The Last Dinner Party - From The Pyre
Yeah I'm really disappointed with the album considering the quality of the singles. I will give it another listen at some point but I suspect it's not an album I'll be returning to much.

5 Seconds of Summer - EVERYONE’S A STAR!
Another decent song, very promising for the album!

The “biggest” artist with no UK Top 40 single?
Hootie & The Blowfish is a good shout for this, I've heard them mentioned a lot over the years, so it's a surprise to me that they haven't had a top 40 single in the UK (they had 7 in the US)

Sam Fender feat. Elton John - Talk To You
I don't think he should be credited considering he's just playing the piano
-
Melanie C - 'Sweat'
Hmmm, it really wants to be a big dance banger but it kinda just falls short. I think I might like it more with repeated listens though. Is the album going to be all in the same vein as this? Wasn't really expecting her to go down the dance route!

I can see them now, weird that I couldn't earlier!

Can't see the Teddy Swims or Thomas/Niall songs on Spotify, guess they've both been delayed?
-
Bon Jovi - Forever
That's a collab I would never have called!
-
Charlie Puth - Whatever's Clever!
No the artwork is most definitely not it, and nor is that title tbqh. But as long as it's as good as the last album I'll be happy!

Mango's Top 40 (13/10/25): Ophelia's drinking lemonade with Dracula as they take a secret drive
Hi Sergej! Yeah 'Talk To Me' is indeed quite the funky little number! Definitely in contention for my next #1. Yeah RAYE's and Lewis's songs are at complete opposite ends of the musical spectrum but both are great songs! 'Bonkers' definitely lives up to its name, it's a lot of fun! Thanks Hey James! Perrie has definitely peaked now, great result for her though. RAYE might have another climb in her, we shall see. Yeah #24 is an unusually high position for anyone to enter my chart so we could definitely be looking at a smash hit here. I'm not gonna write her album off just yet, need to give it another couple of listens before making my mind up about it I think. Jade's song is definitely a bit of a banger, although I would have been equally happy with 'Unconditional' as the single tbh. Thanks

If you didn't know who Renee Rapp was then Goldfrapp is actually a very reasonable answer!

I know, I was being a bit facetious and tongue in cheek really. I'm just one of these people who hates being subjected to Christmas music too early so the thought of seeing Christmas songs in the charts in October particularly annoys me!

Also can I take this opportunity to plug this week's quiz (Song Pictionary), which I'm running over in the Lounge. In case you haven't seen it, you can access it here: https://www.buzzjack.com/forums/topic/283105-quiz-season-week-4-the-return-of-mangos-song-pictionary/

That's actually very generous of you, thank you! I just couldn't work out how Val Doonican fitted with What Makes A Man and didn't even think there might be an alternative way to think about the question! In hindsight I don't think it's that unreasonably worded actually!

JSG'S Top 40, #152, 15/10/2025
Hey James! That's a very belated #1 for Chappell but still quite deserving I suppose. I don't love it as much as a lot of people on here but that last minute or so of the outro is pretty sublime *.* Good to see Perrie make the top 10 and 'Saboteur' is a highlight from Jade's album so good to see that too. 'The Fate Of Ophelia' is quite the bop so of course it had to be your highest new entry! Your next number one I'm guessing? The rest of the album doesn't quite live up to that song, but I'm sure it will grow on me a bit more with repeated listens. Nice chart as per

Streaming Services Chart Discussion; W/C 10/10/25
I've found myself torn over the last few years over whether to play any Lostprophets music or not. Pre-conviction I really liked some of their stuff, and I've always been of the view that you can separate the art from the artist, and just because I'm choosing to listen to a particular song doesn't mean that I agree with or condone the actions of the person that wrote/performed it. For example I strongly disagree with J.K. Rowling's views but does that mean that I should never watch a Harry Potter movie again? So I have in the past occasionally played that Gary Glitter Christmas song (which I used to like as a kid) or the odd R. Kelly song. But with this case being notably the most vile of its kind it was difficult to even listen to Ian Watkins' voice. The few times I did play them I always made sure it was never on streaming services, only from my music collection. Whether I'll start playing any of their music on Spotify now I'm still undecided - I'm thinking that there's so much other good music available that maybe there's no need?

I can see her maybe headlining the next Glastonbury (in 2027)

FFS there really is NO NEED to release Christmas songs in October. I wish we could ban this sort of thing.

I had no idea that was Beabadoobee. If I'd have got her I think I would automatically have got the Bee Gees!

I didn't recognise it at all and I feel really silly now because it seems so obvious that it's her!
