I don't think that Bieber album will do that well as radio isn't behind him much this time. They're hardly playing the follow up singles to Boyfriend.

Thanks... so it could be close with Bieber the next few weeks and then we have to see how the album holds up. My guess is 1D will, in the long run beat Bieber because Bieber's had 2-3 singles out already and I don't know what left's to promote. I can easily see 1D's album closing in on 2mil by end of 2012

What's the US sales so far?

Ellie's sales can only go up as she hit the top 10 and climbing steadily since Sunday night.... last week's sales ended Sunday, so if anything, I expect her to be 6 or 7 when we get our report next week!

Agree. But the problem probably was introducing him to that format directly. So now they "break" his name via 1D, and then he goes off on his own into AAA territory. Being a foreigner in the US, what I've constantly noticed in the US moreso than in any other country is the constant need to pigeonhole artists into a certain format. Olly might suffer the same issues Robbie Williams facd whilst they tried to break him in the States (he was considered too pop for rock stations, too rock for pop stations). For the std AAA listener, he looks a bit 'young' and 'naive'. Yet, for the pop stations, he's not "cool dude" material but can come across as looking a bit dorky for the avg. American Joe. I really like his music though, and I like him so I hope he does well!

Adult Contemporary... the smae channels that play Buble, Celine dion, etc.

billboard.biz had predicted sales of around 50K for Ed so not surprised there. But wow, Adele sold 60K this week? Who's buying it?!

And the funny thing is, they're making it look so easy! Who'd have thought save for Matt Cardle, the other 3 on The UK X Factor would be cracking the US charts?! I wonder if will.i.am will push Cheryl's "Call my name" in the US as well.

I hate to sound like a wet blanket but I really hope this does something for the album. All the renewed interest/airplay in the song and the high chart positions, etc. but it's hardly done anything for the album, has it? She's the La Roux "Bulletproof" of 2012 :(

Or, has it occured that Olly's music, much like Robbie williams isn't just that US-radio friendly? Actually in that song, I don't think it would've made any diff. who rapped on it as the rap is so inconsequential. I'm actually still surprised that the song was even given a US push, much less entering the iTunes 200. If anything, they should go with "dance with me tonite" and service that to AAA radio (kind of present him as a 20s something Michael Buble).

Quite good considering she didn't have a big radio hit. It seems easy for UK artists to debut on the US charts these days, isn't it?!

Thanks for this. Never thought we'd see the day 5 of the year's US best sellers YTD are foreign acts. Well 5.5 if we're counting Sia. I'm a bit "disappointed" by The Wanted's sales, not that I thought GYC was a "I gotta feeling" type seller, but I was hoping it would've broken the 3mil mark seeing as it's been around forever, or feels like it. Looks like 1D's "Beautiful" will easily surpass it.
