Agreed, it's a great song, just vastly overplayed which I guess is the issue

How the other half live, eh!

'Alibi' should never have worked on paper but actually it was a bit of a tune - doesn't belong anywhere near the top 10 here!

Where on earth did you get odds that good? I'm not seeing anywhere near those figures!
  7. Thanks Jay, much appreciated! So after 77 votes, here's how a more accurate top 10 looks! Position | Title | (No. votes / % of people who voted based on 77 votes) 1 The Pogues feat. Hi Seltin! Bored of Jade now and Sabrina's not going to do much better either  Mimi's song is great though! Thanks :D Thanks Sergej, good to see there's plenty you're enjoying this week :)
  9. Is there a way of freezing the poll now? As it would be a bit meaningless if people started adding to it now!
  10. You could have been the hero of the moment and instead you ended up being the zero of the moment :P
  11. Let's just go with this as the top 10 then, based on Jim's memory - even if it's not 100% accurate it looks about right: Position | Title | (No. votes / % of people who voted based on 70 votes) 1 The Pogues feat. Kirsty MacColl - Fairytale Of New York (31 / 44.3%) 2= The Waitresses - Christmas Wrapping (25 / 35.7%) 2= Wizzard - I Wish It Would Be Christmas Everyday (25 / 35.7%) 4= Brenda Lee - Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree (21 / 30%) 4= Mariah Carey - All I Want For Christmas Is You (21 / 30%) 4= Shakin' Stevens - Merry Christmas Everyone (21 / 30%) 4= Wham! - Last Christmas (21 / 30%) 8 Kelly Clarkson - Underneath The Tree (19 / 27.1%) 9 Leona Lewis - One More Sleep (16 / 22.9%) 10 Coldplay - Christmas Lights (14 / 20%) FONY continuing to be Buzzjack's favourite Christmas song then! 12. Is there no way they can be restored or have they been lost forever?
  13. Mangø posted a post in a topic in Pop and Country
Yeah I feel a bit underwhelmed by the album as a whole, it's definitely not up to the standard of 'APT.' but 'Toxic Till The End' remains an absolute bop, really hope it smashes in the new year!
  14. The votes seem to have plateaued so I'll post the top 10 at some point.

They might discount them next week

That's a ridiculous rule, ACR should either affect everything or nothing!

I took the bait too. I cashed out £5 on my Ariana/Cynthia bet and used it to bet on Tom Grennan instead at 16/1. I think it's unlikely he'll get ahead of Wham! but it was worth a fiver at those odds!

  19. So we're 34 votes in and two songs are on zero votes - poor brave Justin Bieber and Eartha Kitt (and Kylie would have been included in that too if it hadn't been for Last Dreamer) Not too surprised that 'Fairytale Of New York' is in the lead, with 50% of voters having included it, but I'm surprised Mariah and Wham! aren't even in the top 5 :o (EDIT: actually Wham! are joint 3rd but Mariah's not top 5) Good to see 'Christmas Wrapping' performing decently here, I really wish it would make the top 40 one of these years, such an under-rated classic
  20. I probably should have included Greg Lake but it wouldn't allow more than 50 in the list so I had to cut a couple.
  21. OK so I know there was a rate a few years ago to find Buzzjack's ultimate Christmas song, but I thought I'd run a simple poll to see what comes out on top in 2024. This vote is for the classic recurring hits*, the songs we love (or hate) to see charting annually, so I've omitted anything very recent. I can't enforce it but I would suggest being selective and voting for up to your TEN favourite songs only, as this will give a better indication of the most popular songs. For info and comparison, this is how the top 10 looked in the 2019 rate: 1 The Pogues - Fairytale Of New York (feat. Kirsty MacColl) 8.98 2 Shakin' Stevens - Merry Christmas Everyone 8.59 3 Wizzard - I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday 8.45 4 Leona Lewis - One More Sleep 8.38 5 Jona Lewie - Stop The Cavalry 8.35 6 The Waitresses - Christmas Wrapping 8.28 7 John Lennon & Yoko Ono - Happy Xmas (War Is Over) 8.21 8 Boney M. - Mary's Boy Child/Oh My Lord 8.16 9 Mariah Carey - All I Want For Christmas Is You 8.15 10 The Darkness - Christmas Time (Don't Let The Bells End) 8.06 But will the results of this poll match the results of the rate? *I made a decision to also include East 17, Frankie Goes To Hollywood etc. as rightly or wrongly, they have come to be associated with the festive season, please don't come at me for my selection of songs!
  22. Omg can we please not let that Peggy thing become a hit? What a load of utter shit.
  23. Same happened with me... surely they will make more available, right?!

    It's very 2010s Taylor Swift!
  25. I'm loving 'Your House' but that new one's doing nothing for me!
