Alexandra Burke feat. Erick Morillo - Elephant
"Okay.com" was the cringiest thing I've ever heard on X factor. I had a high opinion of her until she annoyed the hell out of me as a guest judge. Anyway as for her new music, I liked the dance single she did, if she continues in that vein then she'll sustain her success as dance tracks are ruling the roost atm. How many did her first album sell anyway?

Yeah I know, hence the wink to imply that it was a joke! Nevermind. You two are adorable.

iTunes Chart November (III)
He's ahead combined but does anyone think Olly's single version will overtake X Factor to get Itunes number 1? It would purely be symbolic of course as he's miles behind. Can someone knock them off next week, any new singles? Deep Blue Something - Breakfast at Tiffany's @ Number 96! In an ad or what?

Hmm maybe Girl Generation's songs don't translate that well in English! And anyway, I've never seen a sexy taxi! ;)

Joe McElderry - Classic + Classic Christmas
Oh. My. God. Does anybody have any idea why Joe has put weight on? Has he stopped running? I thought he did a half marathon not so long ago?

Joe McElderry - Classic + Classic Christmas
Does anyone know Joe's sales figures for Classic Christmas so far? ENOUGH. You must want a warning or something, you can't control yourself!

Joe McElderry - Classic + Classic Christmas
Jonmove, did you not get a PM from a mod? I stopped after that but you didn't so you have a funny way of 'moving on'. I don't want a warning as I've only been here 5 minutes. PM me if you want, I''m happy to indulge you but stop derailing threads. I won't be making any more comparisons between Olly and Joe as the mods don't like it, I suggest you do the same as for some reason you're the worst offender! Let's take Joe out from under Olly's shadow and just talk about him in this thread. Agreed?

No not the bottom 3... The one in the middle. The one to the right of her. And the one below her in the bottom right corner. Are you sure that's not the same member? We're gonna have to agree to disagree about Yoona!

Just listened to previews of it on Itunes, ghastly sacharine stuff, my grandma will be delighted with it!

Joe McElderry - Classic + Classic Christmas
Agreed Theo, blown out of proportion or what! jonmove and torresgirl (at least one of whom never even saw the show) really make me laugh the way they only see what they want to see. Olly is nice to everyone, as is Joe, there's no friction between them and no malice form either side, end of story. So let's draw a line under that and get back to discussing Joe... I read numerous interviews where he said he was excited about his new stuff and he had alot of say in the direction of the record. Never said Syco had a great track record and they didn't help, but Joe didn't know who he was as an artist and he still doesn't. He made a record that he liked and the public didn't agree with him. He didn't even cowrite ONE song! And it's up to the artist to put their foot down and tell the record company they don't want to start off with a cover. You talk like Joe is a puppet with no say. Oly is respected in the pop industry... He works with top songwriters, he's mates with some of the 'cooler' pop stars like Professor Green and Eliza Doolittle. And it makes me laugh how you imply that Olly is a puppet, when he has more say in his output than Joe has ever had or will ever have. Why is that not an issue for you with Joe? You clearly look for excuses to dislike Olly, I'm glad I don't do that with Joe, I maintain that McElderry is a nice lad. Anyway, I'm gonna listen to Joe's Classic Christmas and Classic records and see what I think! Might make a good present for my grandma.

Yeah I mean the songs not their outfits! She's not the prettiest, I mean I'm sure alot of Girls Aloud fans would vote for Nicola Roberts as the prettiest. It seems I was right about her having a big side project. Thanks, that's the one! I think they could benefit from having dinstinct hair colours, alot of them look pretty similar from the wide shots the cameras need to cram them all in! The members in the centre, to the right of her and bottom right of your signature look like triplets!

David Guetta - Nothing But The Beat
I always thought the ego had landed with this guy releasing under his name instead of producing behind the scenes as others do and having well known artists featuring. But tbf this is a top album. Sunshine, Turn me on, Titanium, I'm a machine, etc etc, really good.

According to Greg James Olly's 3rd single will be Oh my goodness. I need you now is quality though, could be the 4th.

Joe McElderry - Classic + Classic Christmas
"Hey @joemcelderry91 howzzz tour going buddy??? X love NEW Classic Christmas album mate!! Hope you & family well!! X" *AHEM* I wonder who made that tweet 3 hours ago? It seems Olly and Joe are performing at the same event tommorrow... Joe replied: "@ollyofficial heyy!!! Just came off stage last show in newcastle!!! Been amazing sad its over!!! Ahhh thankyou!! :) see u tomo xx" Real animosity between them, I can see the scenes of carnage now.

Joe McElderry - Classic + Classic Christmas
I'm continuing this from the other thread so it doesn't get closed... You really do think Olly is the devil don't you, how dare he be more successful than Joe! Saying Joe is probably at home watching 8 out of ten cats when Jimmy asked where he is now makes him a messed up person? He probably was! It's hardly an insult. Good grief. And stripping off is dirty tricks? Wowza! Joe decided the direction his music went in, he had enough promotion to be a success, X factor performance etcc. Not enough people didn't liked his music first time round, that was the main problem. I was just letting you know where Joe was in the chart, didn't know it was in the other thread. :) I don't hate Joe, I don't even dislike him, he's such a nice inoffensive guy. In fact I'm grateful to him for winning which allowed Olly to do a JLS. He deserved to win the X Factor but the real music world is a very different animal. I've stated many times already I'm happy that he's doing well now.

They're very Lady Gagesque aren't they. I do find it hard to distinguish between their vocals, must be alot of autotune going on and or maybe one of them just sings the whole thing. Something I've noticed about this lot is the worse looking ones are the ones who do most of the singing. And probably the most ordinary one was voted most popular, found that out in my fruitless attempt to find out what the fittest one was called. Maybe she's more relatable but she probably has a high profile sideline, alot of them do other stuff as well as the band as they've all been in some kind of fame school since they were kids. Who's the girl in the centre at the start of this performance? She's my favourite but she hardly does anything... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TflVSzQQcXs...&lf=mh_lolz

Olly Murs - In Case You Didn't Know // 2nd Album
'I need you now' is Olly's best song ever IMO. Should be 4th single as there'll be no pressure on the chart position then, should shift a few more albums, showing a different aspect to it. 'Oh my goodness' will be the next single according to Greg James. Top song, good ambassador for the album, but no real lyrical hook, think it could struggle in the charts.

Joe McElderry - Classic + Classic Christmas
No of course he doesn't have a god given right to number 1, but he was number 1 for most of the week til Friday, that's why he got so involved in it, he only expected top 5. He was saying that because so many of his fans were mentioning that he got number 2 that number 2 was trending on Twitter! He was reasuring them. Anyway some chart news you might be interested in... "This week’s market further throws the spotlight on the relative fortunes of Joe McElderry and Olly Murs since they finished in first and second places respectively on The X Factor 2009. While Murs’ new album should debut at number one this week, McElderry’s own brand new album, the UCJ-handled Classic Christmas, is down in 12th place." Don't worry, his sales should be good enough to keep him on his label, sales are still quite decent down in those places at this time of year. http://www.musicweek.com/story.asp?section...1047676&c=1

Very strange then.

Tinie - Disc-overy - 1.5m Sold?
Yeah I was bloody shocked and sceptical at that. He won't have sold 800k in the U.S either. Wonder if he's popular in Europe or they're counting singles sales?

I would definately have a go on this lot. I like that Mr Taxi performance where they wear yellow outfits. Bang tidy. Discovered them in the youtube top 100 chart, very popular aren't they.

Joe McElderry - Classic + Classic Christmas
Olly didn't say anything bad and I saw no abuse but I guess you must follow alot of highly strung Joe fans who think Olly can control what the most controversial comic in Britain Jimmy Carr says. Joe is constantly brought up in Olly interviews and he sticks up for him every time. You can't count Joe in the albums thing, he's bringing a new one out every 5 minutes now, it takes longer to release your own stuff. Yes he was wrong about it though cos Shane Ward did do at least 3 and a couple sold well. Thanks for that info, funnily enough I'm following that Mark guy anyway so I'll check that interview out. Cover albums... you pick popular songs and you sing them, it's that simple. When you're selling to grannies you don't even put your own spin on the songs you just sing them how they're used to hearing them or they won't like it. Joe can sing the songs on Classic in a few takes, he did most live on tv, so it's not exactly hard work is it. I mean compare how long it takes to simply record vocals to writing your own songs from scratch. I tell you what, the charts would be pretty boring if everyone just covered the same songs over and over instead of releasing original songs! Btw people do remember number 1 songs. Why would Olly be singing classical, he'd never want to as he'd rather sing stuff he's into! Did Joe even know any opera songs before he went on the show? Olly knows pop is where his strength lies, he's very self aware and that's stood him in good stead, not trying to be anything he's not and knowing who he is as an artist. In contrast Joe is still singing The Cimb at the end of gigs, a song most find cringeworthy and reckon was the beginning of the end for his pop career, that's exactly the kind of lack of self awareness that saw him flop first time round. Ok he was badly handled promotion wise but he steered the musical direction based on his personal taste.

Joe McElderry - Classic + Classic Christmas
Cheryl Cole will still sell well when she returns tbh, she's by no means finished, I don't think they're really comparable apart from being helped by a tv show, she had alot more exposure than Olly anyway. Besides Olly will always have the annual X Factor performance, should tide him over. I didn't see that interview, who was that with? The thing is, contrary to what some people think, Olly has something of an inferiority complex and he sets low targets. The last one I heard him set was a couple more arena tours after this one, which he'll easily get, that's what keeps him humble I suppose. But he's going to have a better career than he thinks. I do think Olly beng involved with music programmes would stand him in good stead though. If TOTP came back for example that'd be perfect for him to maintain his profile. He's definately thinking of his music first from what I've heard from him in his interviews, I think he has alot left in the tank yet. Yes I just saw that got played on radio 1, quite a coup for him, I was shocked tbh! Universal's radio pluggers doing their thing, their artists seem well looked after. As for credit, Joe deserved credit for having the balls to put himself through another reality show. It's easy to sing covers though, you can churn out album after album with little effort. I'm sure you'd rather he came out with original material. It was opportunism from the record company although very shrewd. He's definately turned it around from a sales perspective which is the most important factor, selling more than the likes of the hyped Cher, but his public perception is gonna need a lot of work. Did you see 8 out of 10 cats the other week? Slagged off on that. And he was basically ignored in favour of Olly on Live at the Apollo. He's a nice guy, he doesn't deserve bad treatment.
