  1. It has been the odd hit on radio for a while now (I've heard it at the barber's of all places :D ), but now with the Grammys hype and that Smash show perf., it'll probably get more exposure. I just hope she comes for another round of US promo like late Spring/early Summer, plays at an awards show or an Idol type and #1 is in the bag.
  2. Quite surprised at Calvin's rise in radio airplay which is reflected on his rise up iTunes as well....
  3. Yeah, I think Adele will eventually stay at #1 this week. Tyga might do around 250K and Adele btn 250-300K.
  4. The Wanted will hopefully get a boost after the Glee perf.
  5. So not even 2 months up and we're already looking at 1.5mil selling album AND possibly becoming the best selling album this year as well! Also good for '19' reaching a new peak.
  6. I was about to post the same thing.... and exactly 52 weeks after the album was released in the US, she doubles her 1st week sales of 350K!!
  7. And thanks to the TV show Smash, "Rumour has it" has jumped up 20 places to #25.
  8. 1D have Simon Cowell's backing and he has a lot of good contacts with the industry, not to mention tons of TV shows. I always thought he can do for 1D what he did for Boyle and Leona in the US. BTW, in addition to iCarly, they also have a slot booked for The Morning Show on NBC. As for The Wanted, GYC is an amazing song and has been embraced by radio, but going by their follow-ups, I don't see them having a 2nd big hit in the US unless they team up with a rapper du jour.
  9. Sorry, I took your comment seriously. I don't know... I feel about MIA what I feel about Bjork... I just don't *get* them. Having said that, let me give the song another shot! :)
  10. It's called an opinion for a reason - there is no right or wrong.
  11. TBH, I'm not really that much worried about 1D because they seem to have built massive hype in the US, and judging by how the album and single have done elsewhere, they will get American success. The Wanted on the other hand - GYC is a great song but they don't have the kind of backing 1D have in terms of promotion, plus I don't even know what the follow up will be. "One thing" sounds suitably made for US radio, infact sounds like a 2012 versoin of a Backstreet Boys song.
  12. I've always found MIA a bunch of hype, the only reason that "Bad girls" got into the iTunes 100 was because of the SB appearance.
  13. :( @ the Gotye increases. It's doing remarkably well for a song with such low airplay. But by the time pop stations catch on to it, the sales would've started slipping. Yay for Adele, although with Katy's sales' lead and Kelly Clarkson catching up on her on on airplay, I doubt Adele will reclaim #1 again, and if so, a week at max.
  14. I think Gaga should take a GOOD LONG break. But good for Katy though, nice to see good ol' pop songs doing well on the chart.
  15. Does Australian radio play anything besides 90% "songs successful in the US' and 10% Australian acts? I rarely see very few European/British acts do well in Australia (who haven't done well in the US).
  16. "trump card" - collaboration with Flo Rida or Wiz Khalifa or Pitbull, as always :P And agree about the 2nd point - Natasha Bedingfield, Craig David, etc. to name but few. Also we could include Leona in that crowd too if it weren't for the umpteen X Factor appearances she gets in the UK that still keeps her in the public profile.
  17. I suspect Ellie's 2nd album will do well, but as for Lights, she's done all she can to promote the hell out of it including playing at a D.C Xmas party for the White House but this is as far as it'll go.
  18. Easy top 5. Could go to #1 too if she throws in an "American Idol" or "The voice" promo.
  19. Happy for Calvin and that ain't a a bad increase for The Wanted as well.... "Glad you came" seems to be holding well on the iTunes top 20 so another climb is guaranteed this week, hopefully into the top 20. Will be interesting to see if Adele's SFTTR reclaims #1 from Kelly or not. What's with the poor airplay for fun.? You would think a song doing so well on iTunes would get more than decimal updates!
  20. I don't think Labrinth can make it there... I'm still surprised Tinie's "Written in the stars" got that high, but then again "Pass out" was a complete flop. Example could, but I'm really putting my money on Ed Sheeran now. Especially that he's touring here and is getting good media love.
  21. The market is in need of a new Alicia Keys style singer and Rebecca can fill that void. She doens't have that "session singer" feel that Leona had back in 2008.
  22. The way it's holding up on iTunes at 10, I would say an easy debut within the top 25.
  23. Paid about 30$ to see her at a concert, and we were told that we had to buy her album (that they were selling there) if we wanted our picture with her (and autograph). I've seen other UK acts in the same venue (KT Tunstall, Imogen heap) and they were all very gracious, none of these stunts. In any case, as much as I love Ellie's voice on CD, I think she's lousy live. Although she's got a very fit body!
  24. I bought it because it was the only way Ellie would give me an autograph. Mean bitch! :D
  25. Oh they are, that's nice!
