I get you, and I'm that way too! But the "rivalry" can only help publicity for both bands!

I thnk they'll do more than those 2 bands mentioned, esp. RSF as they were marketed as a novelty act anyway. But The Wanted and 1D have the potential of being this generation's BSB and N'Sync. Plus with The Wanted being top 5 on the singles' chart the same time 1D are expected to crack the album charts bodes well for publicity for both of them.

Nice to see 1D holding up. Once airplay kicks in, things can only go up up up

March 1st week I believe.... the reason the song is doing so well is because of the coverage they're getting for their tour. I saw pix of fans sleeping outside the venue in Chicago, it felt like it was an N'Sync concert during their peak days. The more I'm seeing this 1D hype here, the more I'm inclined to believe that the album could very well debut at #1.

Very nice. But when Ed Sheeran make his iTunes debut with "A team"?? I'm waiting for that one to tear US radio.... it's got Pop/AC written all over it.

Yeah it's a bad sample.... I tihnk I'd read somewhere about how they add digital sales at the end, or at the beginning... but it is skewed.

That's very true. And call me uncool, but I actually like a lot of their songs probably because they're more boyband-dancey than the Boyzone/Westlife soppy ballads. "Gold forever" came on my iPod the other day and it was properly amazing!

For now, I can see The Wanted peaking at 3 on iTunes but #1 really seems doubtful esp. with Kelly's rising airplay and sales. I am stunned at fun.'s success given that airplay is very less and the only thing selling the car is a commercial which isn't even on TV that often. It must have good word of mouth.

Thanks. Adele ever so close to the 160mil mark, and can I just say I'm getting tickled by seeing Calvin's jump up both the airplay as well as iTunes charts?! He could end up with a top 40 hit if nothing else, which is amazing and something I'd never have predicted 5 yrs ago when he started. Also good gain for The Wanted. Does 1D go for official adds t'row or 1st week of March? Also when will mainstream radio embrace Gotye? :(

Also where do the bulk of Aus CD sales come from? The charts seem fairly different from iTunes, esp the album chart. Also is a chart week Sat - Fri?

Yeah, surprising to see 1D backing up the chart again. Hopefully The Wanted can leap into the Bb 100 top 15 next week then? (or top 10 ?)

I won't be surprised if they debut in the top 5... .as you pointed out, when 123K fans could buy a digital single, imagine the buzz amongst pre-teen girls when they can lay their hands on the CD with pictures, special edition, etc. Plus at that time they'd have had the iCarly and the Morning Show appearances as well to add on to the sales.

1D's press coverage in the US and hype was a given.... I read an article about how they're expected to debut at #1 on the album charts as well. Cowell's handling the whole thing very very well! Will be interesting to see what they do with Cher Lloyd when she's ready to release over here.

sadly I don't think Adele's going back to #1 with SFTTR as sales have started to drop. But 3 #1s from an album, much less from a British artist is incredible!

You know, if I were a label exec, I'd pay them my kidneys too seeing the effect it has on promotion.

What amazes me is in the era of illegal downloads, a 1yr old album is doing so well! Could this end up being 2012's best seller too? If it's going to end Feb with 1.8mil, it can easily do 3mil by the end of the year, nowt?

Make it 22 weeks with an expected 300K sales next week taking the 2012 US total to about 1.8mil!! Wow! Adele's 21 will easily score another week at #1, her 22nd, with an estimated total now close to 300k. Young Money/Cash Money/Universal Republic rapper Tyga's sophomore album, Careless World: Rise of the Last King, should do 70-80k, which is all digital sales, since the physical copy of the album was pulled due to an uncleared sample from Martin Luther King's "I Have a Dream" speech. Tyga is an acronym which stands for "Thank You God Always" for the prolific mixtape artist of Vietnamese-Jamaican origin, whose real name is Michael Ray Nguyen-Stevenson and whose previous album, 2008's No Introduction, was on the Decaydance label. Could someone tell me how sales vs airplay works on the BB100?

Congrats to 1D, and I suspect The Wanted will easily make Top 20 on next week's chart as the song is safely in the iTunes top 10 and airplay's rising too. Any more promo lined up for TW?
