  1. Tbh even without another hit single ICYDK is gonna outsell OM. I heard Greg James say Oh my goodness was the 3rd single when he played it on his show. There's been no more about it though so it's unconfirmed.
  2. Least convincing gay couple of all time finally at an end. The wrong one left though, Sophie is annoying.
  3. Paradise going number 1 won't exactly be a win for alternative music considering it's mainstream Coldplay's most poppy song yet, better than an XF number 1 though. Incidentally, I doubt the two members of the band who were tentative about going on XF will be quite so hesitant next time. It's done wonders for both their album and single sales.
  4. Fair enough, I'm not an Alexandra fan. I only remember it because I was horrified at it going number 1 actually so detract from the achievements of the song all you want!
  5. Good singles week for Olly. Dance with me tonight is doing very well, it's at number 2 combined and Heart skips a beat is on the verge of the top 10 combined. This is the Itunes voucher effect? Wonder what place they'll chart, will he get two songs in the top 10?
  6. As if! Beat again is alot better. DYFWIF is rubbish and the sample from the cheesy song in Gremlins is cringeworthy. I'm glad it's flopping, maybe now they'll stop doing what they did with The Club is alive, incorporating strange samples. 3D would have been a decent hit for them, they should have released that. Maybe you're a Bucks Fizz fan, it's a rip off of The land of make believe... g8fjeG5oCGQ
  7. Nah the Irish charts are a different kettle of fish. Yeah.
  8. Good to see Murs has two songs in the top 20. Apart from Rihanna it looks like everyone else has struggled to get even two big charting hits this year. A number 1 for Cher definately gave her the illusion of success that Matt Cardle for instance could have done with for his public perception, job done really.
  9. Start Without You was Alexandra's 4th single off Overcome, that went number 1. Awful song as well so very impressive feat. Bad boys was 1, Broken heels 8, Start without you 4, then maybe there was a bad sales week because her worst single topped the chart.
  10. 150 Olly Murs feat. Rizzle Kicks - Heart Skips A Beat 140 Adele - Someone Like You 130 Example - Changed The Way You Kiss Me 120 Rihanna feat. Drake - What's My Name? 110 Dappy - No Regrets 100 Olly Murs - Dance With Me Tonight 90 Bruno Mars - Grenade 80 Jessie J feat. B.o.B - Price Tag 70 Bruno Mars - The Lazy Song 60 Pitbull feat. Ne-Yo, Afrojack & Nayer - Give Me Everything 50 Professor Green feat. Emeli Sandé - Read All About It 40 The Wanted - Glad You Came 30 Nero - Promises 20 Wretch 32 feat. Josh Kumra - Don't Go 10 Rihanna feat. Calvin Harris - We Found Love -10 Cher Lloyd - Swagger Jagger. Can I not give this -150? Dreadful song. Easily worst song of the year, nevermind number 1.

Watched it on Iplayer, pretty decent show tbf apart form The Vaccines although it is good to see indie represented. Surprised to see Stickle Bricks having their own performance as well as being on HSAB, someone else coulda had exposure. Adele's RAH performance was a good decision, SFTTR was a high point of her set. Reggie and Fearne are such a lacklustre duo, if they brought TOTP back again they'd need better than them. Olly Murs and Caroline Flack for example, a bit more fun.

Missed the first 15 minutes and the rest kind of past me by as I was zonked out after dinner. Oh well!
  13. Olly Murs. Good to see him winning the poll currently! Like Bruno Mars and Ed Sheeran as well.
  14. I know the Winehouse album has sold well but it's partly for charity and they are how should I put it, largely 'heaven' sales. It's basically a left overs album. Very strange nomination by the OP, I'm not surprised it's doing the worst, surprised even two people picked it tbh. Will Young, not heard it, it's probably decent but a strange choice when there were albums by Jessie J, Ed Sheeran and Olly Murs. The Bruno Mars album was actually released last year, bit of an ill conceived mess this thread really. Adele 1st Florence 2nd out of that lot. My albums of the year are: 1st Famous first words - Viva Brother 2nd In the morning - James Vincent McMorrow 3rd 21 - Adele 4th In case you didn't know - Olly Murs 5th Ceremonials - Florence & the machine

The only decent thing on this afternoon to save me from sheer boredom stuck with my extended family and it's on at friggin 2pm. Might not even be finished my Christmas pudding by then.

Tbh they should just leave Cowell and get rid of the three other judges and replace them with stars. Unfortunately it just matters how good your friendship is with Cowell so Sherzinger will most likely be the only one to go. Mariah Carey would be a good replacement on paper. Really??? What's the matter with you, he's awful. Dermot links everyone together seamlessly, Steve does the opposite.

What a mess of a final. Steve Jones was even worse than usual, he 100% won't be back next year. Josh was the best but his final performances were a bit lacklustre otherwise I reckon he woulda won. Why didn't he do Wild horses? Anyway, after a bright start UK X Factor was actually better in the end. Paula and Nicole must go with Steve, horribly pointless judges comments from them.
  18. Olly has went past 500k with his album this week, he might just miss out on the years top 10 sellers though.
  19. Sam & Mark had a number 1? Wow. Ainslie should of had a number 1 & a big career, loved that Keep me a secret song.
  20. I'm pretty sure there was a big show on at the same time as Westlife, was it the Strictly Come dancing final results or something?

The reality show one was the best as it actually made a coherent point but they were all powerful. It does make me take Brooker less seriously knowing that he's married to tv disaster and former X Factor employee Huq though, and he gave her a writing credit, a bit cringeworthy.

I thought this show had gave the game away a bit to early but it's not a one trick ponty like I initially thought. Very good indeed. Dunno how Clare Danes is gonna affect things from way out on the sidelines next season though, that should be interesting.
  23. For an X Factor winner? They don't do that well mate! It was clear that 1D would be massive. The shock has been Rebecca, she's made things worse for him. Matt hasn't released the more rocky album I expected of him, given all that stuff about how credible he wanted to be etc... I actually bought into that. I thought maybe we'd see a great indie/rock album from an X Factor contestant for once, especially after he signed with Columbia. I like it but it's not got much depth to it and it's very soft so I've got bored of it pretty quickly. Hey at least my mum likes it but that's not a good sign really.
  24. Yeah but you can read between the lines, most people are more savvy than to come out with blatant homophobia in this day and age. One of them says she stopped going to Westife concerts, some guy stopped idolising Mark, one doesn't think she can fancy him now, and two others wish he wasn't gay. I was only looking to see if people agreed with me about Mark having a great voice and that comes up in the first two pages! I don't know if some of it is homophobia, it's more just preference in some cases. It's easier to fantasize about people with less barriers in the way. It's interesting to note that directly after Mark came out, Westlife turned from a boyband into a manband by releasing You raise me up, going for a more mature audience. Do you think for instance tha Joe can aim his music at a young audience and be successful and what about Marcus, what type of demographic will he be aiming for? Perhaps Marcus can show Joe the way to make being a modern gay popstar work.
  25. Was just looking on Twitter and saw a few interesting comments after the Westlife special. Here are just some of them, horrifying stuff really... "I used to drag my mother to Westlife concerts until Mark came out as gay." "I remember scott used to say he was like Mark from westlife then he found out he was gay and denied he ever said it hahahah" "Didn't even realise mark from westlife was gay! I'm such a muppet!...i always quite liked him too! :L" "why did Mark (westlife) have to be gay? Why?!" "I use to love Mark from westlife and when I found out he was gay I cried hahaha" I don't think some young girls have the capacity to take a thing like the popstar they fancy being gay on board tbh, which is often why gay artists sell better to older audiences. Will Young and to bring it back on topic Joe being examples of that.
