That, but to be honest I don't think Rocnation wanted to do what Parlo did for K during the Aphrodite era. That was a mess...she did get cool promo spots but GOMW wasn't the right single to open an album in the US. By that yardstick, "Into the blue", as mellow as it may sound sounds more suited for US audiences than Aphrodite which was a bit kitsch for mainstream US radio appeal. As for KMO, I heard she's planning on spending summer in the US promoting so let's see what comes out of that. But again, they need to go with the right song. If a 45yo does Sexercise in ageist sexist America, it won't go down well. That'll be as bad as previous experiments such as RBW and "All I see". In the UK, I don't know if Rocnation gave up or wanted to cater to her small fanbase. They've spent tons of money creating the album and video to say "lets just chuck it to the usual 30-50K gay fans". They're probably thinking of some other 'strategy' like a slow build up and a slow burn across 3-4 singles. You never know....time will tell. If the 2nd single is Sexercise, then it's a goner. Even her new found home of R2 will abandon her!

Am I in the minority in saying that I actually love Beautiful?! It's clichéd but it really sounds like a nice song on mainstream radio.

Is she though? After the UK, she seems to do a ton of promo in France, infact even on KMO release week she was out promoting it at FNAC versus doing an in-store signing at a UK shop (well, granted many of those don't exist anymore!).

Nice to see Gabrielle Aplin doing well with TPOL. I loved that song the min I heard it early 2013!

Those I knew. I was referring to the "And Kylie's saved all her promo for the second half of the week" comment you made. I don't know of any 2nd half week promos other than Sports Relief.

Also what K promo is remaining now other than the Sports Relief spot (and I hope she sings ITB, and not Sexercise or EFY as rumoured). I really don't count that MasterCard Priceless concert as any big thing because those secret events don't get the kind of buzz a TV spot garners. My guess with the Rocnation strategy is perhaps start slow/low and then kick up the promo for the next single?

I really think I underestimated GM! Does he still have that many fans in the UK?! Good for him (I'm a GM fan). If on track to selling 55K without any promo, just imagine had he nabbed an ITV special or something (like Buble always seems to do come Xmas time)... GM could've easily beaten Pharrell's 70K opening sales. I have to say as a GM fan, I'm impressed and happy for him. Sad I can't 'celebrate' because he's the reason KMO will come in at #2!

Agree. If anything, I expect a heated contest next week between Sam Bailey and George Michael (given the demographics) for Mother's Day. If K has to get to #1, it's got to be this week (unless by a miracle she pulls a Halcyon at some point in time!)

I really think "Sirens" and "I wish" have been 2 of Cher Lloyd's best tracks yet but as mentioned already on this thread, these generic pop songs are so dependent on US radio and whether they get onboard or not. For example I think 1D's "little things" was a much better song than "Story of my life" but radio for some reason decided to support the later. Also can I say as clichéd as it is, I love Calvin's new song! As for Ellie, she also performed that Divergent song on the Today Show or something recently, no?

GM is now 1 and 25 whilst KMO is 2 and 18....this looks like it'll be really close. I surely thought Rocnation would do more with the promo, unless they're thinking of staggering it out instead of keeping it front ended like previous album releases?

George is 2 and 20 on iTunes. I can hope that with both being heritage acts, both sales are front loaded but GM's tails off earlier than KM's!

Totally ok (as in, I'm sad if she doesn't get to #1) but are we guessing that GM's pre-orders were more than KMO or is there some site/information that tracks this? I'm honestly surprised he has such a big fan following still!

I liked the album. It's safe and nice and she knows no point in making the Rihanna or Katy Perry style of music because at 45, she doesn't attract that kind of audience anymore anyway. This album doesn't break any barriers or anything, but comes across as a mature pop/dance effort. It's not embarrassing like MDNA was, and not wannabe as well. My favourites are the PWL'y title track and album closer Fine. I also loved "Feels so good". The most disappointing was "Sexercise" because the clips made it sound so much promising, but looks like all the good bits of the song were delivered in the clip itself. I doubt G Michael will be... it's a live album. Unless he has some amazing promo lined up?
