  1. With the Grammys round the corner, I think airplay for SFTTR will pick up again and will become an airplay #1.
  2. Adele continues her lead... wow! With the Grammys on the way, we could see about 500K sold in the 1st two months of 2012.
  3. Having 2 albums (std and deluxe) editions in the top 20 is quite amazing, I didn't even kniow she was planning to hit the US. This might mean a top 50 Billboard chart position?
  4. Any idea why Kelly Clarkson's "Stronger" just blasted through the roof on iTunes? It's not yet the big airplay song, is it?
  5. It's doing well on airplay but not exactly lighting up the sales ("Domino"). Adele's next single can be a #1 single like Spring'ish, if she clubs it with some US promo. I wonder how Rebecca Ferguson will do, you never know.... it's very new-age Mary J Blige.
  6. With SFTTR back at 2 on iTunes, I presume it's safe to assume a 2nd week at 1 for Adele?
  7. Given how low the non-holiday sales are, I really don't see much being added to that total no matter which record is Radio 2's song of the week/month. This will be lucky to sell 300K. Not shabby, but given that even Rebecca Ferguson sold 410K albums in 2011 only on the strength of 1 single, this looks quite bad.

So any idea if any US promo is planned. Apparently it's being released late Spring'12.
  9. With a 4th single and the Grammys left (win or lose), Adele should easily do about 1.5 mil this year taking the album's total sales to 7.5mil by the end of 2012. Selling another 2.5mil in the next decade is easy peasy.
  10. ONJ has always been a mystery, but for the most part in American 'culture', she's considered Australian.
  11. I'm sorry but I love it!
  12. Hopefully the Grammys buzz will keep SFTTR afloat a bit longer. I'm thinking about 3 weeks at #1 before she surrenders the crown to Kelly?
  13. I just checked, it's #2. Kelly C's at #1.
  14. Amazing for Adele!! I'm seriously curious on how long SFTTR will last though. That Guetta/Minaj song isn't budging from the #1 on iTunes!
  15. How is it that Gotye isn't gaining on airplay when the song's already cracked the top 20 on iTunes??
  16. So happy for Adele. Airplay is on the up, but I don't know how many weeks it can stay at #1. The 2 big threats (Guetta/Minaj and Kelly C) are less than 50mil on radio so hopefully SFTTR should stay at #1 for a few more weeks on the strength of airplay, and then the Grammys will hopefully boost the sales for a bit. A four week #1 will be nice!
  17. How did Adele fall to 3? :( I hope she gets a #1 on the BB. I'm surprised Katy's and Rihanna's airplay are still so high!
  18. Olly might end up being the new Robbie Williams (minus the European and Australian fanbase), never make it in America but why would he care when he's produced 2 multiplat UK albums. Do we know if there are any plans for a European onslaught? Surely if 1D can get a #1 album in Sweden, so can Olly!
  19. I would think they're primarily targetting the Justin Bieber type of fanbase, and nothing's more alienating to an American pre-teen than knowing their favourite boyband are performing down the road at the local gay joint.
  20. Agree at highlighted. Surprised as well.
  21. Lots of reasons - economy, people cutting down on discretionary spending (and hence illegally downloading music), lack of record stores, and more than that - very few artists that people are aware of who are making a solid album. I'm not saying that there aren't any, but just that the public aren't that aware given how pigeonholed radio stations are and don't play a variety of music. People get their share of music with things like Spotify, etc. so don't feel the need to "own" music. Every time I log into Facebook, all I get are those status messages on "XXX listened to blah-blah artist, blah-blah song on Spotify", etc. Plus, back in the day, there was the concept of a fanbase that would buy anything a Justin or N'Sync or Britney or Eminem put out which would generate sales. Barring Bieber and Buble these days, I don't think there's any artist these days that commands that kind of fanbase. Record companies too don't seem to be investing too much in 1 artist as they would before.
  22. They've so far played their cards right, with their debut perf on Ellen. My only problem is that they don't seem ready for the US primetime yet, if that awful perf. on Ellen was anything to go by. Thank God for them there's a shortage in the boyband dept. One Direction are slated to start their US conquest soon as well, so hopefully they can generate more publicity in a media created "battle of UK boybands" thing. I think their new album minus a few tracks is US-ready.
  23. Do we think Adele has a chance of topping the BB100 this week then? The songs above her on the airplay chart are well below her on the iTunes chart.
  24. I'm really amused at The Wanted. I love the song but never imagined in a million years that it wud do so well!
  25. The Wanted are climbing, and thanks to airplay, it's going up the iTunes chart as well.
