  1. 2. Aye, Fulham offered £11m for him and we offered £12m. I also agree that £12m for Downing is steep. I don't rate him all that much either in honesty. An above-average-but-not-great player that looked better than he was because he was surrounded by awful players in a badly organised squad. Not that i'd be complaining if we were after him like. I think from the Boro side that went down i'd only take him and Tuncay, the rest were average at best.
  3. There's not many 20 goals a season strikers knocking about these days anyway (Outside the top 4), i'd settle for one that can at least break into double figures  We haven't had a prolific strike force since the days of Quinny and SuperKev. Cissé and Jones were okay but their goals were all single-handedly scored by themselves, it just wasn't a partnership. Both performed better when we played 4-5-1 but that was ugly, defensive shit and the fans got sick of watching it week in week out under Ricky. I wouldn't mind Bent but tbh for some of the fees Spurs are asking for him they can swivel.
  4. I wouldn't like to think Clancy will play a part in the decision but you know what WAG culture is like man. Doesn't matter where she's from, London's high streets >>>> The Bridges  We were lumping long balls up the pitch to Kenwyne last season anyway, who's okay in the air but will only jump when he can be bothered. I dunno who we'll get in if we miss out on Crouch. We've been chasing Bent for years, I just think he really doesn't want to come otherwise something would have happened before now. Other strikers we've been linked with are generally not very good or aren't the sorts of players we're looking for.
  5. Hope he comes here, I really do. But I have a feeling his missus will probably have a big say in where he ends up :( Fulham wouldn't be far to move plus they can offer him European football whereas we're a club with a lot of ambition and great support, he'd probably be more appreciated here than he would be at Fulham. And I think we would be able to offer him more money.
  6. Something like that. It was originally thought to be until the end of the year, but SSN were reporting he could be back as early as October. haha. Ugh, i'm sick of hearing about City already and there's still over a month of the fucking window to go yet. So glad there's no City fans on here  I have a horrible, sickly gut feeling Crouchy will be down Fulham having talks tomorrow and he'll end up having a medical and signing there :(
  7. He's back in October, I heard? Will be interesting to see how much Villa get for Young...

    Cheers CJ ;)
  9. Daryl Murphy won't be going to Hull after talks fell through :o If I was a Hull fan I wouldn't know whether to be relieved or worried that we can't even sign Daryl Murphy.
  10. Crouch in Sunderland for talks as I type this. Hopefully this means a deal is close. All that needs to be done now is to give his missus a tour of The Bridges, to see if it meets WAG standards.
  11. Aye. £6.5m (Possibly rising to £7.5m I hear) on two players who, combined, scored 2 league goals last season. I'd be very surprised if Hull don't struggle next season. It's almost as if Brown is going out of his way to try and get the club relegated?
  12. OH DARTTTT, it just gets worse for Hull hahaha  Courtesy of Sky Sports dot com. LMAO Murphy and Zamora - Premier League defences beware
  13. Ourselves and Fulham have had bids accepted for Peter Crouch. Looks like it's between us and the cottagers then. Hope we get him personally.

 Thanks Martin. Cheers Nick :D
  15. I'd like Dunne because barring last season he's been one of the most consistent players for City and solid at the back. Who's to say he wouldn't come here and refind his form? It would probably help his cause that we're a more settled club than City. Add to that he's experienced at both club and international level and he's a captain and a leader and I believe he'd improve our back 4.
  16. I disagree based on the fact Everton are a proper team. One that's been built up properly and functions as a unit. They have a tightly-knit defence and arguably the best midfield outside the big four on top of having strikers that can put away chances. In Moyes they have a manager who can get them performing and performing consistently. City don't have that. They're almost a plastic team, if you will. They've thrown together a team collection of players and expected them to gel and to perform overnight and it just hasn't happened. And until they find a natural leader and a manager that can lead them forward (I'm not at all convinced by Hughes), they'll never go as far as perhaps some of their signings suggest. For football's sake I hope Everton finish ahead of City.

    Thanks :D
  18. Everton could do it again. Out of all the teams you've listed, i'd fancy Everton to take 5th. Plus Everton usually have terrible starts to the season (Look at last season where they lost at home to Blackburn on the opening day etc). Spurs are inconsistent but they're still a good side and I wouldn't be surprised to see them finish 6th/7th, that sort of area. Unless MON finds a suitable replacement (Not Downing), Villa will struggle to perform as they did last season. Man City won't get Terry, i'm 99.9% sure of it. But yes, I agree they need a leader so that they can sell us Dunne to keep the whole thing together.
  19. I dunno tbh. I still think unless they sign a couple of strong defensive players they'll fall short again. At the minute i'd have them down to finish anywhere between 6th and 10th, purely because I can see them leaking stupid goals again and I can see it undoing their European ambitions. Guess we'll see come the end of August. The new Prem Predictions thread should be an interesting read anyhow
  20. Their defence was their undoing last season. If they'd had a better defence they'd have finished above mid-table imo. So the baffling thing to me is instead of buying defenders and trying to strengthen what was the weakest area of the team, they've only bought attacking players??? Like I say, the only way Hughes is going to keep them all happy is if he plays 6 up front every game. Can see it all going horribly wrong for them. Should be a good laugh, then.
  21. Hooray for Manchester City the horrible stuck-up tossers that they are. Based on the signings they've made so far next season should be interesting. How the hell do they intend to keep everyone happy bar playing 2-1-7 every week? Should make for some interesting scorelines, most of them being 22-17 defeats I would presume. We won't be signing Dunne from them until they actually decide to start buying defensive players instead of over-rated strikers.

http://i34.tinypic.com/24etc3b.png Chart Commentary: Week 172 In probably the least surprising revelation of the year, Arctic Monkeys are no.1 with 'Crying Lightning'. This news was made even less surprising given that they had absolutely no competition whatsoever. Top 5 is as-you-were, no new entries to speak of for the first time in weeks. There are two just outside the top half, courtesy of Charlotte Hatherly (Making her chart debut, no less) and Athlete. Both okay tracks, neither stands out and I could have put them in any order and it wouldn't have mattered. The Killers, Bombay Bicycle Club and Yeah Yeah Yeahs all look to be leaving the chart soon. http://i29.tinypic.com/2mpzkt2.png http://i37.tinypic.com/2rcx5c8.png 1: Arctic Monkeys - Crying Lightning 2-1 http://i35.tinypic.com/2598x6v.png 2: Maximo Park - Questing, Not Coasting 1-1-2-3-1-1-2 http://i36.tinypic.com/29z1nab.png 3: Bloc Party - One More Chance 2-3-3 http://i37.tinypic.com/2rcx5c8.png 4: Kasabian - Where Did All The Love Go? 5-4 http://i35.tinypic.com/2598x6v.png 5: Slow Club - It Doesn't Have To Be Beautiful 5-1-1-3-4-5 http://i29.tinypic.com/zuhxyv.png http://i35.tinypic.com/141jlsi.png 6: Charlotte Hatherly - White New Entry http://i35.tinypic.com/141jlsi.png 7: Athlete - Superhuman Touch New Entry http://i35.tinypic.com/2598x6v.png 8: The Killers - Dustland Fairytale 4-6-8 http://i35.tinypic.com/2598x6v.png 9: Bombay Bicycle Club - The Dust On The Ground 4-5-2-3-2-5-7-9 http://i35.tinypic.com/2598x6v.png 10: Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Heads Will Roll 4-3-4-4-7-9-10 http://i33.tinypic.com/2re72wh.png 2009 02 wks 12/01/09 - 25/01/09 Fleet Foxes - Mykonos 02 wks 26/01/09 - 08/02/09 The Killers - Spaceman 04 wks 09/02/09 - 08/03/09 Friendly Fires - Skeleton Boy 02 wks 09/03/09 - 22/03/09 Doves - Kingdom Of Rust 04 wks 23/03/09 - 19/04/09 Bloc Party - Signs (Armand Van Helden Remix) 03 wks 20/04/09 - 10/05/09 Passion Pit - The Reeling 03 wks 11/05/09 - 31/05/09 Jamie T - Sticks 'N' Stones 02 wks 01/06/09 - 14/06/09 Maximo Park - Questing, Not Coasting 02 wks 15/06/09 - 28/06/09 Slow Club - It Doesn't Have To Be Beautiful 02 wks 29/06/09 - 12/07/09 Maximo Park - Questing, Not Coasting 1+ wks 13/07/09 - present Arctic Monkeys - Crying Lightning http://i36.tinypic.com/30cq1as.png ke7vlhqX2g8 Charlotte Hatherly White http://i41.tinypic.com/dvrn9u.png Week Ending: 12/07/09 Pos Artist Track Plays 01 The Cribs We Were Aborted 18 02 Arctic Monkeys Crying Lightning 16 03 Slow Club It Doesn't Have To Be Beautiful 13 04 Maximo Park Questing, Not Coasting 09 05 Fleet Foxes Mykonos 07 06 The Cribs Mirror Kissers 06 07 Passion Pit Sleepyhead 06 08 Bloc Party I Still Remember (Live) 06 09 Pull Tiger Tail Let's Lightning 06 10 Yeah Yeah Yeahs Heads Will Roll 06
