MGMT - Congratulations
I like Flash Delirium, prefer Congratulations tbh but i'm probably alone on that one. Either way, I need to give both a few more listens. I actually liked their last album so i'd have been looking forward to this one anyway.

And so did we. At long last. Sky & co will be gutted, they'll have nothing about us to rip to pieces this week because we played well and deserved the win. Shame.

Yeah, 5 wins and 6 draws in 20 league games isn't a particularly impressive record. Seems to be taking you backwards  Just means there's one less relegation spot for someone to occupy. Our saving grace is that Portsmouth and Burnley look dead certs to finish 20th and 19th, and I can't see us finishing below Hull or Wolves (Or even Bolton, really). It's still been a massively shit season. I just think it's for the benefit of everyone if the FA call it to an end now.

We lost again, not a huge surprise really. It's starting to get monotonous and it's getting to the stage where i'm beginning not to care. And everyone's to blame. Everyone. The players clearly don't care and performances have been utter wank since our last win (3 months to the day as of tomorrow). They're not concentrating, bar a selected few they're not performing, they're not fucking learning from the same stupid, basic mistakes they're making week in/week out, it's shit. Really, really shit. Bruce clearly can't motivate them, constantly banging on about the referees and trying to use that (And injuries) as an excuse when really the finger should be being pointed at himself and the players. Yes, injuries have played their part but even with most of the squad fit there's been times when we've been absolutely fucking shocking, and Bruce is partly to blame. His tactics at times are highly negative and it's like watching us under Sbragia all over again (Defending a 1-0 lead for 85 minutes has never, and will never, ever work for us. Ever), and some of his decisions and substitutions are baffling. Prime example, Portsmouth at home. Portsmouth are getting a fair few corners, so he takes off Jones (Our main defence against corners) and brings on Bardsley. And plays him on the right wing. What's that about? Terrible management. Some of our fans are tossers as well. No the wonder we've been struggling at home when 90% of the ground would rather sit and boo or abuse the players during the match. The only thing I can be positive about is that some of our remaining fixtures are winnable (In theory, at least). No doubt we'll find a fun and imaginative way to royally piss things up though and drop yet more points. Fulham at home, Bolton at home, Birmingham at home, West Ham away, Burnley at home, Hull away, Wolves away - i'd honestly be stunned if we won even 3 of those fixtures. We're also lucky that Portsmouth look to occupy the bottom of the table for the remainder of the season so realistically there's only 2 relegation places left. I really just want this season over, I don't care where we end up I just want it out of the way. Complete and utter shit after yet another false dawn.

He underwhelms more often than he impresses. He has one good game for every dozen average/poor ones. He has the potential to be a top class forward and yet underachieves by not putting in the graft. To be honest it sounds like he'd fit right in at Liverpool.

Not sure why everyone wanks themselves silly over Jones, he flatters to decieve more often than not. If he does end up at Liverpool on loan, you'll see what I mean. Bruce must have someone coming in if Jones is being allowed out on loan. There's murmurs that we've had a bid accepted for Cabanas but nothing concrete yet.

Our squad is tiny (26 registered first team players, 1 of which is on loan and 2 others are under 18) and it's now costing us because of injuries/suspensions etc. Tainio and a few youngsters were allowed to go out on loan, we've sold Whitehead, Anderson, Edwards, Collins, Leadbitter, McShane and Connolly and ended the loans of Cissé, Ben Haim and Davenport. Yorke retired in the summer as well. We need to bring in players during this window badly otherwise we'll end up getting well and truly dragged into the relegation scrap.

Stopping caring about the Chelsea match when we went 2-0 down within quarter of an hour. Same old Sunderland. Avoiding it all with a FM session. I think our main problem is that i'm not the manager. My 2nd string Southampton team have just humiliated Rapid Wein at St Mary's 7-0 haha

Chelsea haven't spent any money because of the embargo, they're still top. Most of their team is now either approaching 30 or already past it, and yet they're grinding out results and picking up points where Liverpool are dropping them. Arsenal haven't spent much either (Vermaelen was their most expensive buy this summer iirc) and they're still up there so to me the 'low budget' excuse doesn't really wash. I'm not denying the owners need to go but why is it other managers seem to be able to continue to pick up points without spending a fortune and when they've got aging players or even when key players are missing and yet Rafa can't?

I still think Rafa needs to go tbh, otherwise nothing will improve. Regardless of what's going on behind the scenes it's up to him to motivate and organise the players and get results on the pitch and it just isn't happening. I mean, things with the board room were the same last season and he managed to get you up to 2nd in the league, so why not this season? I just think a change of manager will bring a fresh approach and possibly turn your fortunes a bit. It can't be easy for Rafa with all this shit going on but at the same time imo he needs to shoulder part of the blame for what can best be described as a waste of a season.

Aren't you from York, Roo? Very surprised to see Liverpool go out of another competition, especially to a team struggling to keep their heads above water in the Championship. The season's been nothing but a complete and utter disaster for Liverpool, it just seems to go from bad to worse for them. It's too late to save their season now, but wholesale changes need to be made, (starting at the very top) if Liverpool want to save themselves from having a repeat of this campaign. If Rafa's still manager come August i'll be shocked.

Hoping our game against Bolton on Saturday gets called off for a few reasons; 1) They'll have a new manager, and it would be just our luck that it's the game against us when he manages to get them winning again. 2) We have no recognised first team full backs. 3) I really can't be arsed to go and watch us get beat off Bolton in the p***ing snow while my balls turn to prunes. LET IT SNOW.

Said it before, and i'll say it again; given the choice between Barrow at home or Chelsea away i'd take Barrow any day of the week. I'm sorry Roo but with Bruce picking the strongest side available, nothing but a win was expected. We didn't play outstandingly but we put away our chances. The difference? Quality. There have been a few teams below par this season Roo, the difference being they're picking up points and not dropping them. After the Liverpool match I was saying to a Liverpool fan that you're very poor without Torres and Gerrard and he fully agreed. Hardened Liverpool fan, season ticket holder, made the trip to the Stadium of Light and he couldn't argue that you struggle without them both. As i've said, I actually don't mind Liverpool and I wanted you to be in the title shake-up this season to break up the monotony of a Man Utd/Chelsea two-horse race but clearly you've already dropped too many points. You have a good squad but the players you've got are not good enough to replace world-class players like Gerrard and Torres and that's why you're falling short. As for the ITV coverage, it's an absolute disgrace. I feel whole-heartidly sorry for Barrow fans. If the highlights they've showed aren't biased I don't know what is. They practically showed all our chances and none of Barrows which is very, very harsh on the non-league side who played valliantly and put up more of a fight than the scoreline suggests. Fuck off ITV you useless cunts and give the FA Cup back to the BBC or Sky or someone who knows what the fuck they're doing.

I believe your exact words when the draw was announced were "non-league teams are the draws you want to avoid". As I said, you were right about their fans as they brought 7,000 up and outsang us at times (Even at 3-0 down) and you cannot fault their team's effort but then quality was always going to be the difference and like I said, we hardly played outstandingly and yet won without conceding pretty comfortably. As for the emphasis about Torres/Gerrard, Roo, as someone who went to the 1-0 win against you lot, and whether or not it came under fortunate circumstances or not we fully deserved the win as your lot were poor. Very poor. Without those two in your side you look short on confidence and you lack creativity and that killer finish. To be honest Roo the best I can sum it up is that Portsmouth caused us more problems at home than your lot did (And I detest Portsmouth and their team of Championship-standard players). It's not something I would enjoy saying as i'd much rather Liverpool was in the title chase than Man Utd or Chelsea but you seriously need to keep them both fit or I honestly cannot see you finishing in the top 4. That is, unless Rafa pulls off the transfer coup of the January window.

I disagree. Barrow played some cracking football throughout the match, and to say they played hoof-ball against us would be to undermine the effort that their players put in. They got the ball down, they got played it into the danger areas and they genuinely caused our defence problems at times. If they'd had a slightly better finisher up front then I dare say they'd have nicked a goal. I said pages ago that the difference between us and non-league clubs is the quality, it's not like we absolutely raped Barrow because we didn't. We put in a pretty average performance and Barrow put in a very good performance but couldn't put away their chances. They certainly didn't hoof the ball up at every opportunity, they didn't sit back and defend for the full 90, their team played well and their fans were outstanding. Against a lower league opposition i'd have bet my life savings that they'd have won, or at least scored. Their keeper was outstanding, could have been about 5-0 if it hadn't been for some genuinely top-class saves he made. Barrow also had 7 shots on target, which all but confirms what I was saying about them having a go at it. As a sidenote, I see the best Liverpool could manage was a draw against low-scoring Reading. It does make you think what could have happened had Rafa rested Torres and Gerrard... PS: Agreed about ITV.
