Bloc Party.
Listened through it all, and i'm hoping it'll grow a bit more on me after a few listens. It has its moments (I love Day Four), but on the whole i'm a bit indifferent to most of the songs on it after my first listen.

I liked AWITC, but always preferred Silent Alarm. Intimacy wasn't terrible, but it was certainly their weakest.

Fuck me, you weren't kidding when you said heavy  Only a few songs in, decent so far.

Summer Transfer Thread 2012 - Deadline Day!
Yeah, agree with everything you've said there. That said, if he scores us the goals we need then £12m will seem like money well spent. We still need one more striker in, however, because if he gets injured we're left with Ji, Wickham and Campbell  Hopefully this'll set the wheels in motion and we'll get that 2nd striker + a winger, a creative central midfielder and a right back. Probably won't happen but they're certainly the positions we should be looking at.

:o The anticipation is killing me, so i've found myself a link and i'm downloading now. If this lives up to Pav's hype, it'll be something special

And it's apparently been accepted. Annoyed, he isn't worth £12m. But the whole thing has been rumbling on for so long and we're so desperate for players that i'm just happy to see something productive happening.

Premier League predictions 2012/2013
Leaving my predictions until we actually sign some players, because right now with the squad we've got we'll be getting relegated having scored a grand total of 5 goals. Urghhh.

Could be worse mate. Ji Dong-Won as your lone striker, for example. Jesus wept

Can't wait to get beaten at home by Reading.

Summer Transfer Thread 2012 - Deadline Day!
It's a big season for McClean in that regard, had a very good first season with us in 11/12, he's very direct, will run at defenders, always has a trick or two up his sleeve, but he needs to add more to his arsenal to really flourish in the Prem. He's still fairly young though, and the fact he's been so solid having come over as an unknown entity from the Irish leagues speaks for itself. He can still improve. I'd still like to see someone else on the right, as a bit of competition for Seb, who as i've said, tends to have 1 good game for every 2 or 3 very average ones. Wouldn't say no to Matt Phillips, who we've been linked with. The Adam Johnson rumours refuse to die as well, despite the fact it just won't happen.

I didn't know Larsson played for Liverpool?

The new season's edging closer and we've still only brought in Cuellar. Not worrying yet, but it is a slight concern. To add to it all, we've had an awful pre-season which has only gone on to highlight just how desperately we need to bring in strikers.

Bloc Party.
Was out through Newcastle tonight, at the place they're scheduled to be playing. You could tweet your song requests to the DJ, so I requested Helicopter, he replied to me directly with "great track" and played it almost instantly; literally made my night. Also found out one of the lads I was out with quite likes a bit of Bloc and is up for seeing them in October, very very happy. Also not that arsed about Octopus being taken down, already downloaded it  honestly cannot wait for the rest of the album to leak, and really hope I get to go see them; they're playing my birthday weekend, it would be the best present ever.

Alt-J - An Awesome Wave
The Tessellate video reminds me a little of REM's Imitation Of Life, not that that's a criticism, Imitation Of Life is a great video. But yeah, I really need to listen to/download An Awesome Wave, i've liked all the songs i've heard so far from it.

Didn't know what to think on first listen, but after a few plays i'm quite loving Octopus. Looking forward to the new album with much anticipation.

Japandroids - Celebration Rock
Really enjoyed the stuff they released a while back, Younger Us and Wet Hair especially. House That Heaven Built is okay.

We've signed Cuellar. Dunno what to think really, decent defender but it's not the most exciting of signings. I wish if we were going to sign Fletcher we'd just get it over with, it's been rumbling on for ages now. I also hope we don't sign Saha.

Looking forward to hearing their new stuff. The album teaser on YouTube sounded remarkably like soundbites from Silent Alarm? Not that i'd complain too much if it did sound SA-esque, brilliant album. They're also playing up here on my birthday, by coincidence. Very tempted to buy myself tickets. You up for it, Damon? lol

England vs Italy
Brave performance, match them over the course of the match, 1-1 by the end of extra time, England out on penalties.

England vs Ukraine
Actually really enjoyed our performance, liked the doggedness and the resilience we showed under a hostile atmosphere and a lot of pressure from Ukraine. My prediction of "1 goal in it" wasn't wrong, albeit I predicted a 2-1. So far Hodgson's done a decent job, he's got us battling, playing together as a team and there's an assuredness and a steel about England that was never there under Cappello. The lack of any sort of expectancy has helped as well, of course. I'm sticking with my original statement that qualification from our group is success for what i'd call a mostly very average side, winning the group is certainly an amicable achievement. What I would say is that it'll be interesting to see how we fare if we set up as we have against teams with the quality to break us down. But who knows, from this point onwards we're completely unfavoured, we'll be underdogs against Italy and should we progress we'll be underdogs against whoever else we play. We can relax slightly now, barring an absolute catastrophe against the Italians the players can come home from this tournament with their heads held high.

EURO 2012
Bendtner fined €100,000 for his Paddy Power pants celebration. Just for comparison, here's how that stacks up against some past UEFA fines: 2004: £45,000 Spain (racism) 2007: £16,500 Serbia (racism) 2008: £10,000 Croatia (racism) Well done UEFA.

Premier League / Football League Thread 12/13
Bar the Arsenal match, our first six aren't actually all that bad. Can't really complain, it could be far, far worse. Newcastle at home is the week after my birthday again. Last time that happened we won 2-1 :D

England vs Sweden
One of the most entertaining England matches for years, actually enjoyed watching them for a change. That win's eased some of the pressure on us to get a result against Ukraine as well.

Surely that's worse?
