  1. It's probably because the country has so many hackers and tech geeks that people are constantly finding innovative ways of downloading music without paying. I don't think music consumption's changed, just that America's been cursed by its own intelligence.
  2. Wow at the Wanted!! Although in all fairness, it's a really catchy song.
  3. Yeah, 1D are/will be marketed much better than The Wanted. Plus there's the Cowell factor, no doubt he'll pull some strings to get them some high profile appearances, as well as appear in interviews praising them. I recall how he took Leona with him everywhere he went (E! TV, etc.) and promoted the hell out of her even before she'd started working on the 1st studio album.
  4. Right on all counts. I'm hoping she recovers fully by March/April and perhaps does an American Idol appearance for the 4th single. Don't even know if they'll go with Rumour or Turning Tables.
  5. I think iTunes and the power of the Internet is doing a lot in breaking foreign acts in the US. The other day at iTunes America I saw a little picture of One Direction saying coming March'12. Rebecca Ferguson also got a record deal. I'm hoping even Emile Sande can break it in the US.
  6. I was asking for a song by a British artist that didn't make the UK top 10 but made the US Top 5 or even #1. I guess we have to go as far back as George Michael "Faith" era where many of his US top ten hits and #1 were minor top 40 hits in the UK.
  7. I just hope sales are strong enough then for a 3rd BB #1. When was the last time a British artist had a much bigger hit in the US than the UK? (I don't mean songs like Taio Cruz's "Break your heart" that was #2 in the UK and #1 in the US, but SFTTR didn't even crack the UK top 10 and could be a potential US #1).
  8. Yeah, SFTTR is a dead shot #1 next week if it holds in sales. Airplay's increasing ridiculously well. And yay for The Wanted... back in the 100s now.
  9. Do you think they'll show UK X Factor then?
  10. I agree. I've definitely liked everything that's come out of the "Beautiful world" and "The circus" eras.
  11. "SFTTR" jumps 2 slots to #2 on the BB100. Third #1, here we come!!!
  12. To be honest, Gary's been songwriting for years now... how tough is it to put an album of unused songs, or Delta Goodrem rejects?
  13. It's an extremely boring album but I ADORE the title track.
  14. Professor Green could enter the top 40 this week? It's 37 on iTunes.
  15. Adele sells another 100K+ copies of "21" this week in the US to remain atop the BB200. When will this album stop selling?! :)
  16. It's not been a hit like American Idol and Voice, but certainly gets more audience than a normal "hit" show. As pointed out, it's averaged 10mil+ per season. it's a shame that not one of those viewers could download Leona or Tinie Tempah enough to even enter the iTunes 200!!
  17. I was going to ask the same. A performance on Ellen took it to an iTunes peak of 65 wihch is quite good, considering Leona, Tinie, etc. all appeared on X Factor and the songs didn't even enter the iTunes 200!
  18. Good for Jessie J and Adele. How is Gotye doing?
  19. How much have the 2 albums sold? I thought the 2nd is less than 100K away from the first album? Both albums did take advantage of the Nov/Dec seasons but the 2nd one charted much higher so made more sales.
  20. Loca People was more a novelty dance record. "Elephant" sounds like a lazy rehash of a dozen Euro disco songs with a big fat diva wailing the vocals. I love THE BEAST mind you, but with a generic tune as this and typically no Radio 1 support, she'll need a miracle to have a big hit. I suspect 1 week in the lower top ten.
  21. Plus it's a bit too Euro-dancey and the song seems so anonymous, sounds like any random song that you'd hear on a dance show on Radio.
  22. It's not a bad song, infact very catchy but I don't see it having mainstream appeal because it sounds so 90s.
  23. Adele as usual hitting #1 on iTunes before airplay reaches the top 10.... hopefully in the next 2 weeks she gets to #1?
  24. But it always amazes me how a country of 60mil+ has such shockingly low sales!
  25. SFTTR jumps 4 to #4 on the BB100 whilst the album remains at #1 selling 120K copies.
