Hey James! I'm sure we must have shared the same #1 before at some point but yeah it is quite rare, the stars have clearly aligned *.* For me it's second only to 'Undressed' now! 'Watch It Burn' is great, better than the last single, so I'm sure it will do well for me. Not massively feeling 'Look At My Life' but it could still grow? Similar comment for 'Sauna' really. Give Whaler another listen, that's an excellent album! Yeah, 'Right Beside You' was a moderately sized hit at the time and definitely one of her best known songs. 'As I Lay Me Down' is one of the most stunning and flawless songs ever written, one of my all time faves

Sophie B. Hawkins was actually my backup choice! I had a few songs of hers I was considering ('California Here I Come' was my frontrunner but 'True Romance' is also a beautiful song) but I'm not sure she's the sort of artist that would have done well in this contest. Which is not to say that that the artist I confirmed will do well either!

Of the previous 8 Script albums, including a GH, 6 of them went to #1 (the other two were #2) so I imagine they'll try to push for another #1, but I do think they'll be frontloaded so I wouldn't be surprised to see Phoebe hang on, I guess it depends if her streams can hold up throughout the week. I don't know how strongly either of them are playing the variants game though.

I'll be voting against tighter criteria - as long as the song isn't too well known I don't think it should matter that it charted for a week at #37 in 1993 or whatever. I guess a Spotify streams threshold is a better way to do it but even then it doesn't give the whole story of how well known a song is.

I spy a definite top 40 hit in there despite the "no charting songs" rule! Not complaining though as I really like the song. An interesting list of artists anyway, some I know, many I haven't heard of - looking forward to giving them a listen this week.

OMG 'Hootie Fruitti' is brilliant, so much fun! Pure unadulterated pop, this is what we want from them. The whole EP is decent, 'Bel Air' is decent too, it's only the 5th song which feels a bit weak.

The album is decent, maybe even my favourite from them! Really loving 'Someday, Somewhere' in particular at the moment.

Yeah it's a "thanks but no thanks" from me.
