I hope he works with some different (and more renowned) writers on his next record cos I think he's capable of more. Claude Kelly (genius) & Steve Robson have cowritten Dance With Me Tonight, Please Don't Let Me Go and a quite a few other good songs with him so they should continue that relationship. But he's well capable of producing a record full of hits if he works with more great writers. Crap like On My Cloud shouldn't be getting anywhere near the album.

I see Buble has overtaken Olly on Itunes, how damaging is that to Olly's chances of number 1? Too little, too late for Buble this week or can he still do it?

HOMS was a load of crap and Busy had no promotion. But mainly all his fanbase had the album. I can't see DWMT getting anywhere near HSAB which has sold well over 400,000 copies.

"Okay.com" was the cringiest thing I've ever heard on X factor. I had a high opinion of her until she annoyed the hell out of me as a guest judge. Anyway as for her new music, I liked the dance single she did, if she continues in that vein then she'll sustain her success as dance tracks are ruling the roost atm. How many did her first album sell anyway?

A 19k lead at this stage doesn't seem insurmountable but for all we know Olly could be increasing his lead day by day? Buble keeps an eye on the charts so he'll be watching this chart battle... He once randomly went up to Olly in Barbados and started congratulating him on being number 2 in the chart. What a nice guy. His sales are always good, I wonder if Buble sells more here than in anywhere else in the world? Agreed. Two nice guys who deserve success. :)

Agreed Theo, blown out of proportion or what! jonmove and torresgirl (at least one of whom never even saw the show) really make me laugh the way they only see what they want to see. Olly is nice to everyone, as is Joe, there's no friction between them and no malice form either side, end of story. So let's draw a line under that and get back to discussing Joe... I read numerous interviews where he said he was excited about his new stuff and he had alot of say in the direction of the record. Never said Syco had a great track record and they didn't help, but Joe didn't know who he was as an artist and he still doesn't. He made a record that he liked and the public didn't agree with him. He didn't even cowrite ONE song! And it's up to the artist to put their foot down and tell the record company they don't want to start off with a cover. You talk like Joe is a puppet with no say. Oly is respected in the pop industry... He works with top songwriters, he's mates with some of the 'cooler' pop stars like Professor Green and Eliza Doolittle. And it makes me laugh how you imply that Olly is a puppet, when he has more say in his output than Joe has ever had or will ever have. Why is that not an issue for you with Joe? You clearly look for excuses to dislike Olly, I'm glad I don't do that with Joe, I maintain that McElderry is a nice lad. Anyway, I'm gonna listen to Joe's Classic Christmas and Classic records and see what I think! Might make a good present for my grandma.

I always thought the ego had landed with this guy releasing under his name instead of producing behind the scenes as others do and having well known artists featuring. But tbf this is a top album. Sunshine, Turn me on, Titanium, I'm a machine, etc etc, really good.

Nicole is just a less successful version of Kelly, and she's a useless judge. Personally I'd bin both. Although we don't know what kind of stuff Tulisa will come out with so we don't know how similar they're gonna be, Tulisa seems pretty enamoured with her mate Jessie J and I can see her going down the same route. At any rate she'll be after the same fans. I'm not saying she couldn't be successful as it depends on the songs and she can sing but do we need her as well? Jessie J has the market pretty cornered tbh. As for Cheryl I thought the Will.I.Am songs on her debut were the worst, he's become a really lazy producer with crap like Dirty bit, so don't hold your breath for anything decent out of that partnership. I liked Fight for this love and Parachutes though, more of that would ensure her success.

I thought Kelly would do better but did anyone really think N Dubz greatest hits would do well? I've not seen it receive any promotion and in any case they're crap. I thought it'd be a matter of time until Tulisa does a Cheryl but after The Collective bombing with her on lead vocal she might not even be a success you know. I still think she'll have a crack at it but with Jessie J, do we really need Tulisa? Dunno if there's a gap in the market for her to squeeze into. If Cheryl brings out new stuff she's gonna struggle even more. Britain clearly haven't taken to Kelly enough as a solo personality. She could have done with a better single to launch the album though, so many singles on there as well but I guess everyone who wants them has them as they've all been released ages ago. I can see her replacing Nicole on US X Factor where she'll probably connect more.

I'm continuing this from the other thread so it doesn't get closed... You really do think Olly is the devil don't you, how dare he be more successful than Joe! Saying Joe is probably at home watching 8 out of ten cats when Jimmy asked where he is now makes him a messed up person? He probably was! It's hardly an insult. Good grief. And stripping off is dirty tricks? Wowza! :lol: Joe decided the direction his music went in, he had enough promotion to be a success, X factor performance etcc. Not enough people didn't liked his music first time round, that was the main problem. I was just letting you know where Joe was in the chart, didn't know it was in the other thread. :) I don't hate Joe, I don't even dislike him, he's such a nice inoffensive guy. In fact I'm grateful to him for winning which allowed Olly to do a JLS. He deserved to win the X Factor but the real music world is a very different animal. I've stated many times already I'm happy that he's doing well now.

Bre how do you know Buble is increasing and how far behind Olly is he? Are there any live itunes album popularity charts to keep track of this battle?

Yeah Joe is doing fine, sales are high in those positions atm. I saw a long ad for his album primetime ITV on Sunday night though, not cheap. Dunno, Olly's album isn't exactly gonna drop from the face of the earth judging by his consistent sales last year and Buble will probably only increase, when's his tv special?
