You've lost me here, surely if you can't afford to live alone then by default you'll be living with someone else (more than likely at home with parents) and therefore have a human connection? Or am I completely reading this wrong?
  2. Just been reading about that! :o
  3. What are the chart rules regarding streaming again? Is it still limited to like 10 streams? I do listen to Sweet Melody multiple times a day just out of not being arsed to search songs when I'm on my Sonos so just put it on (same with "All Fired Up") and wondered if there was a point where it won't make a difference?

I've quit my masters degree because of the standard of the online teaching, it's as if the lecturers have never used a computer before.

I'm crossing my fingers as I've read reports that Police Scotland have said they would patrol borders as a last resort.

I totally understand where you're coming from and tbh applaud you for not backing down from your decision. I've not seen my sister since my birthday in March and the fact a new lockdown, which is going to be coming regardless of if everyone or no-one breaks the rules this Christmas, will push it over a year before I can see her, it's going to be too much for me. My relationship with Camden is strained as well with us both working from home and being in a confined space in each other's presence constantly, we need our own time and can't seem to get it. My mam and dad still want to see me at Christmas, it's their decision to put themselves at risk and like you said I don't want to be the one to force them to do something they don't want to do. They are adults and can live with their own consequences, much like I can. Ah that makes more sense for your post Chez, we had a Zoom Christmas party last night (I think with pubs being closed in Tiers 2 and 3 it would have been hard for them to happen anyway. But I've still seen people talking as if they have every man and their dog, neighbours, long lost cousins etc. round their house on Christmas and I just didn't think that actually happened. I also don't understand why Schools are STILL not being closed, let alone having school Christmas parties.

Exactly, if they had "cancelled" Christmas weeks ago it wouldn't have been so much of an issue. As it stands I'm still going to go to my sister's on Christmas Eve night and come home Boxing Day morning. None of us have left the house in weeks so we can meet up without the threat of passing the virus on, and we're not going to be leaving the house whilst we're there anyway. And besides, I doubt they are going to have people on the Scottish/English border at Coldstream waiting for people to pass through. Also, I've seen this quite a bit on social media and Chez's post just reminded me, why is everyone talking about "scaling down" big Christmas parties? Are they even a thing? I don't know anyone who doesn't just have like 6-8 people max which is near enough what the three bubbles were anyway?

I guess in my opinion it should have been either everyone can mix or no-one can mix over Christmas.

Yeah I get you, just another thing to have to think about. Honestly it's depressing.

Not sure if this has any bearing on it, but the most common family "size" is with two children (well according to Statista it was the most common in 2019). Now say that by their early 20s, maybe both children have since left home, that would automatically make that now a "three household" bubble if both children were then to meet with their parents over Christmas. If that IS the most common "family size" then three households would make sense. And not sure who would want to tell them "it's either none of you meeting up, or one of you is going to have to miss out" at a time were maybe they haven't seen each other since March. I know I'm very grateful that three households are allowed to bubble, so that I can see both my sister (who I've not seen since our birthday in March) and my parents.
  12. I don't know why but I get first elimination vibes from Rose.

The vast majority of the criticism I believe was aimed by the right-wing at Abby and how "woke" and "PC" the game was is trying to be.

Is that definitely right? I read this on the Scottish Gov website yesterday. And to be honest I've always expected the entire four countries, regardless of what tier anyone is in, to not let bubbles mix in pubs and restaurants in this 5 day "let off".

My parents are hoping because we're in Scotland for Christmas this year at my sister's (right on the border - Coldstream), that we can go to the pub. No matter how many times I tell them that won't be happening she still insists.
  16. I am living for the early Christmas invasion. Scrooges be gone! :cheer:

Completely agree. I don't ever remember a time when we didn't do Christmas activities in the last week of term. Why the kids are still at school when the evidence was there that the spike was at the beginning of September. There was no spike when the pubs and restaurants opened and they are the ones that are really going to come out of this the worst, all because the Government wanted people to stop home-schooling and going back to work so they could buy their £6 Pret sandwiches.
  18. Ashnikko please. ^_^
  19. When the price of electric vehicles come down then I may be tempted, but at the minute...no.

My parents were still going to the pub during the first lockdown (our horse field backs on to the beer garden of a pub so they sat in there and had pints when it was closed at the front lol)

My parents are the same, honestly the last 10 years I’ve no idea what has happened to them. In 2010 both were active paying members of the Lib Dems and voted for Nick Clegg. Fast forward to 2020 and they are avid right-wing Brexiteers and conspiracy theorists who hate the left and idolise Donald Trump and Nigel Farage.
  22. Surprised no one has mentioned about Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney buying Wrexham AFC!
  23. I sometimes listen to Christmas songs in the summer.
  24. What are Mariah's chances this year? Are they better/worse than last year?
  25. I'll try and make it again, really enjoyed last week!
