We struggled today against Liverpool's new 4-3-3-3 formation; http://i51.tinypic.com/j7dop5.png Not going to moan about the scoreline, we were sht from start to finish. But I did make two observations; 1. If Andy Carroll is worth £35m, i'm worth at least £60m. He was absolutely woeful. And i'm glad. 2. "King" Kenny has apparently turned Liverpool into Blackburn/Stoke? They spent the majority of the match hoofing the ball up to the front men and playing the sort of long-ball stuff Allardyce had Bolton playing a few seasons ago. Yeah, great. Meh, today more or less confirmed that this season is a total write-off. We're not going to finish higher than 8th, we're out of the cups so it's a nothing season of midtable mediocrity for us. Someone remind me again why I want to renew my season ticket?

Newcastle, Stoke and West Ham olol In seriousness I don't really care, as a Sunderland supporter it's nice not being mentioned in the same sentence as the words "relegation battle", but we're going to have a big say in it. Our final 7 fixtures of the season: West Brom (Home), Birmingham (Away), Wigan (Home), Fulham (Home), Bolton (Away), Wolves (Home), West Ham (Away)

    Quoted for irony.

Mignolet's done well in the games he's played, given his age and the fact this is his first season in the Premier League. Looks like he's going to develop into a very good keeper.

Liverpool - Man Utd game was the 2nd best game of the day, the Wolves v Spurs match was unreal. And also, the Championship is great so long as your team isn't in it. Very open and very unpredictable league, i'm glad we've stayed out of it. I'd also like to say a big LOL to some of the Arsenal fans and Wenger about the result on Saturday, some of them are very, very bitter about it. Yes, the linesman had a mare with Arshavin's goal and they should have had a penalty but I think it's disrespectful to Sunderland to take anything away from what was probably our best defensive performance of the season so far. Very pleased with how we dealt with Arsenal yesterday, and we were well worth a point imo.

Yeah, I saw that. I've also had a good LOL at the Arsenal fans on another forum having a whinge saying Phil Dowd threw away their 4-0 lead  Mind, I did read that Dowd has reffereed Arsenal four times this season, given four pens against them and dismissed two Arsenal players. In the other 17 games he's been in charge of he's given just three penalties and sent off five players. So needless to say he's not the most popular of refs with the Arsenal fans

What a bizarre weekend it's been.. 45 goals and some unbelievable matches. I'm typing this through gritted teeth but fair play to Newcastle for coming back from 4-0 down against Arsenal, has to be the greatest comeback since the inception of the Premier League. It showed why Newcastle (Unfortunately) won't go down and why Arsenal won't be winning the title without some serious investment into the squad. Everton v Blackpool, Wigan v Blackburn, loads of thrillers, Villa and Fulham were unlucky to be on near the end of MOTD, any other week they'd have been right near the front  What are the odds every match next weekend will be 0-0 or 1-0? lolz

Something needs to be done about the refereeing in this league because it's utterly atrocious. For a league of this calibre and considering the amount of exposure it gets I find it shocking that I can say I wouldn't trust a single top flight ref to organise a piss-up in a brewery, especially when there's so much riding on results. If you performed as ineptly in your job as some of the referees and officials in this league do you'd be handed your P45 and kicked out on your arse faster than you can say 'Uriah Rennie', and yet week after week the refs are sub-standard and make such stupid decisions yet nothing gets done about it. Sick of it. Had Hopeless Halsey & assistant ref John Terry against Chelsea, then Anal Probert and the chuckle brothers today, buckling under the slightest bit of noise from the crowd and failing to spot the one hundred and five things wrong with all of Stoke's goals. I honestly dread to think who's going to be reffing us against Spurs as none of them are good enough, not a single one.

I hate Chelsea. And especially John Terry the moronic homewrecking cockney prick.
  10. I think you're being harsh on Adam. He's a key player for Blackpool, he makes them tick and unlike Carroll he actually has footballing talent. It's still a risk of course, for him to go to the likes of Man Utd or Spurs but if you asked me who has more chance of success out of Carroll at Liverpool and Adam at Spurs i'd say Adam. Hands down. Another thing you've got to consider with Carroll is that Newcastle were playing a very direct style of football with him in the team, hoofing balls up to the front men which suited him down to the ground. I can't see Dalglish playing that sort of tepid, long-ball rubbish but who knows. Meh, it's Liverpool's money at the end of the day, they're free to waste it as they see fit. Like I said earlier, none of this even affects me in the slightest, I just think it's hilarious that a player like Carroll can be sold for such an amount of money when players with ten times the capability have gone for less. Football really has gone mad.
  11. £35m on somebody who's done nothing in the Prem and had a decent season in the Championship is stupidity. The fact he's nothing more than an average-at-best head on a stick just makes the fee more baffling. It's all very Man City-esque. I just think Liverpool could have spent the money so much more wisely on somebody better than Carroll, even if a physical thug was the sort of player they were going for. I heard Ricardo Fuller was available olol.
  12. HAHA. Odds on Pardew saying he "tried to keep him there but was forced to sell him"? Evens. Ah well, I for one have quite enjoyed this transfer window and the stupidity of teams like Liverpool. It's made me realise that being a Sunderland supporter isn't so bad after all ^_^
  13. Newcastle trying to bring back Charlie Inzomnia, been rejected due to lack of time. Spurs fail in attempt to sign Charlie Adam from Blackpool. Wigan sign Connor Sammon from Kilmarnock on 3 1/2 year deal.
  14. Not far from Herrington at all, about 20 minutes by bike as I discovered yesterday
  15. I'm young, English and I can head a ball, does that make me worth more than £30m? No. I also didn't say he doesn't have potential, I just don't think he has "huge" potential. He's done nothing so far that makes me think he'll be a massive hit in the Premier League, or the future of the national game, I just think he's totally overrated and Liverpool are wasting money on a player who I wouldn't even class as mediocre. Not being biased, I just do not rate the lad one bit. You're in Washington, right? I'm on the outskirts of the centre of Sunderland, not too far from Penshaw.
  16. Huge potential? He's an overrated thug who can just about head a ball and that's the full extent of his talents. He's done absolutely nothing to warrant being worth £35m. He's not proved anything this season in the Prem, and had decent season in the Championship (But then so did Daryl Murphy, Chris Iwelumo, David Nugent etc etc). Total waste of money. Adam is a decent signing though.
  17. Carroll puts in a transfer request. So much for him wanting to finish his career at Newcastle "just like Sheeeeera". What a tit
  18. Back in the wonderful world of Sunderland we've let Reid go to Blackpool (Possibly paving the way for Charlie Adam's departure, even though Reid's nowhere near as good), and Paulo Da Silva's gone to Zaragoza. I like Da Silva but he's got all the speed and manouvrability of the Titanic, just not cut out for the Prem. Best of luck to them both. Bruce has confirmed we're not getting anybody else in, can't blame him being put off by some of the ludicrous fees being paid out for painfully average players *cough*Carroll*cough*. This has to have been the most senseless, over-inflated transfer window since the January transfer window was introduced.
  19. Liverpool's new owners clearly have more money than sense, then. Even if Carroll wasn't a vile Geordie thug I wouldn't want him anywhere near my team unless I supported the likes of Stoke or Blackburn who play that sort of shit, long-ball rubbish which suits him.
  20. York signed anyone yet, Roo? And also LMFAO @ £30m for a big, lanky, thuggish fucking head on a stick. If anybody is stupid enough to pay that for Andy Carroll they need shooting.
  21. I just wish these deals would be sorted out and done swiftly and without any messing about. Torres isn't going to leave in this window, so this whole saga will drag on and on and on and tbh i'm already sick of hearing about it. Mehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, speaking of deals which have dragged on we've signed Muntari on loan and Sessegnon for £7m.
  22. Wouldn't mind Rodallega here in honesty but Bruce has said he's not in the market for another striker currently. Pleasing in the sense we won't be fleeced by clubs and end up paying over-the-odds for players who probably won't justify their price tags but on the flip side of things we're going into a run of games against Chelsea, Stoke, Spurs and Everton with only one fit striker, which is a huge risk to take. It looks likely we'll be getting Sessegnon (£6m) and Muntari (Loan) in before the window closes, two good signings methinks. Not the sort of players we'd have been able to get in a couple of seasons ago.
  23. No, not particularly. People still haven't warmed to Bruce because of his Geordie roots, even after a year and a half in charge and having lead us to our highest Premier League finish since 2001 (And looking like we might finish higher than that this season), and attracted players that we could have only dreamed about buying with McCarthy/Wilkinson/Keane/Sbragia in charge.
  24. Owen's also old, way past his best and can't keep fit. Not needed. And if we get Suarez here i'll streak through the city during rush hour. Clearly not going to happen.
  25. Are you mental? The club would go into meltdown if we got rid of Bent and replaced him with Owen. In fact i'd personally piggyback Bruce out of the club. Owen's well passed it and he's a crock. I'm absolutely gutted that he's handed in a request, I don't care about the money he's scored 32 goals in 58 games for us which for an unfashionable team is unheard of. I really hope Bruce has somebody lined up to replace him, Gyan's hit and miss, Welbeck looks a prospect but is still very young and i'm not sure United would let us have him, and Campbell is out for another month or so.
