  1. Could someone post how Gotye's doing, thanks! Wow at The Wanted! Yay at Adele too! Another airplay #1 in the bag, hopefully with next week's Grammys. I'm still fairly confident that Madonna will continue to drop by Tue-Wed on airplay and sales.
  2. Even if it does, I don't see it having the MTV Awards /"Someone like you" effect where SLY stayed at the top for a few days. By Wed, Madge would've dropped back. Having said that, I think an SB perf beats any other kind of promo.
  3. Given that Kelly has a well defined lead over Adele on iTunes, how realistic is it that she can get the #1 next week with a significantly lower airplay?
  4. 1mil overall, not 1st week sales
  5. OK thanks. Well, good for her then. I tihnk the SB appearance (if done right) will boost sales, although I'll think that her back catalogue will benefit more than the current "project". In any case, she will get a #1 debut, but without radio support for singles 2 onwards, as we've seen with the last 3 studio albums, I don't know if she can sell more than 1mil.
  6. Having heard the song (not seen the vid yet, that link was removed), I do like Elephant. BUT, without radio promo, it won't go anywhere as it's as generic as they come.

LOL, sorry Theo. I never knew there was a gender flag till you pointed me to it!
  8. Is that meant to be good or not? In any case, whatever airplay she's got now, let's see how it holds up after Monday.
  9. She won't. EVER. There is no hype for the new song, it's more the hype about her SB appearance and this song just happens to tie into that. But come Monday, I don't expect radio stations like Z100 or KIIS-FM to play the new song because it's Madonna. Like previous SB performers, expect a big jump for her GH albums. The new stduio album will do well, like HC but won't be yielding any major radio hits. She knows that too, hence the desparation of getting Justin and Timbaland on the last album, and Nicki Minaj for this one.
  10. Easy. The fact that they've so effortlessly managed a top 10 single and album in Aus and parts of Europe shows that there is space for a pretty boyband and 1D are it. Plus in the US, they seem to be getting promo spots for their audience, like that iCarly show. May not be a #1, but WMYB will easily be top 10 for days to come.

There I agree... besides which, songs by regional artists are used in other countries. For example, Sugababes "Girls" was used for a US advert of Kohls. However I don't think Theo was trying to be rude, she probably assumed that her country flag made it obvious that it's a UK-only ad. I loved the video for "Too good to lose", different from the last one!
  12. Delta Goodrem anyone? Craig David anyone?!
  13. TBH, she was never a Radio 1 fave. Her entire success story (good or bad songs) has been based on media and X Factor hype. But's over 3 yrs since she won, and without releasing an album every minute like JLS, public interest has waned. Sadly, she won't have radio to 'remind' people about her... she'll have to do the hard work (promo) herself. Marketing strategies between her and Leona have been SO different! I'm surprised Burke's album dind't even get a US release after the initial hhype, and getting the likes of Pitbull, Flo Rida and Ne Yo to contribute.
  14. I agree. If he can't crack the US, at least will be nice if he can enjoy Robbie Williams type success (mainland EU and Aus).
  15. Thanks guys. yeah, what I meant in my earlier post was that he wasn't getting airplay significant enough to appear in this list... It's already close to the top 10 on iTunes so once airplay kicks in, it should do v well! Wonder if it has enuff steam to become a #1.
  16. Any idea how much Ellie's Lights has sold in the US? I also presume we can expect Rumer to go higher in next week's chart as I only started seeing it on iTunes as late as Sunday night.

    Where? America or the UK?
  18. Seriously, Gotye's up to #31 and nowhere on the airplay chart! Surely some radio stations have got to be playing the song by now!
  19. "managed" is the right word. Could fall to Kelly next week, and depending on how airplay picks up after the Grammys, she could get back to 1.
  20. I'll be surprised if she flogs SFTTR on the BRITS. Although, seeing as she'd have rehearsed for SFTTR for the Grammys (assuming that's what she does), it'll save her the trouble of rehearsing for 2 songs in the span of a week.
  21. Wow at The Wanted btw, #24 on iTunes now! Another 20 place jump on the next BB100 then?!
  22. I'm actually hoping that she sings SFTTR at the Grammys so it hangs around the chart/#1 longer, then perhaps comes back to the US for the American Idol finals (squeeze in a few more promos late Spring/early summer) for the 4th single promo.
  23. She's been doing a series of concerts in the US but when I was tracking it, it didn't seem any different than Ellie Goulding's, or Eliza Doolittle's. So I really didn't expect such a high new entry on the chart. Low sales or not, it's quite surprising that she's come out of nowhere and in the itunes top 10 for over 24 hours.
