2018 Candidate Host Cities Announced
Good stuff, though obviously none of it means anything unless England get chosen to host the tournament. I have to say as a Sunderland supporter, fantastic effort by Quinny, the club and the neighbouring regions in getting us selected as a candidate. Would love to go and see WC games at the Stadium of Light. Milton Keynes was a surprise inclusion as well

Can't complain about the result. Villa stuck their chances away, we didn't. Fair play. Can't see us picking up any more points up until we play Bolton at home on the 9th. We seriously need to strengthen in January, and Bruce needs to get his head sorted out and stop bringing off attacking players for defenders. Worrying times.

Hooray. Fed up tbh. Just end the fucking season now.

The weekend/weekday football thread
Dunno what he's whinging about, United could have had 3 hours added time and they wouldn't have scored. I just think it's hilarious that whenever they lose or play badly Ferguson finds something to have a pop at. What an arrogant cock the man is. And as for Sunderland, our season is in danger of coming off the rails a bit. We didn't perform at all against Wigan, we didn't perform until the second half against Fulham (And even then we weren't great), and we were absolutely appalling in the second half against a very, very poor Portsmouth side. With Villa (h), City (a), Everton (h) and Blackburn (a) coming up before the new year, it's hard to see where our next points are going to come from. Can't wait to have Cattermole back, and hopefully we'll sign the full backs and wingers we desperately need in January.

The weekend/weekday football thread
I detest being a Sunderland supporter at times. I really do wonder why we put ourselves through it. The past 2 away defeats have been unacceptable. No other way of putting it, they haven't even tried. Wigan are shocking, how they ever beat Villa or Chelsea even with them down to 10 men is an absolute mystery to me. They have one or two good players, but defensively they're poor and they were there for the taking. Not good enough. Fulham yesterday was nothing short of a disgrace. Fulham are a decent team, Hodgson's a good manager but fucking hell lads at least try and look interested. Richardson, McCartney, Nosworthy, Ferdinand, Bardsley can all fuck off. Seriously, the next time a team comes calling for them ship the bastards off, i'll be more than happy to pay their taxi fares as it's a far more productive use of the money i'm wasting watching us away from home. 2 away games, 2 shots on target. Says it all. Sort it out Sunderland.

I should hate things like Hadouken, yet I love them. Bit weird. I actually don't have the Man's Machine EP but I checked out the two songs you'd posted in your chart and they're good. May have to download :o Peace and goodwill to all that have commented etc.

The weekend/weekday football thread
Why would we throw beachballs at people, wasn't it a Liverpool fan who threw the beachball onto the pitch when we beat you at the SoL? I understand where you're coming from Roo but given the choice between Chelsea away and Oxford at home in the next round, i'd choose Oxford every time. The difference between the Premier League sides and the non-league sides is that you can go to Stamford Bridge, play out of your skin and still come away with a hiding whereas at home against someone like Oxford you can get away with not playing at your best. The thing is, imo it is one of the easiest ties of the draw and it's up to us to take full advantage of it.
-
The weekend/weekday football thread
Which is why it's important that at the very least a handful of first teamers start. If players like Cana, Bent and Turner are on the pitch then it should be a comfortable victory. We got the blend right for Birmingham and Norwich in the Carling Cup, and both were pretty comfortable in the end. We've just got to make sure that whoever is picked turns up and performs.
-
The weekend/weekday football thread
Oxford or Barrow at home, not bad. I can imagine a few reserves/youths playing, but hopefully not too many as knowing us we'll manage to find a way to royally fuck up what is essentially one of the easiest draws of the round. Hopefully a win will kick-start a decent run in this cup.
-
The weekend/weekday football thread
Same old predictable shit. 2 players had ok games, i'll say no more. Expecting a response against Fulham next week, when of course I won't be attending. I love being jobless and wasting money going to watch awful, heartless, lazy, disjointed displays like that.

Champions League/Europa League 2009/2010
That's why I said it's debatable. And I doubt a partnership with Kenwyne would work, they're both similar players (Height, presence, better at heading than finishing). I'd rather we didn't play two players like Jones/Crouch up front anyway, because it usually means playing hoofball. I'd rather have someone like Bent who has the pace to cause problems and can also stick the ball away.
