Yeah I'm not sure they were proper singles, just tracks thrown out there. It sounds like this one will be given a proper push - although his hype does seem to have totally evaporated from 3 years ago so I'm still not expecting it to do much.

That would only put it on 303 points as it's spent 3 weeks at #1. 'As It Was' spent 10 weeks at #1 and, by my counting, 65 weeks in the top 40, giving it 650 points, blowing Mariah (and probably everything else) out of the water!

I'd be surprised if 'The Giver' was suddenly released this Friday after all this time. On a separate note, is the site being a bit slower than usual for anyone today, or is it just me?

I feel like this has been a deliberately low key release though, that's why I wasn't sure if it was for a new era proper. I also prefer 'Don't Panic' out of the two.

I'm guessing this is just an EP she's throwing out there rather than the start of a full blown era?

From last week: 1 - I don't think he adds *that* much to it, but it's a great song either way! 4 - It's not my favourite Chappell song by any means but yeah I agree, it's good to see how quickly it's blown up :) 24 - Yeah they've definitely gone back to their roots with this! 25 - I have listened to Teddy's album and I like it! There are a few skippable tracks but on the whole it's a solid effort and with repeated listens I'm confident some of the skippable tracks will grow. 34 - I'd rank all three roughly the same. I preferred 'Greedy' and 'Exes'. But it's good to see that she's still able to score instant hits! Thanks :D

That's a very late add for Olly Alexander considering his album came out last week!

Pretty much agree with that post, it's a very Manics-by-the-numbers album and it all feels a little too safe, but I guess that's to be expected at this point in their career. Overall I think The Ultra Vivid Lament was a better album.

Isla Fisher was in it?? I completely missed that! Who did she play? Saw it last night and it was fine but I thought it lacked some of the spark and magic of the first three. There were a few periods where I felt it dragged a bit. Definitely my least favourite of the four.

^ Yeah I knew Roy recorded it originally but I always refer to Cyndi's as the original because it was the first released version of the song, so it's the first version people were familiar with. I know Roy's version is generally better regarded though and that I'm in the minority who hugely prefer Cyndi's version!

I've got so much love for 'I Drove All Night', it's up there with my favourite songs ever, so I'm disappointed it's gone out relatively early. Because I've always loved the original so much, I'm not too keen on Roy's version, but I already know it's going to do better than Cyndi's :( 'Winter In July' is a masterpiece too, the production and vocals and everything about it are incredible :wub:

My comment wasn't a criticism, I was just curious as to what the criteria were for including a release. The eight most prominent releases of the week seems fair, I was just surprised to see the BSB listed!
