Not excited for the first day of the season at all really. Matches at Anfield are usually non-events, although it's nice to finally get the season underway again. The season starts properly on the 20th, buzzing for this season's derbies.

Bit harsh. He couldn't do much for the first goal, United's defence was far too deep so he couldn't have came out for it, but yeah he didn't cover himself in glory for City's second. A keeper shouldn't be getting beaten from that sort of distance, especially when the shot is straight down the middle. I think he'll be fine.

That and the fact the injuries have stated to creep in already, prime example would be John O'Shea: Mr Reliable for Manchester United, he comes here and is crocked within three weeks. Couldn't happen to anybody else but us. Bruce must have them training with breeze blocks, we've had an inexplicable amount of injuries since he took over as manager.

We're being linked with Bellamy. Would have taken him a few seasons ago, but he's not the player he once was. Just seems like it would be a waste of wages to me but hey ho. Steed off to France, Nosworthy and McCartney rumoured to be leaving. Will be good to get shot of them, would free up an unreal amount of wages. Sky reckons we're after Sean Wright-Phillips, the fun just never ends at Sunderland AFC.

To be fair they've brought in a bunch of young foreign players who will have no idea what will have hit them when they walk out at the SoL in a few weeks. How dare you be so positive about our transfers, those sorts of appreciative comments are not welcome in this thread. Anyway, Wickham deal confirmed and it's a four-year deal. The fee is £8m, which could rise to £12m. Craig Gardner's due here later this afternoon for talks, i'd be surprised if it didn't happen tbh.

He'll be injured for the start of the season but there's rumours he could be headed off. Apparently Westwood's going to start the season as first choice keeper ahead of Mignolet, very harsh on Mig if that's true, didn't do an awful lot wrong last season.

Westwood and Larsson confirmed deals, both players will sign on July 1st.
