Sex Dreams sounds like it could have been on The Fame Monster or Born This Way? It's very similar to say, Heavy Metal Lover, in my mind... and thematically it's the same thing she's been doing since her first record. I just remember Rihanna coming out with We Found Love and being like DAMN! Gaga needs a song like that? Something that's really solid and kind of different than what the public expects from her? Cyndi Lauper comes to mind bc while Madonna went on to be a global superstar, Cyndi basically kept making the same songs over and over and look what happened. I love Cyndi, but just saying! That being said, a lot of her looks this era have been pretty fantastic. The one saving grace so far...

It's just disappointing bc I feel like she's never really quite left the Paparazzi/Bad Romance/Telephone-era. Those were all amazing songs and videos and deserved success but to stay relevant you need to switch things up. Look at Madonna, the first 3 records were pretty similar sonically but from Like a Prayer on each album was totally different (both a reflection of the times but also pushing new ideas forward). Even someone like Cher, who has basically kept coming back with hits up until 2000 - her image and sound changed. I'm just bored tbh! The songs sound the same, the image is the same, the idea is the same, and I feel like the public has honestly moved on. Those clips sound fine/catchy but that's all.

It's a shame about the lyrics to Burqa/Aura bc that production is wild

Incredible. Such a good farewell to summer, one of the best pop songs of the year. Video of course isn't anything crazy or spectacular but fits the mood so nicely imo. I'm getting such Robyn comeback vibes from them tbh just from reading that Popjustice interview, they're so in control of what they're doing and they're making really quality pop music that could definitely be chart successful but isn't its main intent. I'm so excited for the album. Also y'all are really critical of physical appearance :/ sheesh. They all look great.
