  1. "Set fire to the rain" flies up 8 places to #13 on the BB100 this week. So a top ten placing looks fairly secured at this point. Hopefully a top 5 come Grammy time with an eventual "1 week at #1" after the event. Would be massive if she performed, I just don't know that her vocals are upto it yet (not to mention, doctor's clearance).
  2. Will be nice to see Prof Green go up the chart!
  3. The woman just sold nearly 250K copies of "21" this week. Wow! She could top the 6mil mark before the Grammys at this rate.
  4. That's a good gain for SFTTR. It's amazing how she's managing to get so much of airplay with such less promotion and no over exposure as well.
  5. I'll be interested to see if this song outpeaks the #11 UK chart position. If it's still got momentum going into the Grammys, a top 5 is guaranteed.
  6. Surprised to see Cher Lloyd on the ARIA charts! So that's 2 UK-TXF finalists then... wonder when Rebecca will plug in her stuff there. Other than that, the charts were as predicted. It seems any intl band that tours Australia is guaranteed major chart jumps. Sad about Ed Sheeran falling down the album charts.
  7. Interesting, I'll check that out. I do agree that AI's effect on the Billboard chart is nothing compared to TXF's effect on the UK chart...but TXF-US seems to have even a lesser impact on the Billboard charts than AI did! I know TXF-US has been renewed for a 2nd season but I'm curious to see how it will go. It's hardly caused the ripple that Cowell was hoping for. Ironically, even for a so-called "flop" series in the UK this year, the UK ratings are still higher than the US ones!
  8. Only 6 British artists!!
  9. So do we think Adele's "Fire" will peak around the Grammys' time? Having another #1 single and "21" back at #1 will be amazing!
  10. This might be a miseducated post, but typically songs seem to rocket up (well not as much as before) the UK chart after an X-F performance. But is X Factor helping artists in the US? Kelly Clarkson performed Stronger 2 weeks ago and that dind't make much of a ripple, Tinie Tempah performed "Pass out" last week and it's NOT even on the US iTunes 200! Surprising considering I still see old songs like Taio's Dynamite in there! Even though 10mil+ are tuning in for the show, looks like its impact so far is a LOT lesser to artists than American Idol's.
  11. Can we expect bigger rises for Adele with "Set fire"?
  12. And I know I've said this a million times already and been offered an explanation, but I still can't believe how unrepresentative the Oz iTunes album charts are of the official ARIA ones! Probably because I'm so used to the UK and US iTunes album charts.
  13. I haven't heard Reece's winner song but his duet with Kylie was awful.
  14. A bit disappointed by Ed Sheeran's fall on the album chart... I was thinking "+" would outpeak #8.
  15. Can we expect Ed Sheeran to top the ARIA chart next week as he's been #1 on iTunes since TXF performance? also hopefully "+" enters the Top 5. "A team" has already peaked better in Oz than it did in the UK!
  16. Will that Maroon 5 song spend an eternity in the BB100?! I tihnk Adele's SLY will lose airplay faster than MLJ eventually.
  17. I wonder if, given 1D's Aus success, Cowell will push for them to appear on US-TXF as well?
  18. Although it has been a while since we 've had a 5 piece all white boyband... the UK's only given 4 piece mixed race boybands thus far!
  19. I'm surprised that this band has caught on so well internationally. This is the kind of international chart success JLS would kill for!
  20. I like the song too. I'm surprised as a UK "pop" act hasn't really broken it in Australia in a while. I'm not talking about international stars like Adele or Coldplay, but the teenage acts that make pure pop songs. So it's good that 1D have broken the charts. Hopefully an X Factor perf or some sort will nail a top 3 for them. I also suspect Ed Sheeran will climb both the albums and singles chart this week.
  21. how come they've broken the Australian market? Have they been doing a lot of promo?
  22. Interesting, thanks. Yeah the singles' chart seem to mirror the iTunes chart quite well.
  23. Are the iTunes charts not very indicative of the overall album charts in Australia then (unlike the US and UK where they seem to run close). Ed Sheeran "+" has been top 5 all week on iTunes but 'only' managed #21 on the album charts.

She's never been a first week big opener has she... although she perhaps could regain #1 if she does the X Factor finals again. I say about 150K or so, but beaten by 1D.
  25. SuBo's also promoting heavily in Australia this week appearing on both X Factor and the DWTS (or SYTYCD, whatever...the dancing show) this week so she might have a mighty debut on the ARIA charts next week. Can we see a top 4 album charts with Brits?
