inevitable shortcomings! So, on to the theme for this contest, which I deliberated long and hard about, flitting between a few different ideas I was toying with - but I finally came up with one that (just about) met with approval from the mods: Pop B-Sides and Deep Cuts! I'm from a generation that avidly collected CD singles, in no small part due to the B-sides or bonus tracks that were often included on them. Sometimes the B-sides were better than the A-sides. Then there are the deep cuts, hidden gems buried away on albums which were crying out to be released as a single but were ultimately left consigned to remain undiscovered by the general public. So what we're looking for here are songs released from 2000 onwards which were either a B-side/bonus track on a single, or an album track, but not released as a single in any territory. Genre wise we're looking for pop, but this can be anything from pop/rock to dance pop to bubblegum pop or anything in between. As long as it vaguely fits the broad spectrum of pop, that's fine. Here is your smallprint: 1. Only songs from the year 2000 or later are allowed. 2. The song must not have been released as a single in any major territory. 4. The song must not have been entered into the previous Bop Idol song contest. 5. The song must not have been a top 20 hit in another song contest on the site. However, any song that has previously been entered into these contests may still be vetoed, especially if recent. 6. Any other song that we feel is at an unfair advantage (e.g. well-known on the forum) will still be vetoed at host / mod discretion. 7. As this is a Throwback forum, it is encouraged, but not required, that entries are from a nostalgic time period, ideally up to 2015, however, anything released later may still be acceptable. 8. Artists may have no more than one entry per contest, so first come first served. This is an anonymous song contest, so no revealing or hinting at your entry please! The confirmation window will be open for a full week, so you have until 23:59 GMT on Sunday 16th Monday 17th March 2025 to submit your entry. Entries must be confirmed using the dedicated Google Form - please do not PM me - the link to the form is below: ENTER HERE: https://forms.gle/s4y1mue5LHk32u2eA Any questions or queries, please PM me. I look forward to hearing some undiscovered gems!
